Yeah dude I read your post on the previous page so I'm going to give that try. I don't have any 24g on hand so I'll try it with three 28g cores and use 26g for the decore.

Any advice on 4+ core aliens? I struggle mightily trying to wrap four 28g cores.
Grip, grip, grip. Rearward drill tension. Lots use sliders, keyrings, or even legos to keep your cores from collapsing. I don't do any of that stuff. If your prep is good, your tension on your drill is good, and your grip on your decore is right, any amount of cores in an Alien coil will practically wrap itself.

Sounds like I need to work on the prep work some more. Haven't been using a vice for the drill so maybe I don't have enough tension. Next build I'll load the drill into the vice and see if that helps.

I hold the drill by hand but put the other end of the wire in fishing swivels attached to a Spin LT clamped in a hobby vice

@VAPEROXX is very right. Prep matters sooo much. When I first tried a 5 core alien I had to use a paperclip or something which is not ideal because stopping and going often creates inconsistencies. You really just wanna rip through it if you can and if you have a really good prep and a really good feel for tension you can do that.

yeah man I'm trying to avoid the stopping and starting because I always fuck up upon restarting after moving the slider.

Ok, I should have taken pics before wicking these and vaping them. I was so excited, I completely forgot LOL. I was like a kid in a candy store even I started installing these haha. I have been rocking a pair of series build fused claptons in my Bonza rda ohm out at .35Ω. And a pair of Fraliens in my Combo RDTA. These ohm out at .09Ω for the pair and are on my NCII-25 in parallel. These are both insane. Flavor AND clouds for DAYS! I am not certain on the specs, these are definitely done my hand. These amazing works of art were crafted by @Shredtravolta. The man really knows his craft well. I still have a set of SSFC's that aren't installed yet. Might wait till income tax comes in and I can finally get my Pulse Dual kit and drop one in the rda then :)

I'll hit you up for sure. One day I want to get adept enough myself to try my hand at a corrugated build. I know they are beautiful coils, but not really sure how they would be in a practical sense. Anybody tried them that can give some insight?

They are really good looking and they don’t vape badly at all. I don’t think they add a whole lot for flavor but corrugated wire can really take an otherwise regular build and make it look amazing!

You can also corrugate round wire for some funky builds!

Those look intriguing. Have you tried vaping those before?

Sure, they vaped pretty well. Not too far off from what you would expect really. It might actually change the quality of the vape, the honest truth is I haven’t vaped corrugated builds enough to really say I know for sure but I’ve seen some great corrugated posts from guys that have claimed they got a great vape from it... it could totally have a possible factor.

Mighty have to try one some day. I'm truly curious. Will have to color them first though. I've seen so many pics of how pretty they can be not to :)

It’s true I have seen some tremendous looking corrugated builds. I obviously have some experience with it but it is definitely not my greatest strength by any means. There are some guys that really master corrugation for sure.

I have seen quite a few from raymo. That man has made corrugated look like a workof art. It's crazy how easy he makes it look too LOL

Yes he’s by far the best “coil porn” builder that I’ve spoken to personally although recently he seems to favor “wire art” - small segments of a wire that may or may not be long enough to coil using extremely small gauges to create complex patterns. That’s not to take anything away from his functional building, I know he builds coils with @The_hat_trix. The most impressive coil he does on that particular site from a technical standpoint is the alien stag which many of us have done to some degree or another, but which he does the most consistently and the best. I think the biggest benefit to an alien stag is that you can do it with ribbon wire and round wire or just round wire. I think if you go with the round wire the most comparable coil would be the 5 core alien and if you’re going to do it with ribbon wire you’ve got the fralien. Raymo was actually on the first series coil wars and I found myself rooting for him because I really preferred his builds over his opposition and at this point I had never even conversed with him, in fact I wasn’t even on the this forum at the time. Some people knew me from a much smaller forum. I was one of many builders that disagreed with his elimination from the contest. I wouldn’t say the contest was “rigged” but it was clear that the judges had their prejudices towards certain styles of building at the time. I remember Squidoode was one of the judges and I thought to myself who is Squidoode to judge coil porn? He’s a guy with a 3 coil product line, maybe he was the first to introduce the staple coil. His YouTube series The Art of Building had already become dated. I remember his tutorial on the SSFC and you can actually see his frustration. Part of this was because Squidoode was of the opinion that building freehand was actually and indication of more talent then a swivel builder, which is stupid lol. So the whole point is you’ve got people with this mindset actually judging and it was clear that they didn’t even really understand what they were looking at. So to bring it home I don’t think Raymo really got a fair shake. Never the less he remains humble and often claims anyone could do what he can do if they had the time and his humble nature is probably the thing I respect the most about him.

All this. And also, it’s easier for me to prestretch the decore so you can fuse with barely any tension. The alien wrap holds the wires flat by it self, but more fuse wire tension will bunch the cores. If I stretch my decore juuust right, I can do a 6x30 alien with no clips or sliders at full speed. But if I tried that with regular wire instead of decore, I don’t think I could keep the cores from bunching now matter what lol.

I agree with you 110%. I watch that season of coil wars and I specifically watched it because raymo was on it. Off course I was rooting for him. I was talking with him on this forum at the time actually. A reason awesome and humble guy. I try to take time when he does live building sessions on Instagram too. Very informative and entertaining as times too with the kids and all LOL. I've always had mad respect for him and I thought that his elimination was a load of crap myself. Honestly we was my favorite to win it just by his builds alone. But, he took his elimination with class and humility and you've got to respect that.

I did a similar build, didn’t stitch it and had a lot of issues coiling it. I actually have to try it again. You did better than me but I think if I get constant tension and clearance I can make it happen. I of course did not have the hybrid wrap in the middle but I wish I could see the whole thing it looks super interesting:D. As for now, a regular pair of Fraliens cause that’s what the vapers want!!:giggle:

Not nearly as beautiful as what you guys show here, but still pretty proud of it. It ended up as a twisted because my swivels seizedup on me, but put a new set of them to work. Made twisted 2x28g/38g ka1 fused claptons 4 wraps .35Ω

Dude first of all thank you so much for saying I’m elite. There’s no bigger complaint you can give someone in the building community and I can’t even express to you what that means to me or how good it makes me feel.

I have to be humble out of the respect for the fellow builders I have mentioned and admit I am not actually elite. As with everything including this forum there’s a group of what you would consider the best; that being a combination of functional fundamentals and showmanship. Elite is really taking the best out of the best. I’ll give you three current examples because there are just not that many to choose from at the moment on this forum. @raymo2u and @WPMac are both elite. The one other person who has given me an indication that he has the ability to rise to that status is @Severinomotta. These three builders do things, very very complicated well thought out builds, that I personally do not yet have the ability to do. I will concede however, that most people who vape my coils are going to find that I am in fact a very good functional builder. I just cannot in good consciousness allow myself to be grouped with those I previously mentioned.

Now how bout on to you killer! That’s a great first post! Looks like a twisted clapton which I know gives a good vape and it looks really clean man. I’m really impressed that you took it upon yourself to learn how to do that and you’ve got massive potential for sure! Don’t be afraid to zoom in a little closer, if you can find a way to steady the bottom of your phone on something it might be easier to get a clearer shot close up. But great first post! Welcome to the builders club my friend!:D

Edit: If we are talking about elite I need to make some honorable mentions. @The_hat_trix is one of the best functional builders of today’s market. He has his own website that he works with Raymo from my understanding. There are two builders which without I would still be maxed out at three core aliens. Those are @mach1ne and @CrazyChef v2.0. The Chef at one time had a forum, relatively small at the time, that allowed me to experiment and post on a consistent basis. The machine and the Chef were the only ones that provided me with any consistent feedback. It was enough to get me to a point where I could come to this forum and kinda fit in so to speak and ever since then I just became more consistent and better. So I think when speaking about the elite it’s sometimes important to remember the trailblazers and the ones who give back because they honestly created ShredTravolta as he is known on this forum today. Without them I just wouldn’t be a part of what’s going on and I’ll forever feel in debt to them.
