My FAVORITE car growing up! Mom and dad bought one brand new in 1968, and my favorite place to ride was in "the far back" with the jump seats down and the back window open, breeze blowing in (that kept us cool, we didn't need A/C). I loved that Country Squire so much, I got a used one as an adult, and I wish I still had it. It could probably hold as much cargo as our pickup and it rode like a Cadillac. Very fond memories of that car. :inlove:

I guess that answers my question about whether there are still drive-in theaters. If a speaker is an "ancient artifact," I'm going to guess the answer is no. :( I still have a cloth measuring tape and an electric frying pan. I never did have one of those four-button TV remotes, but my friend's family did, and I was SO envious that they had such a space-age device, ROFL! WE had to get up off our arses and turn the dial. Now we have hundreds of channels and nothing good to watch, but back then you could be totally entertained with three network channels and PBS.

Thanks for that trip down memory lane. Remembering pop-top cans and 8-tracks and Ford station wagons and View Masters and flashcubes and Instamatic cameras and wringers, and yes, the overfrosted freezer that required all day with a hair dryer to thaw out. Those were the days. :)

If, there isn't any cashiers, I'll put everything down and leave. I don't work for free!!!
There's been a few times a worker will ask why I do this....and I tell them....I don't work free! They give back a blank look on their face, lol.
Maybe, if more people would do this....we'd get back our cashiers??? And, not work free!?!?!?

I was really taught this

I wasn't taught this, but I'd always make sure mum was on the side of me where no one could hit her with their vehicle, always stood behind her in check out, always went before her going down stairs and stood behind going upstairs. Common sense!

There is one store in Topeka that still does this. Always give em a tip, well, if they are unfriendly they do not get one.

Oh, yeah, I forgot that one. The stores here that we frequent always offer to take groceries and stuff to the car (truck), but I think it's just because Rich is so old. He looks like he needs the help. Even if he says no, he can get it, some passing customer in the parking lot will stop and load his groceries into the truck for him. There are some sweet people left on this planet, they're just hard to find sometimes.

The little grocery store in town always brings your bags out to the car, no matter who you are or what your age is, and they don't expect or get tips. They get paid their hourly wage, and that includes helping the customers out to their cars with their groceries, just like in the olden days.

I am a great fan of the old country squires, when I was a kid my dad bought a new 61 country squire with the wood side look and when we'd camp out in the yard if it started raining we would all pile in there, nice big roomy vehicle
