Well, yeah, the presidential election is probably the LEAST important election. Local, state, senate and house elections are way more important. But, in many ways, I actually am inclined to agree with you. There's an unfortunate "status quo" that's lose/lose for most of the population. I'm totally with you there. No matter who you vote for, status quo. Nothing will change for the average Joe. The slightly above average Joe might find a little more silver in his pocket at the end of the day with a Republican run, and the slightly below average Joe a little less, and vice versa with a Democrat run. But, that's about it. The same money will keep buying the same corruptibles, and anything else is lip service.

I know I don't have the answers on how to fix that, and I don't think anyone does. People for whom idealism trumps income are few and far between, and even more so in politics. But even then, idealism can be far more dangerous depending on the ideals followed. The closest I can come is to abolish voting powers of the legislature, run the country purely as a business, and place the legislation into the hands of the citizenry with popular vote winning all around, including in elections. We certainly have the technology now to be a true democracy and not a parliamentary republic.

I am well aware that history is not written yet, I can look at my own life to know that, I never would have thought that I would be discussing a WWE hall of famer being elected with a pair of people who share a brain cell on an internet forum.
