What are you cooking?

It's my turn to have supper club here tomorrow night. This is a test run of my salad. The ideas that came up this time were "BACON!" and "I have three kinds of figs" (me), so this is my part:

Figs, bacon, bleu cheese, grapes. Mmmm, the combination of these things in the mouth is incomparable. I'm showing it before I dressed it with just a little of a mixture of mayo and dijon mustard:

Figgy bleu bacon.jpg

I ate about 20 figs before making this. Gawd, can hardly move. I would have been happy with pecans instead of bacon, but we try to honor faves and craves. I'll probably also make bacon-lettuce-tomato-avocado salad, if my avos get ripe enough by tomorrow.

The two bottles we shared for Friday night supper club here, along with chile con queso and chips for appetizer, various make-your-own sandwiches, potato salad, the figgy bleu salad I pictured previously, and for those with an aversion to bleu cheese, a bacon-lettuce-tomato-avocado salad. For dessert, ruby cacao coated ice cream bars, strawberry cheesecake dip with little shortbread cookies for dipping, fresh blueberries and blackberries.

The Snoop Dogg was popular, but I wouldn't get it again for myself. It had a tart peachy profile, bringing to mind a Zinfandel. I've never cared for Zinfandels. This was 15.00. The Beringer was the cheap treat, 5.00 for the bottle, really tasty. I would get it again for drinking or cooking. Both of these are stock photos, since I forgot to photograph before taking out the recycling.

Maybe next time we'll have the fabulous bottle of Cremant de Bourgogne I found when shopping for groceries. It usually sells out immediately when it comes into stock.

Smigo, I'm sorry you're offended by the wine.

American black entertainers who were a part of the 1980's-90's wave of hip hop entertainment went through a lot, and many of them were in that genre in reaction to continuous police harassment in their neighborhoods during their teen years. There was high tension between the police and the entertainers. The police followed them everywhere, tried to censor their lyrics, tried to keep them from having a voice, just as the police and FBI followed Martin Luther King in an earlier decade, spied on him, trying to get something on him, to shut him down.

If someone had drug charges as a youth, I can't hold it against them forever, but in any case, Snoop Dogg's criminal record has been expunged. Some justice has come in more recent years, but it was actually back in 1996 that he was acquitted of the murder charge, due to lack of evidence.

We're not supposed to discuss politics in this forum, but our current, um, "national leader" has had an old news article turn up in which he referred to black people as "like cockroaches, dangerous to our society because they're going to breed and breed and take over our society". This is an attitude that black people faced for decade upon decade here, before the tide of humanity finally began to turn, in spite of the facts that black people here have the lowest rate of live births, the highest rates of federal incarceration, the lowest levels of education, the lowest average income, the highest rates of substance abuse, and the shortest life expectancy.

"No hope-no fear" is a context in which young people do things they regret later in life, no matter their their race or socio-economic background, but if you read up, you'll find there is nothing to hang on Snoop. There was a rape charge around 2003, which was dropped, and this is another thing the alphabet agencies will do, find a woman who knows the target and offer her considerable money to cry "rape". It happened to Julian Assange too. The ex-wife of a vape seller, "Juicy Vapor", tried to ruin him too, with a false claim of sexual molestation of her daughter, his step-daughter. Any mention of Juicy Vapor was censored out of the other forum, where he was tried, convicted and hung before he even went to trial, so I followed the case. He was found innocent due to zero evidence. For more than a year that this was supposed to have been going on, that he went into the adolescent girl's bedroom, made her watch porn on his phone with him, and did things to himself in front of her, there was no evidence, no bodily fluids in the mattress or the carpet for DNA evidence, no history of porn on his phone ever. A false accusation of rape or sexual misconduct is the most vile of charges, because of the fact it has to be taken seriously in case it's real. A false accusation of that nature can ruin someone even if it is later uncovered as false.

He still in his adds here has woman in the adds as whores like he's a prostitutes pimp.

His drug charges were for possession, never for drug dealing, and many of those charges didn't stick. He was acquitted of the murder charge.

I think, on the whole, we hold celebrities to a higher standard than we do the ordinary citizenry, and black people are held to an even harder standard. Anybody who ever had a kid or a family member who got caught on drug possession, has to believe in a better future for that person once the lesson is learned.

When I look at the pharmaceutical industry, paying out billions for drug harm over the decades, including opioid addiction among youth, I have to ask who is really dealing in death.

When I look at that vid, I just see an advertisement for food delivery. It isn't the most clever, and doesn't seem to highlight the brand very well or make the food look appealing the way an ad like that should, you would think, but otherwise I don't see anything criminal.

I won't talk about it anymore.

Because someone is a Celebrity does not make them a Politician, Doctor or a Scientist. They are no different than we are, they just get paid more.
I still don't quite understand the point you are making.

I posted a pic of a bottle of wine we had with dinner on Friday. I responded to Smigo's strong comments that I felt were inaccurate, about the person whose face is on the bottle. I didn't post that video or suggest that anybody should like Snoop Dogg or his work, or listen to his words or watch the video or like anybody's music. I don't even like that video. I merely pointed out that Smigo's assertions that he reached his celebrity status through crime are inaccurate, never having dealt drugs, never having been convicted of any murder.

So I don't get how you think I'm putting him up to become your politician, your doctor or your scientist.

Smigo, I hope you are okay. I hear of awful things going on in Victoria. Haven't seen you post for a few days now.

I pray every day for Australia. Some believe that what befalls Oz will occur here in the US within a year later. True or not, I want for Australia that free, friendly, casual humorous national personality I have always encountered.

This is all I know about this one. My misses made it.
The most is like a normal cake with all I know peanut butter, wholemeal flower and stevia as sweetener. The Chocolate part has organic cocao or whatever 😀.... but that section has the consistency of mud cake, the rest like normal cake.
I was amazed how nice it was!
The chocolate part is awesome.
