I thought it was just me! Haven't built much lately and have been having problems building nearly everything. Need to get back into the swing.
Made a set of 5 core fused 30g ss/40g ss that are servicable. But not very photogenic.
Everything else has been unsuccessful as of late.
Looking better every time la, vaping alright for ya?

How's your work with 26 gauge? Might find that helps with the ramp up time but also doesn't become to feeble to wrap properly freehand. Just a thought. Either way good work la, keep us informed of your ventures

I would use 26g but in these parts you're going to have a helluva time finding anything smaller than 24g. I had to go to Kbee's site to get the wire I'm using. Vaping really isn't a big thing here. My buddy gets most of his business from the military base nearby and people who are quitting smoking, but aside from that, there are very few builders around here.
Looks like Kbee's going to have a large order come pay day. Thinking about buying some 28, 26 and 24g NiChrome, more 38 and 36g SS and some ribbon wire from there for when I start working on Staggered Claptons and staged coils. Poor folks there aren't going to get a moment's rest, LOL!
Update: I'm now experimenting with twisting and helixing. These coils were made from 3x 10" pieces of 28g NiChrome twisted together and helixed 1 time. So far, I'm liking the taste. I tried to do a staged heating coil with naked (untwisted) NiChrome, but my naked coil kept slipping out for some reason.

Coils are looking a lot tighter nowadays man. One thing I want to point out though, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but helix wires are supposed sit in the grooves created in the space between the twisted wires. That's what I thought anyway :$

Sorry correction its 46. Also a tip that i learned. Since its so hard to see the fine wire i use the reflection to see if im leading it right. If theres space between the wraps it will wont flash that glare at you while its spinning. The light has to be right tho.

Fuckin hell man, tiny ass wire that. Good idea for reflecting the light off it though. Think I'll probably just get some magnifying head wear for such tiny gauges myself though

Thanks. I always have the magnifiers handy but the focal length on them is really short and your field of view is too small. The more i build the less i use them. Important thing is just keeping that angle the same all the way down.

I'm getting better at keeping my wrap hand consistent but with the smaller gauges a slightly off movement can have you leading back over your wrap wire. I like it to sit in next to each other as tight as possible so I'm still very reliant on my eyesight for it. All the more power to people who can wrap without any external device but I'm still, for small gauges anyway, going to rely on magnification to see the pattern is always consistent. Onwards and up the gauges anyway la

For doing the reflection trick this might be the perfect light for you. It attaches to a standard camera screw and has 3 levels of brightness: Bright, Brighter and Blinding lol. Picked mine up second hand for my gopro but have now adapted it into one of my caps so I can wear it on my head. Helps wonders for me and building.

I have a single coil pulse 22 and a dead rabbit with duel coils. They are using the same prebuilts. Tri core fused claptons. Single is ohming out to .31 duel is .15. I recently got this mech mod and some single coil RDAs cause everyone always bragging about how good they are. Problem is, the single coil atty is WAY to cool of a vape for me. So i threw on the dead rabbit and it's almost where I want it but it's on a fresh battery, so it's only going to get cooler and cooler.
My question is this, to get less resistance do I need more wraps or less?? With the dead rabbit there is 2x as much wire but it halves the resistance, hence my confusion. I want to try out my single coil RDA's but I already know I wont like them at ~.3 ohm.

Hi there. It can be a bit confusing when first looking at but it's not all that complex. Firstly to get less resistance you want less wraps in a coil, more resistance is more wraps. The reason it can look confusing when looking at a dual coil is that as you say 2 coils halves the resistance. Looks like it kind of goes against there being more wire ergo more resistance. That's because instead of the 2 wires being run in series which would basically double the wraps, instead there's 2 pathways for the electricity to go, so, less resistance. Pretty sure @whiteowl84 will be able to explain in a much better way than myself lol.

Alrighty, that basically sums it up thanks. So if those coils are .31 @ 7 wraps 3mm ID and I want to go down to .15 or less(preferably). What should I do like a 4 wrap or something?
Also I bought the same gauge of wire that these tri cores are built with. If I make them duel core instead with similar id and wraps that will be less resistance too ya?

Use http://www.steam-engine.org to model the resistance you want, it's a great tool.

A 4 wrap should get you around there @MaxPerilous, and yes doing a dual core/parallel will halve the resistance. It's alot of wire to heat up though so it would probably be best on a regulated mod unless the gauges are small enough for 4-4.2v to give a quick enough ramp up time.

Hmm can't figure out how to configure for 28g x3/36g SS316L.
What i did do though is go to 3 wraps and it brought me down to .19 according to my Drone. Less than that though and I may need to wrap my cotton around my coil rather than the other way around LOL.
Took me a while to find tgis the 1st time to. Select parrelel wire then tap the + to keep adding wires.

Dual core will have higher resistance than the tri-core with the same number of wraps and same ID. So if you want to go lower with a dual core use less wraps or bigger core wires or smaller ID.
Awesome, so it looks like you can't add the clapton wire. But it seems to not add to much resistance as compared to the actual resistance i'm getting (w 36g claptoned)vs. just the cores on the calc.Took me a while to find tgis the 1st time to. Looks like the wire I have is going to do well, for my TC mods and I need to get some 26g (instead of 28) to get more wraps with a lower res.
There will be more ramp up though with the 26g. Wow, this stuff isn't as simple as I thought it might be. That's prob half the fun. I feel myself beginning to climb down another rabbit hole lol.
Even at three wraps though, I'm getting a decent vape on this little wasp nano and boxer clone I got today. I just feel like 3 wraps is dinky and there may be better options. I'd like a little lower resistance but don't want to deal with coils that have a ramp up time. Though arguably, the best vape I've had to date were on 7 wrap juggernauts that had a monster ramp up time at 85 watts. The flavor was on point and the vapor was hella dense.

Start with a Clapton in the wizard then change the single wire to parallel. You can figure most builds with it, but it takes a bit of playing around to figure it all out.
Ijoy sent me their Combo RDTA 2 to check out...Ive always wanted one for the Goon Deck...Ive had many Goon RDTA clones but all of them had resistance issues/coated contact surfaces and what not...This is the best option for sure.
Tossed in one of my favorite builds...I used too many wraps just to show off...I normally run 4 Wraps/3mm ID Coils only on all my devices....

@raymo2u are the decks from that compatible with the first version? i have all the decks for version one, but i want that druga deck to complete the collection...

thats the shuriken by cthulhu not the apocalypse. it might be my favorite clamp deck, but im not a huge fan of the vape i get from the shuriken itself. i was pretty happy there was a shuriken style deck with the combo.

@Dustyjeans The Druga is the new included deck but Im certain it comes with a Velocity deck and a Coilhead with the RDTA....the other decks are grabbed separately. The Goon and Shuriken Decks are my favorite right now but I want some of the others...The G24 (IMC-4) and Postless Decks next I hope.
I was looking on getting the ijoy combo a while back but decided against it as I quite like a single coil setup. The imc-8 deck looks like it'd be alright for a single setup like

I think you would call that a staged staggered fused clapton as the 3 wrap wires are all supposed to be the same. Nice looking piece of wire either way.

Ok thanks i just mounted them in my goon they ohm at .17. I haven't vaped on them yet im all out of cotton. Going to buy some today.
