waiting for wire but dying to make something. i had some 24 and 30 gauge scraps left over so i took another crack at a boneyard. wanted to see what it looked like claptoned, but i only had a couple feet of 30g. i did like an inch for kicks, then unwrapped it and re wrapped it loose enough that i could cover the whole piece of boneyard equally. now im out of wire completely...

dual 3mm four wraps came to .14. vapes pretty good considering its made of a few feet of random wire on spools i might have thrown out if i wasnt so bored.

edit - cool, i hit bronze from this post :shades:

Hey builder people!
I'm kinda in a builder slum, anyone have good build ideas lol. I need something fancy (and vapable) before Sunday to bring to a vapecon. Thinking of some kind of alien fraple variation or something. Anyone have anything fun in mind?

A stitched alien framed staple build is always nice.
I've never done a stitched build, to I just run a piece of wire through the decored Clapton after I've stretched it? I should've mentioned something possible using only 40g for the wrap lol.

Yup. That's all there is to it. But, you run the stitching wire through it BEFORE you stretch it. Also, you generally want to use a smaller gauge wire for the stitch than you use for the Clapton.

Hmm I don't have enough 38 left I don't think for a full run and 36 is pretty much just for when I give/sell people builds. I guess it'd be alot easier to run it through before I stretch too, threading it after might be a bit...difficult.

What I used was 26 frames, 0.5 ribbon, 36 Clapton and 38 stitch. 40 would probably have been even better for the stitch.

I'll try a basic stitched alien build with 36/40 Friday then and see how it goes before I waste some ribbon. Thanks chef. On a separate note, how possible do you think a staggered framed staple alien is? I mean I see the wrap being impossible to get consistent enough to fit in the grooves every time.

For a staggered, make sure you have something to patch up the holes in your wall when you start throwing shit out of frustration. Otherwise, a spaced framed alien staple is a nice option, too.

Here's a double-spaced one that I made a while back:

Lol it can't be any worse than learning to build aliens for the first time, now that made me want to throw a tantrum like a damn 5 year old.
I like the spaced aliens, if I can keep them super clean lol.

If you want to double space them, just don't stretch out the decored Clapton as much as usual. Then put a pretty decent angle on your lead as you wrap. That's all there is to it.

You'll end up spending more on drywall putty than the all the wire you've bought or ever will buy. Im close to needing a new chair... Tried em earlier this week, not successfully i might add. Each 1/4" section that came out good looked great but even though i used 33 for the stagger and 36 for the wrap i still couldn't get it to lay consistently and when i went to coil the wire the ribbon cores flipped inside and bowed out through the wrap. My chair, as i mentioned earlier, took the brunt of my frustration induced rage

I routinely sit down for 2-3 hours to build/ coil two coils so with enough patients anything should be possible. If my attempt resembles some kind of coil I'll post it up, and any damages I cause as a result lol

Its possible for sure but my attempt spanned about 4 hours(with breaks of course) unwrapping and rewrapping, fixing the ribbon cores, rebinding my wires, etc...etc... When i finally got something worth giving a try, it took a shit on me and now i know i can do it i just feel its not worth the headache atm. All the best luck to you and if you do try the staggered i highly recommend at least making the stagger wider than your alien wrap to accommodate the curve

Okay I'll remember that thanks man, 4 hours sounds like an insanely frustrating amount of time though lol

I just watched squidoode get pissed at one in his 35 minute tutorial, didn't noticed that the first time around lol. I can only imagine how bad it is the first time around.

Well just threw this together. Trying to test the build space available in the Twisted Messes RDA. And FINALLY found a use for the spool of 20g laying in the build box.

Took a 28/38FC and staged it with 20G. Was shooting for .09, hit .08.

I almost forgot how hard 20g is to wrap.

Anyways it's on the Abaddon and it's got absolutely no ramp up time, warm-hot vape and pretty great flavor. Just as much flavor from your standard FC, but with the heat of a 20G build.

It would you'd just have to put it in the Ti mode and go 80 degrees cooler than you desired vape and it'll work in any mod that has a Ti setting. I saw that you wanted 200ft PM me

Sent from the lab in my basement of vapement
I will take 200ft while your offering lol

I had the NC for a few months before realizing I needed a parallel box as well.. Might knock both out and just get a HOG?

Matt
I have thought about that. Considering you can pick up a v2 clone for less than 50... I thought about getting that and a4 pack of Sammy 25r's and calling it a day. Only really plan on using it while at home. Won't need get a fanny pack to carry that thing around! Haha

@BrattVapes Hog V1 is a quad parallel and the Hog V2 is a Para-Series (2S2P) only...

If you want a box that does both Series and Parallel then look into the Cherry Bomb V2, the Lucifer, and Ive seen a few Homemade boxes on Ebay with the capabilities...

Did you get your HOGv2 yet?

If so, what builds are you running on it?

Yea I know...trust me...my fingers remind me every second since...I just need to remember to clip the leads before proceeding with anything else, I somehow manage to get pricked After I scew them down and then when I reach for something a long lead jumps out and bites them.

The Ebay link isnt working...I bought a few off from Ebay and so far the handles are too wide for the drill, just like Dawn mentioned. This is why we were asking you and MR G for the location you guys picked them up.
I have bought this one LINK
This one LINK
This one LINK

I havent tried these yet:
LINK
LINK

I did manage to beat one of them into a 1/2" Socket but with the chuck bit in the socket with wobbles too much and at higher speeds I know it would toss it out and quickly..

I was thinking of using the Idea from the Goon RDA's Clamp design and get some small bolts and nuts and bars around the same size and make some super small bar clamps...It would be a pain in the ass to set up the wire though every time...

Any that I find, I would have to get my big T-handle drill out of the garage to fit into the chuck... or into the drill press! HAHA Too bad the drill press isn't foot controlled variable speed! How nice that would be!

Ive been playing with Ideas for some Hybrid Coils....
Guatch from IG has made me rack my brain on what can be done using hybrids and I decided to get my toes wet, granted Im no Guatch or anything..

Hybrid Specs:
Outer Coil Wraps: 5 x .8R/24N80/40N80 Framed Staple
Inner Coil Wraps: 6 x .8R/2 x 22KA1/36N80

The last 2 builds I did on the Mason...Its really good for the first second and then its too hot afterwards...I still havent found the perfect build for the amount of space in that RDA yet but I will soon!
Figured I'll pull it over from that other thread as to not derail there. What's the largest ID you could fit in that monstrosity?

Maybe if I had that wire...I only have 22KA1 as the lowest Gauge..I guess I could take 4 strands and twist it...
Honestly I'd just be curious to see the biggest damn coil you could put in there. Building it to look like it's a 22mm build but really it's twisted 22g wrapped with a 10mm ID and 12 wraps. :giggle:

I prefer a different type of hybrid. It's a fused Clapton, wrapped with stitched alien binding.
EDIT: It might be a staple core, not a fused Clapton core. I can't remember. The 80's were good to me...

Speaking of build space on this TM... I think I'm going to build this tonight.

924c147b4c976cccc48a51376ec951b5.jpg

He used FCs, I think I'll use single core claptons because I don't feel comfortable firing .06 on my Mech...

We'll see how it turns out!

Yea those are tiny coils...I sure couldnt pull that off with 2.5mm or bigger ID's

I wouldnt fire a .06 build unless its got 3-4 batteries in parallel or its regulated and can fire it...
