That's a great movie. I think we own it. Did at one time at leastHaley Joel Osment. Did you ever see Secondhand Lions with him, Robert Duvall, and Michael Caine? Super movie, haven't seen it on anywhere in years but I'd love to watch it again.

The Professor and the Madman
I enjoyed this one quite a bit, interesting story. Penn's performance was superb imo.
I'll take a look, thanks. You might like The Last Gunman. I think Penn did well in it.
I should have bought it, too. It's near the top of my list of favorite movies ever. "The Cider House Rules" is probably my very favorite, which is another of Michael Caine's.
Isn't that by John Irving? He's one of my MOST fave authors, but somehow I've never gotten around to that one. So far my faves of his are Hotel new Hampshire and A Prayer for Owen Meany. Best author I know that can make you laugh your ass completely off AND cry like your heart is breaking, in the same damn book.

Yes, it is Irving, and ignorant me didn't realize the movie was based on a book. It's now a must-read. Thanks!
I have read A Prayer for Owen Meany, it was outstanding.
TBS used to show that movie all the time. I loved that movie.Haley Joel Osment. Did you ever see Secondhand Lions with him, Robert Duvall, and Michael Caine? Super movie, haven't seen it on anywhere in years but I'd love to watch it again.
Yep!! Was surprised how much I enjoyed that one.Ready Player One, and its a really good movie
I thought it was alright...Im not a big fan of politics being shoved down my throat while Im entertaining myself.Saw Cap Marvel last night. Pretty good. Particularly enjoyed the flerkin. Who knew that Cthlulu had invaded extra-terrestrial cats! And my son had us wait for the last scene, the lead-in to the new Avengers movie, so I'm looking forward to that even more than I was after that godawful horrible non-ending on the LAST Avengers movie. Wish to hell it would hurry up and hit premium channels or blu-ray.

Check out Solarmoviez.ru if you want to stream the movies you cant buy yet...Its a good way to tell if the movie is worth the purchase to watch in high quality.
Its kind of annoying to have to exit the spam pages but if you do it 2 or 3 times then you can watch the movie or get around the site.

I didn't notice any politics; I was just wildly entertained by seeing the Blockbuster video store she crashed into, the 90s internet (Altavista!), and also how they made Coulson and Fury so youthful, and Fury without the eyepatch, and how he got it. My son said that seeing Samuel L. that youthful put him in mind of Pulp Fiction, which, GAG, I HATE Tarantino movies, but particularly that one!
And I truly did enjoy that flerkin.

That free Pluto streaming service is not bad.
"Pluto much butt it kicks." Tubi is also another good service. I think the big wig said they'll not ever have more than 10 minutes of ads per every 45 minutes of content. And they pop up a little unobtrusive sign while watching. "Commercials in 1 minute, 50 seconds, 40" it has a little disc that counts down. Then they have the same iconography tell you how many ads remain until they put you back into the content, and they usually rewind the content just to the last portion of the last scene you saw prior to ads. That's helpful cognitively I find.
OH but did you see Django Unchained? Generally I'd rather be whipped than to sit two hours for Tarantino, but Django was a whole 'nother beast. I LOVED it. I walked out of the theater going, now what did I just see? Made me think for quite a while, and I'm still not quite sure, but it was great.
Christoph Waltz was fabulous in it.
Sidebar - I would never have deliberately gone to the movies to see it. I was actually in the theater for a Metropolitan Opera Live in HD broadcast. I lasted about 20 minutes in that particular show - had paid $22 to get in and was NOT gonna leave without lodging a complaint. Theater folks told me I could go see any other show they were playing, so Django is where I ended up.
Hmm... my son had told me Django was "classic Tarantino" so I'd given it a miss -- couldn't stand Pulp Fiction, it made me feel all "ugh creepy crawly" all over my body, I wanted to wash out my mind when it was over. And normally I'm a HUGE fan of ANYTHING vampire, but I didn't even care much for From Dusk Til Dawn, though it was less offensive than PF -- actually it reminded me a little bit of John Carpenter's remake of The Thing, which I liked, but found to be the SCARIEST movie I've ever seen -- and I'm normally a big fan of Carpenter's work (though Escape from LA didn't even APPROACH Escape from NY!).
He just got home from somewhere, and I asked him, and he said "yeah it's pretty bloody", which I guess is his definition of "classic Tarantino", but I've been watching American Gods on Starz, and it's VERY gory, and it didn't bother me too much... so maybe I'll check out Django. Thx!

Hey, Andria. We enjoyed Pulp Fiction. But hey, my husband loves weird and/or violent movies.
The Thing was fucking creepy, I agree. Very scary, and not because they show a lot of gore.
In our not going to movies, we missed the Django one. I haven’t been to a movie theater in ages, and I’m not missing it. And now that I can’t vape in one, no contest.
I haven’t turned on the TV in about a month now, which sounds kinda Amish.
No Tarintono stuff for me.
Wife likes the suffering and trauma stuff though.
Yeah, I'm definitely in the minority, hating Tarantino as I do. It's hard to put my finger on, but he AND his work just make me raise my upper lip and go "eugh." I couldn't even stand the Kill Bills, though I like nearly everyone who's in them... except that ugly wench Uma. What a stupid name. But both he, and his movies, have this sense of self-conscious self-amusement... I know, that sounds weird, but it's the feeling I get from him and his movies. Also the feeling I get from 99.99% of Zappa's stuff... though I like that one you posted above, @The Cromwell.
The Thing doesn't have to be gory, it's just plain frightening, the way that Thing can take the shape of ANYONE. Pure psychological horror -- at least, in Carpenter's version. My ex had me watch the original, made in the 50s, and it was just plain funny, the effects were so tacky.
