So little discussion of Yihi SxMini M class and other boards like SX350???

The other problem with it is that it's built to order. Delivery time is 4weeks from order date. Even the diy kit is 2-3 weeks delivery time. That leads me to believe that they are molding the boxes when ordered.

If you click on the link for the diy kit, there's a video clip on the bottom that shows the box and you can see how thick it is. Looks like it's the size of 2 sxmini put back to back. I have no interest in 150w so I don't need one, but I will say that if I did, I'd rather have that over the sx with that stupid tube on it

Yea it looks like they're ordering the pieces and assembling them as orders come in. All the parts are available on Shapeways.com, if you look at the 3d view of the enclosure you can see all the wasted space on either side of where the pcb / display is mounted in the enclosure which is one of the reasons it's so wide at least in that direction. And yea I agree with you on the preferring it over the look of the battle axe. But at the same time if I ever wanted to go up to 150 w it would only be to play around so the extension tube would work fine for me in that regard and not be stuck with a big bulge in my pocket.:) No not that bulge the other bulge:D

There's a thread on the Boxer on ECF. Some are enthusiastic about it but I'm not sure they realize the actual size of the device. Or if they do they don't mind a mod 1.5" thick on it's narrowest side. All my devices are under 1" on their narrowest side so pocketing them isn't a problem for me. And although it's a dual battery device the dimensions are about equivalent to 4 - 18650 batteries in square which would be about 36mm x 36mm, not very pocket friendly IMO. Hopefully the designer will come out with a design that removes all the wasted space and is more slimline for pocketing.
  • Dimensions: 80.5mm x 41.5mm x 39.2mm (3.17″ x 1.63″ x 1.54″ appox.)

I see you like to post inaccurate information here too. Its one thing to have an opinion, but you might want to hold one of these in your hand before posting as fact.

And a take on your comment.... Funny, the sxmini is only a single battery, but yet it is almost THREE (3) batteries deep, and 1-1/2 wide.

This unit is much more comfortable to grip & hold in my hand. Plus I don't need to worry about the paint chipping off it ;)
It is narrower and shorter then the M class. And, um, yes....its 2 batteries wide. Maybe you can help figure out how to make a dual battery unit that is smaller than the width of 2 batteries!

I think his point was its double the thickness. I like the idea, but I'm sure there is some wasted space in it. If someone could take a similar design and cut the width down by about a 1/3, there would be no stoping them.

I ordered one May 30th and as you can see, received one today -- less than 2 weeks.
I think (?) they just put that lead time up as it is a new product being heavily pre-ordered.

Well, of course every mod pretty much has some space thats wasted. But, this unit is only slightly wider then 2 side x side 18650's and as you can see thinner then the M class. Its not double the thickness, but actually narrower -- which I guess means that there is even more wasted space in the sxmini.

As I said in that other place, that's why they make hundreds of different mods. Everyone has different taste. But to me the design of this unit is perfect. It is more comfortable in the grip of my hand and even with dual batteries, lighter then the M class.

Nothing inaccurate on what I posted at all. And I don't need to hold a mod that's over half an inch thicker than anything I own being dual or single to know it's not pocket friendly for me. In case you don't understand what 18650 battery represents it's 18mm diameter by 65 mm in length. 4 x 18mm batteries in a square is 36mm x 36mm x 65mm, enough space to house 4 batteries in that enclosure. In addition the pcb is 18mm x 16.5mm wide so there is no need in having a device that's 3.17″ x 1.63″ x 1.54″ thick for dual batteries, that could be a triple battery enclosure if all the wasted space was utilized. This has been explained to you several times by others as well. If you don't get it by now you never will. But I'm glad you like it and your happy with your purchase.

Why thank you. I am very happy with it.
And thank you for explaining what the 18 & 65 was. Hahahaha. Although not sure why you threw in there the 65mm part -- unless you wanted to show how much wasted space the M class has in its height (over 30mm extra - wasted)

But again, you are just taking the largest parts of the device for your comparison. You don't have one so you have nothing to go by but specs you read.
The unit tapers in. It is narrower in the front and less than 26mm wide -- the front of this unit and the M class is exactly the same width. And as you can see from the side x side.... this unit is considerably shorter then the M class and also less deep.

The cubic dimension of the M class is such that it can house 3 batteries. You can try and do your mathematical formulas all you want. But this unit is BOTH shorter (considerably) and less deep then the M. Yes, it is wider. It has TWO batteries. I laugh when you say there is wasted space (front to back). Yes, the battery tray with the board in front of it. How can that be if it is less deep then then M class. Guess yihi wasted more space then. ;)

Pocket friendly? The M is almost 3/4" taller. Throw your tank on that and its about 6 - 6-1/2" tall (depending on tank). That's pocket friendly?
You'll never get it. But the difference between you and most. We don't talk down a device without physically seeing/feeling it. Don't say everything we haven't purchased or received for free is junk and only what you have is great. And we certainly don't post opinions as facts -- especially when you have no clue.

Just a heads up for anyone considering an SX mini silicone sleeve from Ginger Vapes.

It looks great right now…it likely won't in a couple of weeks, it's much to loose a fit around the bottom perimeter and it'll end up looking like the silicone case I've seen on many smartphones after a short while, the edges will be all streched and floppy, I'll likely install a JWrap when the silicone gets to loose, the maker of these sleeves should have definitely tightened them up for a much more snug fit.

It was easier than drawing a colored picture.
And your wrong, there is not 30mm of wasted space in the M class unless your not going to use the SX350j board and switch which are a minimum of 76.5 mm in length

If the retailer is listing the dimensions incorrectly there's not much I can do about that. Perhaps you could help out and post pictures of the correct dimensions of the device.

If I were trying to stick it in my pocket long way sticking out that would be a problem. Then again anyone even considering that probably shouldn't be let out of their padded room.

You crack me up! The Boxer is 3/4" shorter then then M class. And since they BOTH have the same chip, PLEASE explain how that is possible!!!
Easy.... The M class WASTED space!

In your pocket the the long way? You'd need some custom pants with pretty deep pockets in order for 6-1/2" to fit without sticking out.
Yihi doesn't even list dimensions on their site. And their unit is fatter in the front then in the back -- do sites list both?

And lastly.... The designer of this unit is a pure GENIUS. You can say whatever you want, but it is one of the MOST comfortable fits I have ever had in my hand. I grip my device and its shaped to fit your grip perfectly. I don't purchase a device on how it looks in my pocket, but how it operates and looks/feels in my hand! Wasted space???? LOL. If I wanted a tiny unit I get a 10W iStick and charge it 4x a day. I'll have 150W and run time that will last well over a day! Please show me one mm of wasted space. The coil of the chip goes almost exactly butt up to the battery tray! Brilliant!

That's my point why your wrong. How can it have 30mm of wasted space as you claim if the SX350j board and switch is 76.5mm?? That would mean the SXmini M would have to be 106.5mm in length according to your statement, which of course it's not hence your wrong.

By the way 3/4" is not 30mm, it's more like 19mm. Did you lose 11mm somewhere?o_O

Please show me one mm of wasted space.
On each side of the 18mm PCB and all the way to the top of the toroidal inductor is where some of the wasted space is if you cant see it.

That's great your entitled to like it all you want. That does not make it any smaller or keep it from jutting out of your pocket a minimum of 1.5" in any orientation you have it, which is what I've stated all along as to why it's not pocket friendly for me. Your not going to convince me how comfortable it is. I fully understand how big a 1.54" x 1.63" device is and why I would never ever want one. If you like it great, but go blow your smoke elsewhere, I'm not interested..

I agree on the thickness not being for me but I wear a suit during the day and a thick mod would look like I've got a box of kleenex in my pocket. Someone that can wear cargo shorts at work, I guess you'd have room to where it wasn't a big lump in your shorts (she asked if I was happy to see her lol).

That does look like a nice mod but I like the form of a smaller single battery box.

Anyway, back to the sx mini m...
My black squared is in the mail, should have that and a couple gauges of nickel wire (thanx for pointing that out @rdsok ) by Monday. Woo hoo!

Excuse me! The sxmini is EXACTLY 9/16" taller. 9/16" of WASTED space. And the yihi is also longer F-B. Want to say multiple pictures are lying too? Here's a picture to help you.

You clearly have no concept of design. You can NOT go from two battery width down to the width of the board in a 90 degree turn. Well you could but you'd have one ugly mod and you'd still complain of the dual battery width anyway since that it its widest point. You want a smaller single battery unit, then good for you. You have one. But MANY people like the SX350J Chip and this is most certainly the nicest and most compact dual battery version i've seen. IMO. The only other option would be to put the batteries and chip in a row, and that would keep the device's depth narrower but it would be one wide mod and near impossible to hold & UNUSABLE.... But it'd look nice in your pocket.

Anyway, enjoy your vape with your device in your pocket. And let me know how that pink paint is holding up.

Just got one from them other day and it does fit absolutely perfect but after reading your post you do kind of have a point about the bottom perimeter, but all in all it sure is better than what I had anticipated, texture is great, fit seems perfect, may however cut out around the fire switch with an exacto since I really like that style firing switch but the sleeve helps me out with those + & - steel tact buttons, have some nerve damage in my fingers and hurts like hell to push on them so the extra padding helps out a lot, still wondering how to change those tact buttons out to something that doesn't require as much pressure to push, it's no wonder there's no need for power locking.
Seen some SX M's recently and some other mods with the J wraps they looked good and happen to own two of their mod stands great quality stuff and I've seen some with Vapor Skinz which I thought were honestly hands down the best looking wraps and seem to have the most designs, and I'm thinking about getting a few from them for a number of mods, but the Vapor Skinz M class wraps were really great, but so was the lady who put it on my friends mod, she is skilled in her own rights, I've never done one put told it takes some practice, don't know..

Ginger Vapes is a awesome company IMO, really quick with email replies and shipping, have bought a few things from them and do like them a lot, seem real straight up. Even been looking hard at that Boxer Mod..

I'll be ditching the silicone sleeve for a carbon fiber JWraps, the bottom is way to loose already, the weight of the SX topped with a Kayfun pushes the sleeve out and it sits as there were no sleeve at all.

I have a jwrap on mine but not exactly sold on it. I find it peels easy on the narrow edges on the face of the unit. Not a lot of surface area. Tinkering with idea of sending it out to be either chromed or black powder coated. Yes I am a biker lolol.

There's a custom shop in Az that does that kinda stuff may be worth looking into if the price is right.
On another note with the leaked release of the Dna200 chip I wonder what Yihi has been working on and will release to compete with it :D

There's a few local shops here that do bike parts as well so I may inquire. I think it would look great black powder coated. Def would be protected.

Completely agree after having mine for a couple of days, I've noticed being I have long fingers that where my hand wraps around it seems they land around the screen area and that is stretching out and loose looking, it would look nice if it just sat on a shelf but I am to going to get rid of the silicone and go with the wraps also, kind of a bummer as I did like the texture of the silicone a lot. Every wrap I've seen look really good and they have all said they've had it on for awhile and it still looked good.

I agree. I have a Jwrap on both of mine and the silicone sleeve over one of them and even with the carbon fiber Jwrap, it skips easily.

I think I'm going to go with Vaper Skinz brand, I have some from J wraps and a couple of their stands so I've never used the vaper skinz but do like some of the designs I've seen at their site,
Maybe in the designing of the silicone sleeves maybe they should have made them smaller and tighter I don't know, really glad though that they were cheap enough so not to feel like I got stung.

Sure looks purdy...
The way I hold and fire, and look at the screen - it is way to fat in that direction for me to feel comfortable with.

With the buttons on the side of the mod, wouldn't it tend to fire in your pocket, since it would gravitate to sliding in your pocket slim side against your body. Maybe I just can't see the picture right.

What do ya think of the battle axe form factor?

That turns the gyro sensor off when you're in the menu. you can still flip the display but it won't change settings via tilt

2.2 fixes the order of firing modes and the powerful, powerful + not working in tc modes along with a check battery bug that was in the 2.21

interesting that eco only allows you to vape up to 40j but its cool that it has it's own presets :D Im liking this v2.2 150w I don't have anything to test out the 150 watt atm but I think I can build something in my doge v4 to try it out.
Thank you again f1r3bird
