Do you still want me to make that drip tip?
What kind of drip tips are you making? I wanted to make a few Pyrex drip tips but right now my glass and kilns are god knows where...in the big garage somewhere and my torches and O2 tanks are at the old house. It will be a few more months before I get my stuff together.

I could get my small kiln set up and use the small MAP torch with Moretti glass, but the glass might be too "soft".

If you can imagine it I can make it. Mostly wood though.

OK, wood looks nice, I have to find a place for the lathe, all my tools are in boxes now. The only things out of the boxes are the mods and attys

roxy, what percentage of VG do you generally vape? I think my issue may be my 85% VG?

Thank you, that worked :) Know it was in this thread, but bit hard to find in 20 pages :)

Just ordered a black and another silver Merlin, you got me hooked @roxynoodle :D

You made my day, because I remember you were worried it wouldn't suit you :) I think I offered to make you a trade if you didn't like it :giggle:

Is it DIY? Because I know mine is 85% VG, and it might be that it only likes 80% VG :p Also I'm vaping it at 40 watts (or trying to)!

I have one running at 70W. I'm only using DIY now. I might have a small amount of Charlie Nobel left that's over 80vg. Otherwise I'll have to mix something to test.

Can you help Amanda with wicking for high vg? It's not going well for her.

The problem may be that 'high' VG is different according to whether the juice just says 'high VG/ Max VG' or whether you actually know what it is. I can see the odd bubble coming up, but I suspect there may not be enough room between the chimney and the glass to allow me to chain vape at even 40 watts with the VG level I'm using. I'lll have to try it with more PG, because I've wicked it at least a dozen times, and I doubt now that's the issue. But who knows!

One other question - when the afc is closed I can still suck in air - is this usual? I'm wondering whether I don't have a proper seal.

I am vaping ethos crispy treats, not max vg like I thought, just looked it up and is a 75VG/25PG blend.

I fluff the cotton up good and trim, have the cotton going all the way to the bottom of the juice channels, but I make sure it is not up against the wicking hole, I do have juice control fully open.

I get no air with the afc shut.

I have 4 builds now, and have tested 5. Currently:

1. Prototype 1: 3.5mm 26/32 Claton, 1.2 ohm, airhole insert, 21W
2 Prototype 2: dual 3mm 316SS coils, 0.33ohm, 48W
3. Some crazy Raymo coil, 0.29ohm, 70W
4. 4 strands 30g twisted, wrapped in 34g, all ss, 0.58ohm, 35W

I hear ya Amanda...most of my juices are 100% VG...zero PG from Nude Nicotine, even the flavorings are VG base.....the Boreas will take it, but not chain vaping at high watts....so I been using other juices which work fine, anything below 90 VG, no problemo..:).

My dual coil build in the first post is ss, 316, 3mm coils. It's still in my prototype.
I tried a dual build this morning, side by side not over and under. But then when tightening the grub screws I snapped a leg off and temporarily gave up.
They were 28 gauge ss 430, 2 mm id, the outer coil was 7.5 wraps and the inner 8.5 wraps. I'll try again with some 26 gauge something else or something next time.

image.jpeg Got mine built. (#0005) Twisted 28ga 316L 3mm ID, spaced, at .36 ohm. Using rayon for wicking, tails trimmed, thinned and gently tucked to bottom of juice pockets. Airflow and juice flow wide open. 78VG wicking fine in power mode.

Still waiting on black to arrive.

Did you order stainless or black? Black are coming in Wednesday, along with more stainless.
Stainless. Apparently there was an issue transferring my order from the web store to their shipping system.

I got a reply within the hour once I contacted them and they're shipping mine out today priority mail. On a Sunday no less. Like everyone says - top notch customer service.

Had a drive home from TX landing in VA Sunday afternoon and found that I had my Merlin and some other Vape mail waiting for me! I set the other stuff aside, because during my drive I was using my Serpent and wanted to compare for M2L experience. Merlin wins!

With the air flow reducer in place I twisted up some 24awg SS316L around 3MM post. I have no idea how many wraps because I've stopped caring about that. My VT200 says its at .44ohm, set to 40watts, 450F. For wicking I simply trimmed my cotton to sit inside the cup so I can just see it at the top of the JFC hole. Right or wrong way it seems to be working.

Now my "M2L" hits are not like a traditional cigarette. I don't close my throat, I just draw until my mouth is full of vapor then inhale. That being the case, with the reducer in place and the juice I'm using I have been enjoying it with the AFC ring all the way open.

Flavor is on point! I decided to put in some DIY 80vg/20pg 3mg Apple Cinnamon Fritter juice I've had steeping for about a month and a half. I've not been able to use this in any other tank except the T18 because it is just too harsh with the cinnamon. In the T18 it was nice, but lacking my apple and crust notes. In the Merlin I get everything! Yay!

Merlin is QUIET!! I cannot express how happy I am about this! There is not an annoying whistle and loud popping when closing off the airflow like in any other "M2L/DL" tank I have every tried (looking at the Serpent here.) I am sitting here in my cubicle farm using it and no one seems to be able to hear it!

The only thing (don't think it's a con, so I'm going with thing) I've noticed in my experience thus far is that I managed to somehow unintentionally close off the JFC. I'm not sure how since I hadn't even put it in my pocket at that point. But me being stupid and inattentive with things like that is the reason I am a fan of temperature limiting devices.

Thanks Roxy for all the info and great job, I am very glad that I drank to cool-aid because it is sooo good! I will vape through a few more tanks in the Merlin, and this afternoon move onto trying out my new iJoy Limitless RTDA that's still in it's USPS packaging.

So nice to hear :)

When you have a chance, could you post pics of your wicking for Amanda since you're using 80vg?

I have a new cinnamon apple fritter DIY I'm enjoying, too.

I will try, but no build shaming! I'm sensitive.

I'm not sure this would work if I rocked this bad boy as a sub ohm cloud machine, but for me it seems to be working great. I can't seem to get a good angle for the JCF but believe me there is only just a little cotton showing from the top of the circle.

Hopefully these show up, I've never done pictures before.

Nice job!

I've wicked like that also. Currently I have absolutely no wicking showing in the juice flow holes! However, I'm not using the reducer. What else could if not the wicking?

Could you post pics of your build and wicking? Maybe there is something we can tell from the pics?

Here's how I did mine...
928814efaf135cba9bd0ca5ecaa8499c.jpg

Its nothing special, I just tucked the tails in all the way to the bottom then used my smallest micro screwdriver to push the wicks back from the juice holes and make sure it wasn't too tight. I've had zero issues with wicking.

Maybe its not your wicking, maybe its a hot spot on your build giving you nasty hits...
