Just saw four bobcat behind my house, been here 36 years and never saw one....

I spooked a bobcat once, here on our property, right after we bought it and before we were actually living here. It had been part of a huge farm so people had been scarce in the area, probably always. There is a very old graveyard in one small section of trees, and hubbs and I were kind of inching through that area, looking at graves and the one headstone in there. I took one step too many toward the back of that plot, and I heard a sound that I can't even describe - like halfway between a loud hiss and a growl. I saw movement in among some leaves and small branches at the edge of the woods, and I just froze. But there was no misunderstanding that I needed to NOT go any closer.

Shortly after that, we saw some of their tracks in a muddy area, cat tracks nearly as big around as a softball. I'd have loved a glimpse of one of them, but from a good distance would have been fine with me.

We have big bears here, too, and they have grown in population a lot over the last decade. Hubbs has gotten all kinds of pics of them on his wildlife cameras.

One time Camping Upstate I forget where it was but I heard a noise outside the tent. Took my Lantern and lit it to look outside, Face to face with a Bobcat~! To this day I don't know who was more scared but I grabbed my Loaded Shotgun~! He hissed and growled right in my face but was gone before I had my protection.

I live on the edge of a small city, but we have black bear, coyote and deer. I know bobcat are all over but they are usually nocturnal. In the last ten years the wildlife has been booming here.

Same here and that is due to the Pandemic. People are not outside. We have always had Raccoons here but more now and Birds like you wouldn't believe and the Squirrels fuck with me when I am in the backyard. Had one recently throw an Acorn at me. Not that he dropped it he literally threw it at me. I picked it up and almost nailed him in the ass with it~!

I live in the Suburbs, near a Sump or drainage ditch for storm runoff with a Schoolyard behind us, but birds almost fly into my head like Elaine on Seinfeld~!

I think around here people are moving north and driving the wildlife down. I saw rabbits the other day and there haven't been any around for maybe 20 years... Could be what the bobcat in...

Hey we can't forget they were here first before the people moved in, so it may be my backyard but we bought it from the bank and they never got a dime~! I don't mind sharing the backyard with them but don't try to muscle me out~!

Lived at a place having chicken houses in a pasture abutting a woods. A fellow and his family came in to check the houses for the poultry company. We three boys being country boys had spotted cat tracks around the houses.

I had even tracked it back to a den. Come one night I rode up to check the houses with the fellow, his boys. I heard the cat setting up in the wood's edge. Foolish boy went out and got the mama cat to chase me.

Heard one of his boys yell to get down. Then, heard several pops as I slid up under his pickup truck. He had got a .45 pistol from under his seat, one of his boys had a 12 ga shotgun, the other a 30/30 rifle. Betwixt them they killed the cat.

Next day they come in and brought the game warden. I led them to the den where the warden brought out four kits. They got took to the station and would get released elsewhere once grown. That run in with a bobcat entailed a real bobcat.

Had another incident involving a fake bobcat. Went up on a hill with a wood near my grandma's. Uncle Buddy had come up along behind me, stayed out of sight. I heard a bobcat off to my rear, least I thought did. Got down to grandma's to meet with my uncle.

He asked if I had heard and made the distinct "crying" call of a bobcat. Pap chuckled. I wound up shaking my head. We all chuckled. Grandma asked if I got chased by a bobcat. Told her its name was Buddy, she laughed.

Have seen one here. It traveled off and away though, not seen it since and hope to not. Not gravely concerned over the bobcat. Got more concern over the coyotes in the area, & ticks.

Seems to me, that's when you know you'd better make plenty of noise as you go out the door...give those critters a chance to get the hell out of there. I can just see myself taking off out the front door in my nightgown one night, and running smack into a cougar or a bobcat between the front door and my car.

I saw the hind end of a cougar going into the trees not too long ago. I was driving, on my way to town, and this happened about 3 miles from my house. The game and fishery people here in this part of Virginia all swear that there are no cougars here, but people near us have found pics on them on trail cams, and I know good and well what I saw that day.

Bobcat is enough cat for me. The idea of a cougar in the woods here just scares me silly.

No panthers in WV either but plenty enough of us have seen them. They also recently started repopulating Eastern Timber wolves at different spots in the state. I know there's otters, badger up this way as well. Otters don't normally fret over chickens. Still I've heard of them eating chicken on occasion.

Next door neighbors all city like trying to live in country. They let their chickens roam free. The cats up in the barn get a chicken, not my concern. More than enough other predators around what could get chicken. Fox, coyote, wolf, skunk, badger, possibly otter, snakes, bobcats, bear, panther and that's simply ones i can name off hand.

want i should delete da eagle?
No. May be symbol of the nation but it's also an indigenous people symbol. Eagles imho are not seen as political. They a bird more than anything else. Pretty birds too. Torn between watching them or osprey hunt. Yes I know eagles are osprey types of birds, what I'm meaning is osprey out over oceans/seas the osprey hawks.

A Symbol of the USA is not Political IMO and something to be proud to Display~!

Nope... here we like eagles, hawks and doves......any subject in reasonably good taste.....or not :giggle: .... as long as we vape together.....

Cripes. Complaints about eagles? The rulez are no porn and no hatred. There’s enough weirdo hatred in a lotta other places. Lol

I’ve seen Robins on my lawn, but not where they were nesting. I did hear Mallards flying by and honking. They stop at a nearby lake that’s now a Preserve. I think they’re Mallards. They’re white with some color.
