I only have a small courtyard

How did your tobacco go?

Sheesh, I should do an update

It was growing well, when the pandemic hit and we switched to all out food production with all the uncertainty

Had a hard time keeping it from sprinting and we never harvested any of it, just let it Peter out

Well, this May, almost everything we had growing now has tobacco growing it in, it's all over the garden hahahaha

I'm still planting away also!

But, food production is pretty good right now, I could live off of what my yard produces in a pinch, but I'd lose a lot of weight, lol

I grow a lot of medicinals also. Today, going to start some Valerian and Marshmallow

Am also prepping for my first harvest of Awa (aka Kava Kava)

I've had Kava Kava in capsules from the health food store, but it's been a long time. It's quite pleasant, but has some nasty side effects if you overdo it. Pardon, please, if I'm telling you something you already know. At any rate, I'm jealous. :)

If you:

Have an extreme over supply of disposable gloves

Want to spend far more time thoroughly frustrated

Then printmaking may be for you

Hooray

So, I spent the day doing laundry (mine), packing away part of my mom's vast ceramic bird collection into a couple of storage totes, hemming up some new window curtains, and talking to my one remaining uncle. I still ended up finding time to cry. No matter how much I tried to keep busy to keep my mind occupied, I still mourn the loss of my mother, and probably will for quite some time.

Today, hubs and I took down the old wooden back door, and put up a new metal door. The doggy door was put in, along with a new handle and deadbolt.

Unfortunately, a bunch of skeeters got in while doing that. Hubby is one of those people that gets huge welts from skeeter bites.

Out today taking every opportunity to do so here as Melbourne our capital has just got a Lockdown extension. So far us in the bush, country regions have no covid and can go out where we want to.
I went out for a walk in a place about 1/2 hr drive from home to get away and give the misses a break from me after our lockdowns here that I drove her mad in.
Spring is not far off now and some bush flowers are starting to come out. Mostly now is wattle, yellow, and this other white one similar you see in these pics. The white one I dont know its name but the green needle type bits you see have sharp ends. They kind of spike you if you brush against them but its just a little prick from them that doesn't last. But im amazed how our wallabies, like kangaroos but smaller and very docile, like to eat those. What on earth nutrients or anything they get from them is a mystery to me but I often see them eating them. How they dont get their tongues spiked I dont know. Farmers crops of canola are doing great too from out wetter than usual winter. Im expecting a fantastic bush flower show when winter is over and Spring really arrives.

Morning!

Hubby left yesterday, Jessie is pouting. Only 10 days this time, his RA didn't like the 2 week trip. We'll see about this one. Since Dad wasn't here this morning, she tried to get me up at 4:30! Nope, not happening. She finally went back outside.

Have to go pick up a prescription this morning, chiropractor this afternoon. That's a busy day for me, lol.

Stay safe and healthy

I have a granddaughter who turns 16 today. She recently went to Arizona to live with her dad for a while, and I miss her so bad. I sent a birthday message to her on FB this morning, but I sure would love to be able to drive to Raleigh and take her out to eat somewhere.

My oldest daughter's family is all over the place now. She took a job in Savannah (they made her an offer she couldn't refuse), so she has her three youngest children with her, then there's the daughter in Arizona, and her oldest son is in the Army in Texas.

So strange not having everyone close by. It's taking some getting used to.

He went Fishing? Good luck to him if he did.
I went to another town to buy a new phone, this right now got im sure a bug from a site I got a music track from. Since I did its got worse and worse. Charged it to full a couple of hours ago after turning it on and off and from just idle its down to 65%. That used to be from a full days use. But I got a good deal and am just waiting on a screen cover and gel housing for it I ordered till I put my sim card in it and fire it up. Looking forward to it as it has a much better operating system and camera compared to this one thats dying as I type :giggle: :tantrum:
But whilst in that town my misses said "hey, whilst you are there here is some money, early birthday present as we wont be going anywhere for a while" Im "really?" So whilst there I got a really cool telescopic enviro net so you can net fish you get without even bending over, a great rod that was $100 for just $49 on sale, some hooks, line and next door was a pet store where I got 4 new Danio fish for our fish tank. Have had it for a while and a few passed on but here is nothing other than everyday goldfish in a pet food shop.
So even if I dont catch fish I can at least watch them :giggle:
Hope he catches some goodies and has a great time. 👍

Went this morning, to get a shot I needed to have Monday.

Went to the doctor Tuesday. His nurse there could not give me the shot. Even the doctor who prescribed it could not give me the shot. He cited insurance as the deterrent. His nurse said it was just "new" policy. I figure though insurance stopped her as well.

So today I go to the local health department after going Tuesday and Wednesday. Both days they didn't have a nurse on hand. Today, the nurse couldn't get enough medicine from the container for the correct dose. So, I will need to miss this dose and wait until the auto-refill allows for a new prescription to fill.

That will likely be in about two weeks. Which is when my next dose will be due. I take testosterone which is a controlled substance. I have valid medical need for it so legally have it prescribed. The doctor on Tuesday harped on me that I shouldn't be sharing it. I am not sharing it to the best of my knowledge. However, there's been an apparent discrepancy.

This goes back to getting a shot at the local hospital's Wal-Mart outreach clinic. That nurse gave me a double dose, or so was thought. We now think she skimmed the second dose and either used, or sold it. We contacted my GP doctor who works for the hospital's main clinic. He never responded.

So I get harped at by my specialist doctor in Parkersburg for illegally sharing my medicine. Told my wife, "gee, I just bet the D.E.A is watching close". She agreed and said it wouldn't be a surprise but also confirmed I've done nothing wrong.

I asked her this morning if I had permission to "go postal" yet.

The question I ask my doctor regarding my "treatment" with this is one they all just look at me with a dumbfounded blank face.

"If this is to improve my quality of life, how is making me feel criminal an improvement?"

They can not, or will not answer.

I found a buyer for all 9 trash bags full of my mom's clothes. I loaded it all up in my van when the rain had settled down, and took it out to the city. I got paid quite a bit extra for delivery. I did a little shopping at Sam's Club while there before filling up with gas and heading home.

On the way back, I stopped at the cemetary, and straightened up things where my mom and step-dad are buried. Nobody had been there since the funeral. After getting home and eating pizza, I called my uncle and talked to him to lift my spirits.

Dejavu. Stayed up getting my fishing gear ready for a go today to try my new rod and net out. All sitting next to the kitchen table ready to go.
Just like a few weeks ago the same thing. Misses wakes me up and says "your not going fishing again!" Im  "a joke right?"
Her "Nope the Premier was on tv and said "everyone in Victoria stay home and go nowhere". I asked her what else he said and she reckons he said to stay put and will give details later. Yep, couple of hrs later instant snap lockdown again for us in the bush because in a town hours drive away they have a dozen cases. So the entire state is back in full lockdown. Melbourne even has a curfew from 9pm to 5am.
Not allowed to travel further than 5 km, 2 hrs a day exercise limit and just allowed to shop for essentials or see a Dr.
Gear all put away again and back into home detention.
This is ours, in the country, our 7th lockdown I think, im losing track now to be honest.
Just checked, yep our 7th lockdown and zero cases since covid first hit our shores. In the first wave here in our region we had according to the official numbers only 2 back in early 2020. Zero since and have had 6 lockdowns after that.

At least it will limit city slickers flocking to your region

The rumours were worse than actual announcement for us. The herald sun was running with no take away coffee or food and limited to 1 hour. So I was relieved when I heard it

Hi mate. The Herald Sun as well as the nightly news shows on 7 and 9 are utter idiots. Im convinced there is no requirement for any intelligence above a 5 year old to be a reporter or news presenter. Just the other day. Think it was on 7. They did a story on some dingo's. The woman presenter, cant recall her name but been around for a while, into'd the story saying that where they were had a recent litter of young "Dingo Cubs" The writing showed Dingo Cubs, at the end she said "aren't those Cubs adorable". Cubs!? Dingo Cubs!
Im waiting to see them do stories on shoals of cattle or with young chicks next.
Bummer the Dogs dropped 3 games in a row! I was sure they'd get over the line last night. Last hope for the 4 is if West Coast beats Bris. I picked Bris in my tipping but am now hoping they lose. Here is hoping 👍

IMO... I'd rather be Free and have people flocking the region or a country girl invading the city slickers :teehee:
We're not made or meant to be Lockdown kept inside away from loved ones be it family or friends.
Speaking of friends; where has @CaFF been? Hope I've just missed him on here (VU) and he's doing alright.

Hi. They are getting pretty tired of them in the major cities. There was a big protest in Melbourne today that got ugly. Huge amounts of pepper spray used. They, police, were even firing pepper pellets from paintball guns at the crowd. Of course the idiot news chanel and papers reported it as "Police fire Rubber bullets at protesters".
No rioting or destroying others property just a public demonstration and whoopee they let off a couple of flares. They are going against the lockdown rules that say they can't do it but our cops come in too heavy handed and then it escalates from there. If they just let them carry on with their shouting and holding up their placards, voice their feelings then eventually they'd feel they accomplished what they came for and eventually go. They, the cops can say all they like "don't protest we won't tolerate it" but they protest anyway. There is no need for the violence. They have a choice. Let them come, have their say and it's over. Or go in like storm troopers with batons, pepper spray and paintball guns firing pepper gel balls at people with bare faces. Of course people started throwing things at them in response and punching on. The zero tolerance approach clearly doesn't work because they keep protesting. If they aren't destroying property then let em let their steam off I say and stop the unnecessary violence.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
And yeah CaFF's away for a while now hasn't he!

The first pic is my check in. We scan a QR code on entry to premises

Second pic is when positive case attended a couple of hours later. And note that if you were there, you need to get tested and quarantine until you have negative results.

Unless you have had the Vac that they tell us keeps you who got it safe and those around you. According to the continued speaches they give us "it keeps everyone safe!"
So, going by their own words if your vacced you shouldn't need to isolate.

Talk about adding to the already growing avalanche of public anxiety and mental health issues.
Heard Gladys say "now if you have to leave your house, think to yourself you have covid and everyone you walk past has covid! Dont stop to chat and say hi to people you know if you see them shopping or in the supermarket. Get your things and go straight home! And if you see anyone doing the wrong thing report them!"

Oh, and if only Smithy had nailed that last kick he had huh!

Morning! Not a thing new here, same old. Just me and Jessie so there's no messes, pretty quiet.
She gave up trying to wake me up at 4am, just jumps on the bed and goes to sleep, lol. Anyway, just checking in.

Stay safe and healthy

I get the distinct impression that having your Jessie around is pretty much like having a kid! I think your husband may have spoiled her rotten.

Do I read you right? :teehee:

Another busy day here.

Our bitch got hubby's sketches again, and destroyed his shades. This was at least the 8th time she chewed up his shoes. Nothing we ever did could stop her from getting to them other than locking them in another room. She also chewed on furniture, and we just got new recliners. Today, we dropped her off at a no-kill shelter.

It was also time for a new mattress, so we got one just after we dropped off the bitch. Add to that, mowing the lawn, installing a new light fixture in the art studio that used to be the game room, and putting in new trim in the living room. I'll wait til tomorrow to paint the trim.

All I have to say is that you are one hard-working woman. I couldn't keep up with you for ten minutes.

So when are you going on vacation? I feel so silly now, I told my boss yesterday that I've gotten so overwhelmed with work I need a couple days off for my head to reset. In my case it's mental pressure, and I've felt like I've been squeezed around the neck for about three weeks now. Everything I've touched in the last ten days or so has turned to shit. I guess there are different kinds of fatigue, but great heavens, you sure get some physical work done.

Take a day off once in a while, if you can get yourself to sit still for a bit! <3

Just staying as busy as I can to keep my mind off the loss of my mother. We were very close. I just can't sit still and do nothing. It would drive me nuts.

Morning!

I don't normally answer calls from numbers that I don't know, but I did yesterday. It was Hubby, using a Park Ranger's phone..... Some how, Hubby ended up in the lake! And of course he didn't have his phone in it's holder. It's resting at peace at the bottom of the lake. He did say that the lady Ranger retrieved his fishing poles for him, thank you! Hubby knows them all and the camp host, he likes to help them when he can. Anyway, very short call so I'll get more details when he gets home. I had to order him a new phone, hope it gets here soon. I wish I had a picture of him going in lake, lol.

While going through some of my own stuff, I found some old photos from 2005. Surprisingly, one of them is of my favorite cat of all time "Monster", whom was bullied as a kitten, and took malicious vengeance when he grew up. He even made my mother angry when he caught, killed, and ate a cotton tail rabbit in our yard. Nobody but I could get close to him, and he would come running when I called his name.

The breed is American Bobtail. Somewhat larger and heavier than your average housecat, and having marking similar to a tabby, but more speckled, they are believed to be the result of feral cats breeding. Monster's mother was a feral cat. Many people thought he was a bobcat runt after seeing his markings, paws, and tail. However, Monster had no tan or beige colorations.

If I got another cat, it would have to be another American Bobtail, and it would have to be a male. Just not sure if I would name him Lurch, or Pugsley. It would be the end of the male strays running around. Probably the end of half the females too. They are very territorial. Our squirrel problem would go away too. Monster looked so cute walking down the road with a squirrel in his mouth.

Morning!

Hubby got home yesterday, all safe and sound. Jessie heard him pull the camper-van, she was waiting at the door. When he finally came in, I thought she was going to tackle him, lol. He missed her, too, so it took awhile before I finally got my hug.

As for his dunking, he was at the end of the dock. His foot slipped off of boat as he was transferring, only 7 foot of water. The only casualty was his phone. No bumps or bruises, just a refreshing cooling off. I still wish I had a picture!

Stay safe and healthy

I should have time to get a take away espresso on my way up to the train station where I will get a bus home
