Yeah that was one of those *ahem* overlooked policies we used to slip by as EMTs. We had a large population of elderly and folks with heart issues in our area. We would assist people take nitro tabs. Although the policy is we were not allowed to do that, kind of a medical/legal CYA. Yeah, sometimes you just have to say "f**k it, I'm saving a life".

None of our patients ever come back to sue or charge over us helping them take nitro. And only one wanted to be dipsh** enough to sue over breaking her ribs as we did CPR to save her. Sorry but it's kind known fact, do CPR proper, you will break rib/s. The point being though you can live with a broken rib/s, but not if your heart stops.

And yes, the officers in that old fellows case ought to have training on the use of time. "Hey, let's give old time here. Also while we got a minute, call our supervisor. Let the super call old guy's doc/s. We can get confirmation and not escalate to risking life." But again, no, we see it for what it is, ... rush for money.

*ahem, cough*Fuck the dollar!*cough* Sorry, mild turrets syndrome acts up at times. :)
His friend in the video told them who to call to confirm their story as they put the handcuffs on him but they ignored it and continued with the arrest.
What im seeing these days from the police here in Oz is out of control. But I see it in footage too from all over the world. We need them but we dont need what they are becoming or have become in many instances.
On another subject I was happy and really looking forward to going fishing tomorrow to get out of the house and this town. Alas they have issued a severe weather warning with strong damaging winds for tomorrow and rain the next.

Watch out. They've started playing music when they get recorded. Then, if you post the video anywhere they can nail you for infringement on top of whatever else.

Kind of a real clever trick. "Well, now we need warrant to search all devices for copyright infringement cases. While there grant us warrant for porn, anything suspicious, terrorism and so on."

Trouble they face at least in the states, you can lawfully & legally encrypt & hash your data. You can then lock it down & refuse to grant access pass code/phrase. They can not coerce you to break the fifth amendment, right to not incriminate yourself.
We're having a new law passed now, and I don't know which entity it is here in gulag USA, allowing them to spy on your phone photos, and they were already spying on phone text messages. I've never connected my cell phone to the internet, but I do use it to make videos. As for the rest, it's for each one to decide whether to operate under fear or determination. Compliance brings more tyranny. It's always possible to use a video cam instead of phone camera. I'm not trying to encourage anyone to get in trouble. I'm just saying, nobody should give up out of fear.

If you have access to the cloud, the cloud has access to you. I don't trust any law that gives government access to my records. It will be abused. All of the security apparatus that went into place after 9-11-01 has been abused. And if you hear Snowden, you know they were already spying on you via your cell phone. That's the last I'll say, at least for now. I see what's going on in Smigo's Oz. I watch way too much news, but then I don't want to be in the dark either. It's almost a form of mental/emotional torture to stay aware of what is going on all over the world, lockdowns, curtailment of rights, the economic ruin of the working class, police violence, fear. Again, I want to give comfort to people like Smigo, for what he is going through, for what we are all going through, some having it worse than others, but I don't want to start political brawls.

I never got to film them at the car. When I realised what was going on they'd done the check and as I took my phone out of my pocket and started to point it towards them they left. I wish id been quicker thinking but I was dumbfounded. Not that id use it for anything other than to keep to show others I know here who probably wouldnt believe me that they were doing it. By the time i actually finished fumbling going from camera to video they were down the track looking for others. They saw me though take it out and start to point the lense at them. They didn't seem to care less.
Take a look where I was, seriously. How pathetic going into the bush to try and catch people out and fine them on the eve of the false lockdown ending.
Here's a screen capture after I finally got it going, by then they were about 150 meters down the track. Thats a Victorian Police Divy Van.

I made ginger pineapple coleslaw for a potluck tonight, 6-8 people expected. The thing about cabbage slaw is, if you don't somehow reduce it, salt and sweat it, or simmer it a little bit, it's an oversize pile of cardboardy-fibrous cow food.

So I mixed the ginger with the mayo and a little mustard, set it aside. Toasted some sliced almonds in the oven, set them aside. Sliced/chopped the cabbage, drained the juice from the pineapple tidbits into a pan. Simmered the cabbage in the pineapple juice for just a few minutes, with a little salt and some red pepper flakes. Turned off the heat and added about a half cup of shredded carrot on top, to let it soften a little bit too while the cabbage cooled.

Then put the whole veg mixture into a colander, added the pineapple tidbits on top, let it all drain and continue cooling, to avoid having a soupy salad. Once cooled and drained, I put it in a big bowl, big mistake. Too much stuff, so I transferred it into the big tupper I'm using to transport it, mixed in the dressing, topped with the toasted almonds.

Here is a pic of my pretty coleslaw. I left the almonds on top. They'll fall in when people dip out their servings.

I make Slaw all the time and never cook the cabbage. I slice it very thin and the Mayo and Vinegar does the rest. I like it crunchy though~! Ever had Red Cabbage Vinegar Slaw with Sugar and Cider Vinegar?

I didn't actually cook the cabbage. I just wilted and softened it a little bit. It's still crunchy, just not cardboardy cowfood. I didn't use vinegar or sugar in this recipe, but the pineapple juice is acidic and sweet.

Yes, I like all kinds of slaw. The sugar/vinegar style (green) is what they serve at my favorite barbecue place, and I think of the red cabbage recipe in winter, for some reason. I use chopped apples in the red one too.

Bon appetit!

A long time ago I read about native American planters using fish compost.
Watched a video by a guy who put Sardines into the dirt first than planted whatever he wanted to grow on top of them. His veggies grew really well. Just might work for the radishes.

! WAKE UP ! from the MEDIA SPELL !
We used a product here a number of yrs ago made out of fish. Was a fertiliser.
It made any leafy thing you grew have a fishy taste. It was horrid. It was also a fly magnet. Unfortunately many produce growers use this still. Its the reason why we dont buy silver beet or spinach at the supermarkets. We tried some not long ago, 2 months, to see if they still used it. 🤢
It didn't seem to affect other things but wow did it ruin leafy greens.

That seems to be one of the largest scams ever. The 15-20yr led bulb myth they've been perpetuating. Maybe one did at some point, the newer ones don't. Found that out with the led lights for the truck's interior. They fail far faster than the old incandescent bulbs. A lot of smaller fixtures or ones with brighter bulbs are failing rapidly because while they're low power overall there's a lot of heat buildup at the control board and they burn themselves out using teeny tiny bulbs to try and produce more light than they should.

Yeah the guy at Ace said I shouldn't be using an LED for the stove hood~! I told him I bought them here because they didn't have Incandescent Bulbs and the guy told me these will last longer~! Fucking Ace~!

I was saying that about these led globes just 2 days ago. I actually said those near exact words after replacing another that lasted just over 6 months and it was a supposed good brand one GE "this crap about led globes lasting for yrs is garbage, im replacing them faster than i did incandescents!"
And yes they do build up a lot of heat near the base of them.
Thats catching a number of people out fitting them to their cars in place of halogen. They work good but the heat build up at the base is higher than halogen and the holders not made for them can become brittle over time. People go to replace a bulb when the led needs replacing and things crack and break. Not all but I have heard it happening.
A lot of heat is projecting out front of a halogen, but being held in the housing of led's.
Correct me if wrong.
But that was the info I gathered when contemplating switching my drl's to led's.
Being my car was a new model and nobody had seen what could happen after a few yrs if fitting them in place of halogen it would be suck it and see so I chose to not fit them.

Stuck home from strong winds so decided to try the new mower for the first time. First day the grass has been dry. And the most grass ever we have had here since moving in I think 12 yrs ago. Wettest winter ever, grass everywhere. For us anyway. Yep its a lame backyard but we dont use it for anything and not our place so it stays as is. 1 little mulberry tree and an old nectarine tree.
Greenest iv ever seen it.20210810_133202_(1).jpg

It's still nice that it's coming in and may take it some time but grass will grow. Any green is better than none at all. Pretty cool rock wall as well. Didn't have grass around here for years and suddenly it started coming back. Well a mixture of various grasses and weeds, not a 'lawn' by any means. But it's green. Once I trim a foot path down the drive it looks like shit because the weed trimmer takes it right down and without a catch bag and all it turns dead brown and looks like absolute shit until it rains a bit and the grass grows back. Just gets too thick to walk in. From a distance it looks better. I've always liked the aerial views of the UK and the rolling green hills all over.

Yeah it is good to see it. Green is good good! It means too a good, hopefully, fishing year ahead. My favourite pastime next to detecting. Rain tomorrow but they say ok next 2 days. Fingers crossed. Id prefer to visit the guys in hospital above any of those things ever though. But at present its a no go from Covid. :(
As much as I like us being able to do what we like, id trade it all to visit the guys any day. We can do our stuff again no probs. But otherwise, im feeling so empty and useless. 👎
I hate this feeling even though I know its out of my control.

@Smigo Love the size of that yard~! Looks wonderful to be honest~!
I used to chase my staffy around it with a super soaker water pistol gun with a 2 litre water tank on it. He'd have a huge grin on his face running around and jumping off of that wall as I chased him. We'd do it till we were both pooped. I used to love that, so did he. He also would sit for hours waiting for the lizards to come out of it, the rock wall, in summer.
Unfortunately we get brown snakes too which caused us to keep a nervous watch on him when we let him out in summer. Mostly he stayed inside or on the balcony then. Winter was the best, let him stay out all day.
But for that reason. Snakes in summer we both agreed "no more dogs". I could write a book about them in the yard, him going for them, me falling to the ground grabbing him, me being face to face on the ground with them reared up at us both, him bitten, him getting anti venom nearly dying. Im done with snakes and dogs. It looks like a normal yard but we are just 50 or so meters from an old diggers (gold wash) dam with frogs and small fish in it, snake food and 150 meters from the bush. Its snake haven territory. Nope, done with pets bar my fish tank. Browns are super deadly to animals. Not good for people either but we run the other way from then. Unfortunately dogs and cats run to them.
My mum and dad when they were alive spent near $4000 on dog and cat snake bites where they lived in a small town 25 minutes away from us.
Bare yards, low to no grass, no pets for us thank you very much these days. 👍

There are Benefits and Drawbacks from living in the Country or is it the Outback for you?
Both. But to be honest I think its the same for you guys where you are if you live in the country. We live country, not outback. But both have their things to be aware of. The same as you guys in the US. You have like 7 plus 10 foot plus stand up grizzlys, bigger arent they than that!? Id be terrified going into the places they are. Mountain lions, rattle snakes. At least I guess rattlers give you that warning.
Funny story. Here in Central Vic I once lived near Dunolly, 27 yrs ago I think, goldrush town. There was a gold buyer I met that was from the US. Very well known guy, gone now I think, has not been here since 2000. Great guy and very funny. His name was Rattle Snake John. I once met him in the Dunolly pub. We were talking and he said "you know ...... I love this country and coming here but you know what I miss." Im no not really what? He says "my handgun, this place is crazy". Im "yeah its not that bad, yeah our snakes n stuff but you guys have those monster grizzlys"
He says "Grizzlys! Ill take them any day, im talking about your crazy gold prospectors! I dont feel safe here!" :giggle:
He went on to say how he'd been coming here to buy and take it back to th US and told me of the hairy crazy situations he'd been in at Dunolly and Tarnagulla. I was living at Tarna then. Im "yeah theyre nuts but I keep to myself and the loonies I warn off". "Just watch your back" he tells me. He was right but I was never one to hitch up with other than the good old timers. Theyre all gone now and I have no gold mates left. I know people but none are mates or friends.
But the funniest he did was say "hey ..... I brought these over" Im "yeah what?"
He hands me a small egg. I take it in my hand and it starts to vibrate. Im "what the...." He says "theyre Rattle Snake eggs!" I drop it like a hot potato on the table with my jaw dropped and eyes wide open. Rattle Snake was now in hysterical laughter with me saying "whats so funny?" They were joke eggs that when you dropped them in someones hand started vibrating with a rattle sound.
Mongrel, stooged me bad. Funny guy, great memories. Those days are gone though. Just all idiots now. The old time characters are gone, the real prospectors. Miss those days to be honest.

Here is my simple summer breakfast today, one of the wonderful organic mini watermelons that have been abundant in the stores this year. I had to run an errand this morning, so I also had a breakfast taco from the taco joint. Later on I need to figure out what to do with the little bit of leftover pineapple slaw I brought home last night. Maybe a fish taco, using frozen Gortons or something.

Watermelon.jpg

I sometimes think of putting the watermelon rinds in the yard as compost. If I chucked them under a tree, probably nobody would notice, but then I'm afraid it would attract cockroaches.

Well, I kinda figured you weren't growing pasta spirals in your yard, and I've never seen you mention raising chickens, but all the time I see your garden handiwork in your dinner pics. The zukes aren't yours?

I've been curious on Aquaponics. A lot of Preppers use them.

! WAKE UP ! from the MEDIA SPELL !
It's an interesting subject, though I've never tried anything like that. I know there are very old cultures where they grow crops until flood time, and then fish the same fields after flooding. No references coming to mind immediately, but I've read about it in the past.

Some rare few can be 15 feet tall standing upright on hind legs. You can pray they don't take a wild fur up the bum in passing you. They don't need any reason to attack humans. Spot one, run the opposite direction and get to shelter. And sometimes even shelter doesn't help.

As renter without garden space of my own, other than kind of informally managing the landscaping for my indifferent landlady (unpaid, and along the lines of being her nagging pest), my vote for organic gardening is to buy organically grown food, as much as possible, and I don't think it costs that much more than conventionally grown. It's better for the planet, and better for me.

But the point of this pic is that this is the first time I ever brought home dill, opened the clamshell, and saw the sweet little flower umbels still attached.

What a freakin day~! Did the job over in East Hills this morning which I had to wait around for 45 minutes until the person came home~! Then come home to a TLTT story about my Mom and a Scammer who almost had her going to the bank~! Took all my calm to not meet the MoFer but I called the cops and made a report. Then to kill the time waiting for an Officer to come (3+ Hours - Not an Emergency) I built a Firewood rack to store and season it. Used Trash wood from the neighbors house again. No Plan just measure what I have and cut to make what I needed.

Was that a phone scam? Or did someone come to the door? Gawd, scary world. They prey on the elderly.

You're showing some very nice work there. I see that vape nearby :)
