Very very nice.
I want one just like that, but with the regulated chip from the Asmodus Ohmsmium in it (with the removable faceplate on the Ohmsmium still attached), think that would both vape (love the operation of that chip) and look awesome

Came out really nice, Jeff...!

Thanks man!
They are pretty tiny and feel nice in the hand, the corners aren't sharp or really rounded but they have a nice, clean and minimal bevel.
having a riot with them, I have this guy's little brother waiting for a final coat tomorrow, new button will be finished & I think it's going to look pretty nice!

would probably require a slightly wider box, but the ohmsmium chip isn't very big I don't think...much of it would be in the side wall of the box, if it was mounted to the side...leave the faceplate more surface mounted then flush mounted :D

Hrm.
I had given a little thought to trying something regulated, but they all seem to end up being bulky by the time I figure out the measurements.
Granted, I've only ever thought about the DNA 75.

Hi all!
In the name of science, does anyone have an extra therion door with trashed accent panels, or maybe one you don't like?
I'd be interested in taking it off your hands for a little project, I don't own a therion so I'm not keen on buying a new door, so I thought I'd ask around first before I do.
Thanks and happy Thursday fellow squonkers! Almost there!

Ooh!
First of all; yes, I have a job LOL.... I'm off on leave for the next few days though so I've been stoked to have lots of shop time and unusually warmer weather to play in.
Got out this morning and stared at the bench for a minute, heard my important papers rustling and decided today was going to be the day. So it was.
Managed to get my important paper holders sliced down and sanded to a couple different thicknesses.
These scales seem to be pretty well stable, so I haven't gotten any immediate warpage; hoping once I get them sealed it won't be an issue.

My current build on the Hadaly....28 gauge 430SS, 3 strands twisted, then hammered flat 3mm ID, .25 ohms......beastly, but because it's 430SS, so increases ohms as it heats up, it doesn't vape too hot. A nice flavorful vape

It's colored that way because I just pulled the wick to change flavors....already ran 10ml through the coil :D

Fuck the Frankenfake.
Happy for those of you who found it a nifty bargain mod.
Me...I'm done. I'm turning it into a fucking cat toy.

a) I HATE the way the battery squeezing up against the bottle squeezes up against the firing flapper and changes the nice click into a tough press.
b) I don't like the overly skinny post that NOTHING fits on
c) don't like that none of my atties work on the 510
d) don't like the danger of peeling a battery against the edge of the chinesium contact plates
Yeah, I could replace the 510. Yeah, I could replace the bottle. Yeah I could taper the contact plate edges. Maybe.
Or I could buy a decent fucking mod in the first place.

Also, yeah, I took apart the 510 to see what it would take to replace it, or at least fix that it's too deep.
Yeah I put it back together. Yeah I forgot an insulator.
Yeah, that battery got HOT. First time I ever thought "where's that fucking lipo charging bag I never used even once?"
:tantrum:
Excellent - bag was handy, right there by the old charger!
Yeah, that battery actually looks a tiny bit deformed. Didn't vent, but I'm not takin' out of that bag until I figure out where to get rid of it.
So, Yeah - it's my fault, but still, fuck the Frankenfake.
Oh, and fuck Radio Shack too - because they DON'T recycle batteries - not the one near me...

Never heard of 'em!
But I googled, and they have opened a few (30-something) in California!
Closest one though is over 300 miles away, lol.
I'll find someplace... Maybe "Best Buy"?

Best Buy does recycle batteries. There are bins between the outside & inside doors. They recycle a bunch of random crap.

Kinda want to order an Orca but I know I'd just dick around trying to build it for an hour, get frustrated and then stick it into a drawer where it would rest till the end of time

joking Ah, so you say it's the best damn buy since sliced bread, huh? :D :p :) /joking

 Sorry you had a shitty experience with a mod like that. I know Wally World (Wal-Mart) does recycling of batteries, Home Depot & I think Lowe's does as well.

Damn. I loathe "f5 wars"

Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk

Once the store is back up you can go nuts and not have to worry about fighting over them, My order was caught in the middle of his store's last "down time" so it can be frustrating, but it's kinda hard for me to be mad at someone who knows where to set a limit and not oversell / work themselves.
I recommend anyone who is into modding try his enclosures, they really are very nice!

Sooo.
Found an alternate squonk bottle!

Is it best-ever? Probably not. But SO FAR, it's pretty good - and that alone makes it rare.

Key points -
- It's from italy, so....shipping
- STILL, cheap compared to Sunbox supersquish Cappy, right?
(total cost maybe $8/each for 3, $7/each for 4, etc - because, shipping)
- Really unique sealing at the tube - see below
- SO FAR, no leak
- MIGHT be easier to swing-out or cap-off fill - not sure yet.
- I'm putting capacity at about 6 ml. These are almost identical in size to the original Reo bottle in size, but a totally different cap.
For comparison, the 8.5 ml "fancy italian bottle" really only holds maybe 7.5.
- Closer in stiffness to a Reo bottle than a supersoft. Might soften up with use - don't know yet.

What's interesting:
- FIB seems OOS most places, so an alternative is good to have
- If you LIKE a little stiffy, like the Reo, but Reo cap won't fit in a mini-mod
- Claims to seal against tubing from 3.5 to 5mm outer diameter.

To prevent confusion with "fancy italian," I think this needs a clearly descriptive name.
Italian Gasket Squonk Bottle?
Gasketalian?

INSIDE the cap, there is a little (red) silicone "cone"-shaped gasket. So what happens is, the tube is "loose" through the cap hole - UNTIL you tighten the cap on the bottle. That action squeezes the gasket, which seals up against the tube. You can SEE the hole get smaller as you close the cap.

Sweet! Nice capper too, one of my all time favorites.

An all carbon fiber mod would just be the tits. Super light weight, and the overall size could really be tiny considering strength to weight ratio of that material and corresponding thinness of the sides.

Nice find! The super soft bottles are becoming quite hard to get. A little angel already saved my ass once, apparently I need to start squeezing unicorn tears to mold my own.

Jeff, you have any more made?

I do!
2 are finished and I'm working on the third as we speak, I should be able to start with the top coats on that one tonight, if everything works out I think it's going to be nice!
Dying to show a pre-finish shot but NO.

Finally able to take one of my most favorite mods off the Disabled list. I first made this about 3 years ago it was going to be my take on a Phidias Woodimus but right before I added the inlay I discovered that fonosmaok was still actively making them so I stopped trying to make it an exact copy of his. This is how it ended up.
npxyoUU.jpg

jSrrdnT.jpg

Used it for about a year even though I had no mosfet protecting the switch. Then the spring on the battery contact. slowly caused the top to separate from constant tension.
So I reglued the original top and then I changed out the battery contacts tried a less powerful spring also changed to a different 510 (recessed) and added a mosfet. Ended up like this.
WAIg3OL.jpg

kchc3Au.jpg

Went along fine until last month when the top came off again. So this time I made a new top. And got rid of the battery contact spring all together. Replaced the 510 with a FD V4. Moved mosfet and replaced bottle It is still the smallest 18650 squonker I have. and still gives a great vape. Have been trying it with various atties. But after I got a new Derringer V3 in I went with that. I think lower profile atties look best on this one. Here is what it looks like now.

After working on this one throughout the years it reminds me why I went from using Poly and Lacquers as a finish. To Mineral oil and wax. Because it is not only easier for me to repair. But also any of my customers who accidentally drop their mod and put a dent or a scratch on it can just sand out the imperfection and reapply wax and they are back to brand new again. Plus it just feels so darn much better.

As an addendum to my post. I wanted to talk about the new bottle. After I had ordered them and they were on the way from fasttech. I read some comments on here that they were pretty bad and not worth it. So after I received them I tried to see what I could do to salvage them. I have been using it for about 2 weeks and multiple fills So far working great. Here is what I did.
Compared and replaced the tubing that came with it. The tubing I use on my mods is much thicker but still goes thru the hole in the top cap.
YAMx9XD.jpg

You just have to cut it so it comes to a point to wiggle it through. I also slid a o-ring on the tube that will seal the opening of the bottle so no leaks down the bottle threads. and finally cleaned up the bottle top with a file so the o-ring would sit flush.
0lSl3gM.jpg

So if anyone (my previous customers especially) who ordered some of these bottles from fasttech and wants to try out this fix just let me know.

Hm.
Yes.
I'll need to get a little creative with the contact strip, but I have something in mind that I'd like to try and that would be a perfect opportunity!

@minimalsaint and @Sonar505 , you guys make some great looking boxes, my hat's off to both of you.

Thanks Brew, but I have to stop you there.
I'm not on Sonar's level by a long shot.
My enclosures are milled for me, the only thing I add are holes, some parts and a little creative expression.
Hand-crafted, now that's a different story.
I've admired his work for some time and will continue to do so!

The Wraith has arrived! Not bad! I have the SXK BF-99 with a GG (fairly narrow/small hole) drip tip. I'm using it in TC at 13.5 w & 365 deg. F and I'm liking the vape. I also received the Silver colored Coppervape, I like it but I need to work out a better built for the Hadaly topping it. The brass CV is delayed again, it will probably make a nice surprise Christmas present to myself ( cause I will have forgotten ordering it by then).

Is the mineral oil a one time thing before the wax? And what wax do you use/prefer? Thanks

What I do is give them 2 baths in mineral oil with a wet sand between baths. Then after the last bath when the excess oil has soaked in and dripped off. Then I put on a 50/50 mix of mineral oil and wax melted together and stirred into a paste. (Have used both beeswax and paraffin wax with equal success) Then after it is wired up I put another light coat on it before I ship. Or if kept then I just add rub in a little when I feel it is needed using less and less until after awhile it darkens and gets a smooth and well worn in look to it. You can also us Howard's Feed and Wax $7 from Home Depot. Which adds Carnuba wax for a harder finish. But it does smell orangy for a while.
