Nice job!

I've wicked like that also. Currently I have absolutely no wicking showing in the juice flow holes! However, I'm not using the reducer. What else could if not the wicking?

Dang, sorry that wasn't able to help you out. Like Btsmokincat says, maybe a picture of your build would help to try and get your issues fixed. Here's hoping for the best!!

I will try, but no build shaming! I'm sensitive.

I'm not sure this would work if I rocked this bad boy as a sub ohm cloud machine, but for me it seems to be working great. I can't seem to get a good angle for the JCF but believe me there is only just a little cotton showing from the top of the circle.

Hopefully these show up, I've never done pictures before.

Amanda, maybe try a thinned out angle on your wick tails that reaches the bottom of the cups. Maybe the juice isn't able to feed fast enough with the short wick?

Definitely no hot spots LOL

Yes, I'll try that this morning. I can do little MTL hits in TC, but if I do full, flavorful lung hits it goes dry. And in wattage mode it's just not happening (and not all my boxes do SS in tc). I'm determined to get this right :) And this is so bizarre, because the Boreas is perfect every time (and this is not my first rodeo with RTAs LOL)

I do ! just tried it and it vapes ..just a little to tight ...not to bad so.

Hmm...I wonder why. I only checked one last night. So I'm going to check the second right now.

I think I got a teeny, tiny wisp. This is the one I've been vaping at 70W though and no dry hits.

it looks like it is a little sensitive to the juice mix . I am using 50 50 and having the opposite problem . when chain vaping I think the juice gets even thinner and it gives me a little wet feet syndrome again . I have to have my jfc just about closed !!!
not to bad , but next batch I will mix with higher vg and try that .
for me onother solution is to get 3 more merlins and rotate them and don't get them to hot ..lol

Ok - rewicked with rayon. Thinned the tails, angles the tails and put them in the juice cups, took it off tc and up to 50 watts - SUCCESS:bliss:
great Amanda !
my first build was with cotton and was better with my over wicking . changed to rayon and its wicking to much with 50 50 juice .
hmmm back to cotton for me .

I was over at the other place in their Merlin thread and I screen shot a comment I think you'd like Roxy, I going to post it and if I get in trouble or they don't want it here I'm sure they'll delete it.

I'm not sure if they still are? For a few days they made my name a censored word like they do with vaping underground or cuss words. So my 2 years and 15,500 posts that were mostly for helping people were a complete and utter waste of my time! My derision for that forum is endless.

The ecf thread fell off the first 6 pages of a google search by Saturday, so obviously people there aren't interested in it. I thought maybe the mods had deleted it like they did with the first 4-5 Boreas threads, but MMW said it's still there. Merlin is getting a lot more chit chat on the foreign language forums though than ecf, that's for sure.

Cool :D

Merlin is here.

First impression: I like it a lot!!

A variable air port , what a great idea ;)

View attachment 51977

Only glitch was a split o-ring at the base. Which I have plenty of so no problem.

Well done Roxy!! :stars::stars2::hearts:

Damn, I sure didn't want to see another bad o ring after the first run of Boreas when whatever supplier sold garbage ones to Augvape. I think that one is 20 x 1.

Yay!! Yay!!! That makes me as happy as mine showing up today, seriously.

They are just unbelievable over there.

Merlin is in the birdbath atm. Kitteh has an appt in a little bit, so I'll take care of Merlin when I get back from there. I don't want to rush it. I want to savor :D

@kad2371, if you really, really want to go ga-ga, try the alleria, it will blow your mind! Not as airy as the Boreas, smaller volume, but the flavor.......
I have Allerias on the way. Been watching videos on it and everyone is complaining about the machining on the threads. How's yours?

The machining wasn't top notch on the Alleria, at least at first. I'm not sure that's still true though. Leon knows it wasn't up to par, and I expect it's been corrected.

WARNING!!

Do not turn the Merlin upside down in a cup holder with juice control open on a hot day during a thunderstorm
It will leak lol

I had a thunderstorm going over today raining hard as I let my truck during the rain I accidentally left my tank in the cup holder upside down left the truck in a hurry so didnt notice it
When I came back noticed bubbles raising in the tank and fluid coming out the drip tip
Made me feel like a fool
I would guess low outside pressure along with the heat in the truck along with being upside down allowed the tank to leak

Other than that Ive never had a leak during 6 tanks and its always laying on its side so I accept the fault for this leak and being dumb enough not to notice it while leaving the truck

I'm borrowing @Boden's photo for this since it was such a nice one.

Mine is missing a post hole. I normally use single coils, so for now, I can work with that I suppose.

upload_2016-5-23_16-26-17.png

What ID size coils are you guys using?

I left the insert in, I'm more of a MTL vaper/restricted DL type. I built a single nothing fancy 2.4 ID, wicked with rayon. I must've had the JFC open, and the AFC somehow was opened up, but I know I closed that off before I filled it. I lost half a tank before I could get both shut, then it did stop. (noob user)

It's so pretty!

Got mine today. Put a 26g 3mm 6 wrap coil (1.1 ohms) in it. Filled 'er up and began to vape. Then I had juice running out of the AFC. So, I turned it upside down, opened it up, pushed the cotton that's in the cups up against the juice holes. Now it doesn't leak.

I like it so far (except for losing my juice:cry:). That little AFC screw has to go next time I open it up. The draw is a wee bit tight with it in.

I generally match the coil ID to the port ID so 2.5mm.

Closing the AFC ring while filling does basically nothing since the drip tip is still open. If you are using really thick juice it might slow down the juice heading down the air port if there is a leak.

Turn the tank upside down and blow in the AFC hole with a towel over the drip tip. That will clear out any excess liquid from the atty chamber.

OK, I had a 2.4, so I didn't go too small. Good to know. I have trouble with anything over 30 VG, so I'm higher PG, and I had to shut the JFC down a lot. Once this tank is out, I may re-wick and try more wicking. Everything else sounds on par to what you said, except my AFC did open up somewhere in the process. Won't be too long, I'll re-wick.

Flavor has improved since I loaded it up, too.

The afc being open when you fill won't matter on this atty due to the jfc.

Disappointing news. Looks like China shipping is just as slow for vendors as it is for the rest of us. STS said that they aren't expecting the black Merlin tanks in until Friday. Depending on the time the tanks arrive, they may be able to start shipping on Friday, or possibly as late as Monday. Robert sounded a little down in his email. Seems like he's having a rough week.

Something to look out for:

likes to stick to the top when refilling.
I don't have that. Didn't have it when I opened it. I was sure to check cautiously for those when I first took it apart because I remembered someone mentioning an extra and wasn't sure where it belonged. To the spares bag!

That sucks, ordered a black and silver yesterday, thinking they would ship Wednesday, so would have by the weekend, guess not now, but I already do have 1 though :)

;)Huck, now I feel bad for you. I was kidding before, but I really hope you get things squared away. I know STS will make it right, I've dealt with them before and the customer service is stellar.
Looks like I'll get to play with the tank more than you. Buahahaha:wave:
