Sister rang. No x ray results, but they suspect osteoporosis and a bruised bone. She'll probably go from acute surgery to rehab in a few days. Might not be well enough to come home. May need to go in to care.

I am confused. What are they operating for? With all that you cook, it's hard to believe she is malnourished. I know folks can just lose interest in food and quit eating although I have yet to get to that point. I should be so lucky ....LOL.

I am very sorry that you are going through this. Mom went through a similar process, but she broke her hip and she had some other medical issues that made 24 hour care necessary. This is one of the hardest things we have to do for our parents. Just remember, there are folks here who have already gone through this and you have many shoulders to help share the burden and feelings.

Also, you can't live in the "what if" world. You only have today and today your mom is getting good care with an unknown future. Worrying about the negative possibilities just craps all over your "now" and most of the stuff you worry about never comes to pass. In certain recovery programs it is known as "living in the wreckage of the future". You deserve better so stay in the present and try to stay positive. One step at a time.

OK, enough of that. I don't want to be negative or bury you in cliches. Not to mention, I am at risk of ruining my reputation for being an insensitive bitch if I continue this touchy feely stuff. What can I do to help? Want some pictures of nude goats? How about nude lawn mower riders?

I am here if you need to talk. Wish I was there so I could visit and be my crazy self and take your mind off this.

From my understanding, "acute surgical" is a general purpose-medium care ward that does not always involve actual surgery

mum stopped eating my cooking maybe a year ago. She has had GI issues, which she has been putting off getting checked out [a random at the bus stop she chatted to told her thye CT could make her puke, and she was concerned about bus/taxi being ill] so she has been living off simple soup [just broth types] some small fish portions, fruit and veg. Mostly not eating in the afternoon/evening since she had trouble sleeping with a full tummy

Well, it sounds like there was some good news in all that.

Bus stop medical advice is awesome. I think we're all guilty of taking random medical advice. Like when hawk convinced me that all pills are more effective when used as a suppository. Not sure that's true, but they sure are easier to swallow.

Yesterday evening when I checked, y'all were first. US must've won a couple after I went to bed.

Have you seen the video going around of the Aussie hurdler. She's awesome.
The dancing/bouncing one? If so, she's been around for a while. Press picked her up as a potential star still in high school.

Hi Knuckles. Sorry I haven't been around much. Life is getting in the way of living lately.
Thinking about Doggie and Mum, and hoping for the best.
And of course, more birthday love. :blowkiss:

Also a little worried about Taki. Hope you're hanging in there, dearie. Don't let them get you down. I went through similar stuff a few years ago so feel free to PM me if you need a shoulder or a suggestion.

Evening knuckles. Haven't been very talkative last few days. I'm sure I'll snap out of it soon, but sending big hugs to everyone.

Edit: happy birthday doggy! Big hugs honey, hope you can find a bit of birthday cheer, or at least more wine

Happy Birthday, Doggie!!! I just got caught up on all the posts (been all over the place the last few weeks) and I'm so sorry to hear of your mum. It sounds like she is feeling better, and I do hope you are hanging in there okay. Wine is good! LOL

Taki.........I hope you are doing okay (remembered when reading Em's post). I was camping when you were heading back. I do hope you have found some kind of release for all the stress that place has recently been giving you!

Claudia.......I plan on cooking in my AF today!!! Thanks, girlie!

Glow......How is the cleaning going? Are you almost finished?

22.....That birthday video you made Doggie is just AWESOME! You rock!

Em.......I hope you are doing okay and enjoying your summer!

Everyone else........I miss you guys!

Just got back from a visit to SIL and BILs home. We hadn't been there in over 8 years due to Mike's dad being sick. When he passed in May, I told Mike we had to get there this summer to see them. We had an amazing time. I miss going there to visit. We were also supposed to head to the river today through Sunday, but starting Thurs. through Sun. there's an 80%-90% chance of rain daily. I don't want to be cooped up my last few days of summer, so we may not go at all. :-( That area needs the rain though. The river is so low there aren't even any kayaks on it because they get stuck. Sad year for the mokais........maybe this fall or next spring. Sighhhhh

I don't understand how people can just straight up suck at their job and people are okay with it.

In my case one is the GM's wife that "doesn't know what she's doing" in his own words, but remains full time anyway. The other is one of my drivers, but we are so short handed that I have to keep him on. :drunk:

lunch with a friend today, maybe some soul cleansing beach time

just a day away from hospitals
I'm just being nosy. This is the second or third time you've mentioned "lunch with a friend".
You courting?

Buckle your helmet. It'll make you look responsible. And maybe trim your upper lip a bit. I'm guessing girls prefer both lips during a kiss.

Go get em tiger!

Evening boof heads

Work was slow tonight. I'm oddly ok with that. Normally prefer busy but I was quite satisfied with sitting on my rear at least part of my shift. Nothing exciting round here, same old same old. It finally rained tonight for the first time in a month, just enough to make it more muggy. Normally don't complain in the summer but a/c sure would be nice
