So true. I've pretty much gotten backlash most places, forums, social media etc for being a long winded gas bag lol. Unless I'm really in a hurry I'm not great at 140 character post it notes. I type the way I think, the way I'd speak. And if I'm trying to help someone I try to lay it all out as clear as possible so I explain myself and they grasp my point. Part of that's me thinking I fail to be clear rather than their not getting it.
Too often I've asked for help even with simple things. Maybe it's me that's dense. Like even an online game. How do you do this or that? And I get "on the screen click the thing". Do what?! What the fuck's 'the thing'. Maybe it works for others, maybe my esp is dull. I do prefer longer complete thoughts and sentences. My social media posts I'm sure make people groan. (Are fb responses supposed to be 6-8 paragraphs?) lmfao.
I haven't been quite as wordy lately, but have been known to do just what you're talking about.
In real life, I can make explanations EXTREMELY long, and have discovered that you can see in another person's eyes when you've "lost" them. They get to their saturation point and then just can't take in anything else, or they're too bored and just want to slink away. lol With me, I always just figured it was a natural result of writing program code for 30 years. Sometimes one needs to give background information in order to understand the matter at hand!
And yes, I write mostly like I speak, although I might go back and clean things up a little bit if there are glaring grammar errors or misspelled words in a post. Well, and there are some things I say in speech that I wouldn't want to include in a post - like the generous use of f-bombs that I picked up from my son. I swear I've tried to clean that up, but haven't been too successful.
"Click the thing" would make me lunatic crazy. That would be a person I'd want to hunt down like a dog.
All that to say....you aren't by yourself. Personally, I like long posts, so I'll read yours.
