Well, therein lies the rub. Many religions mandate that their believers go out and "spread the word". So in exercising their religious freedom, they seek to "impose" their beliefs on others. They don't see it that way, they believe they are trying to "enlighten".

It may have been self serving of the religions to mandate that, or it may actually be Gods will, I dunno. I admit that I do not KNOW anything regarding religion. It is faith based, by nature.

But what bothers me, is the SAME guy that is pestered to sign a petition by someone holding an opposite social belief that DOES directly affect his life, will just respect the others right to his opinions and beliefs, and just move on, but will openly CHALLENGE the beliefs of someone wanting a moment to do what their religious beliefs tell them to do. Even though THAT guys beliefs have NO sway on his life, whatsoever. Why IS that?

That is because liberals demand you tolerate their wishes and desires while they tolerate nothing.

Citation please? I am not aware of a single instance of a law that bans individuals from praying in schools. I'd be the first one to oppose such a law, just as much as I'd oppose one that required it.

I cannot respect or like that. I am VERY far from atheist, I believe in a great many spiritual ideas, but I am under no misapprehension that my way is the right or only way -- it's the only right way for ME... only YOU can decide what's the right way for you. But people really are sheep, most of them; they need to "belong", to be a link in a chain, and a lot of them feel this burning need to go out and tell everyone they meet that being a sheep is the only right thing to be.

Im not an overly religious person but I am a believer. The amount of times I been to any form of church for any reasons since I become an adult can probably be counted on ten fingers with many fingers not counting. I havent touched a bible in years yet I use to love to read, especially Revelations and the book of Daniel dealing with the prophecies of the end of times. The way everyone has been becoming anti Christian recently makes me think of those prophecies.

How people are I can really give a rats ass. If someone believes or doesn't believe, that is their business yet some things in this crusade against Christianity is plain wrong. A child is punished and ridiculed for praying in school. What part of no prohibition on the free exercise of religion did they not understand? A group is told they can not send care packages to our troops because they are Christians. WTF?

These things I think about at times. Is the world in control of the wicked one? Are prophecies about to be fulfilled? Damn if I know but I do think about it at times.

It takes a LOT of courage to say these kinds of things, Doc. FWIW, I think those thoughts too. And I am HORRIBLY allergic to tinfoil hats. LOVE your point about mandates AGAINST prayer. Spot on. I try to keep perspective about the amount of evil in the world though. Post Revelations, history certainly has plenty of periods where the world positively DRIPPED in evil, and it was obviously not enough.

Anyone can pray. Organized prayer by the school is prohibited because it will pressure those who do not want to pray. Which is exactly what religions want, pressure.

I agree. When I am in the presence of someone who states that a true Christian must believe that non-believers are all going to hell, or one of those kind of extreme views, it is WAY more than I can do to hold back my tongue. I've lost friends over that ridiculous ideology, and bon voyage. If there is one thing I cannot tolerate, it is intolerance.

I grew up with a mother who is a Jehovah's Witness and a father who was a Christian Scientist who hated Witnesses. Tell me that aint fucked up. But one thing I always believed is everyone has the right to worship however they want including not worshiping. I have talked with many people from many faiths and always got along with them and had some very spirited discussions that never turned into a shouting match like that which will occur with an anti Christian. I have no problems discussing religions with others who wish to discuss religion, and I also have no problems avoiding the subject with anyone who wants to avoid it.
I agree many are sheep and have no idea why they believe what they believe. They are pretty much Christian in name only yet there are many more out there that want answers, they want to know yet are not aligned with any named religion. I kinda fit in that category.
I myself will never look down on anyone for their beliefs, or lack of beliefs. Its just not my place to judge anyone. But I also will speak out when I think something is wrong when our government or others special interest try to stop people from having religion.

No where was it school led prayer, nowhere was it schooled ordered prayer, it was the opportunity if the children so chose to that was objected to and ruled upon. The SCOTUS ruled against it which set a legal precedent which bans schools from even allowing school kids the opportunity to pray if they chose to. When a legal precedent is established, that is in fact law.

No, kids can still pray if they want to, and many still do. In my book, having a law that says "You will set aside a minute for meditation or prayer each day" is government mandated prayer. We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Yeah it got to the point where I don't even watch the news anymore because of all of it. Every other story is someone whining about something someone did that upset them and must be put to an end. This.^ The only world I am a master of is my own, but in it I am the supreme ruler and can choose what does and does not affect me.

I am sure that you already know this, Dale. Expats in most every country must have international health insurance. In my preparation for.. a hasty exit, I have obtained quotes for that insurance. Although I believe it can be used anywhere (except maybe your home country?), they ask what country you will be residing in. When I got quotes for Malaysia, it was CADILLAC insurance, $200/month. Clearly, something is MAJOR fucked up in this country.

One serious problem is the duplicity in the for profit health care game. Go to any medium or large city, and there are MANY MRI machines. And EVERY damn hospital wants to put you into it. They have payments to make. In Canada for instance, not that I want to hold THAT model up as our goal, you want an MRI, you HAVE to go to a particular hospital. You need a specialist, you might have to travel to another city. Inconvenient perhaps, but damn efficient.

What really pisses me off is the fact I can buy prescription drugs in Ecuador for less than the cost using my health insurance here, which pays about 60% of the (inflated) cost.

The exact same pharmaceutical companies charge 2/3 less what they charge here in the states in S. America....I can pay cash for the same prescription manufactured by the same company for less than what it costs to buy the drug here with insurance.

The people in Ecuador cannot sue a pharmaceutical company, therefore the price of prescription medications are incredibly low. This is one fucked up country we live in. Shit like this makes my blood boil.
