They wouldn't last if we even had such a thing here... Lannie would wick 'em up.
During cotton harvest, I could pick up at least 20 pounds of cotton off the side of the road. Sure, I could clean it up, but I doubt I'd get the insecticides out of it.

Now that is weather I could live with. I don't think my ancient body could handle that 115 crap you were having, which is why I never came back to AZ... not that we are much better here, but it doesn't stay over 100 for very long like at your place.

Always loved Hawaii, but I'm not sure if I could take the humidity. Spoiled with low humidity....even 30-40% I'm uncomfortable.
Guess you could buy a "shack on a shore", with the wind blowing continually, that would be nice.....but not enough money for that shit, so it's EC or AZ.

I did one week on Oahu in the Fall (supposed to be the "good time of the year") and was soaking wet the whole time. Nope, would never live there and I doubt I'd even visit again.

Or the big island where Juice is heading.....seemed to always be a nice breeze there, prolly from the volcano making its own climate....but it's damn nice being away from the crowds.

How fast could Lannie wick up a module of cotton?

We weren't near crowds on Oahu either (except the one day in Honoruru). We stayed at the Turtle Bay Hilton, north shore.

Mostly wading in tide pools... I never saw a wave more than 3-4 feet while we were there (wrong time of year?), so we did some hiking up creeks to neat waterfalls.
That is beautiful....haven't been on the north side since the late 70's.....I'm sure it's much different now.....mucho hotels and restaurants.

I think it was 1986 (?) when I was there. The only hotel on the north side was the Hilton and a couple tiny hole-in-the-wall cafe's farther west, but nothing big and flashy like the south side of the island. You could actually pretend you had beached on some unknown unexplored island back then. The scenery was unspoiled by tourists and well worth seeing (if you didn't mind your shirt sticking to you from all the humidity).

Reminds me of Fiji....that is one beautiful place....especially all the deserted islands spotting the ocean.... a buddy of mine has a tour boat, he dropped me the GF off on an island and picked us up the next day....that was really neat....no phone service....nadda...just like Gilligan's island, without fruitcakes.

I've never seen water like around Fiji anywhere else on earth, even beats some of the remote islands Thailand owns. Just crystal light blue.....you can see into the water like it wasn't even there.

But I am the Professor and my 2nd wife pretended to be Maryann and the bar waiter at the Hilton looked kinda like Gilligan...

Never been to Fiji, but I spent a long time staring into the waters of the east coast of Italy. Never ever saw anything that light blue and clear before....

Gee, the motorcycle posts must have really tripped some triggers here...
Well, never did get a picture of my first motorcycle (1949 Indian) because I didn't even own a camera in 1966, but here's my first bike after I went to England 1968 (we were not a permanent unit on base - weather guys were a detachment, so the base commander's order of "no motorcycles" did not apply to me) - this is a Honda 305 Street Scrambler

And this is one that maybe Cromwell or Jimi might try these days - 50cc (belonged to my niece)

I remember those well, the fold a cycle:giggle:

Get your hay put away?
Yeah, but what a headache... at least for our hay guy. He was planning on being here around 8 AM, but the phone rang about then and apparently one of his trailer wheels caught fire. Luckily he had an extinguisher or he might have lost the trailer and all my hay. He called a mutual friend who drove his semi and flatbed out to where the hay guy was on the side of the highway and they transferred the load to his trailer, then called some service company to come out and fix the trailer while they came out here in the semi. Got it all put away, wrote the check, and they went back down the road to see if his trailer was fixed yet. Then I spent the rest of the day with little chores, each one requiring a bit of lifting that made my shoulder pain worse, but what the heck... all in a day's work, right?

Just out of curiosity, are the inspections you do aimed primarily at safety factors (buildings up to code) or repairs necessary in order to secure financing?

For investors, buying buildings to lease to tenants....they want to know immediate and projected repair costs.

Safety is the last thing on their mind...they all Net Lease to folks, which makes the tenant responsible for everything, including taxes. They just want to know what it will cost to make everything work if they bought it today.

Very few Gross Lease anymore, where the property owner is responsible for everything, including the electric water and tax bills. Don't run into many of those folks tho

Ah. I have noted over time how often you seem to count the number of A/C units as something significant. Does this mean A/C is more likely to require maintenance ($) than other factors?
