Morning!

Well, we're in the low 90's instead of the high! Lol. Hubby is working away making more fish baits. Jessie is napping in her nest. She had a traumatic day yesterday. I thought she was losing her summer coat, getting ready for her winter coat. She is always asking us to scratch her back this last 10 days or so. Never did it before. Apparently that's not the reason. Could be lots of things! So we did the vinegar water rinse, she did not appreciate it at all! Kinda liked the towel rub after, then headed outside to finish drying out. Couple hours go by, here she is, asking for a back scratch. Guess it's vet appointment time.

Smigo, what beautiful orchids!

Stay safe and healthy

Emma and Duke had the same problem with their backs and bellies. It wasn't fleas or anything major. We already take collagen, so I looked up collagen to see if it would be ok for the doggies. Kinda already knew it would be safe and it is. Both Emma and Duke haven't been scratching since taking it.
It's nice to just rub/scratch their bellies without them trying to start their Hogs :bliss:
Hope nothing major is going on with Jessie, that she just has dry skin and there will be a simple solution for her itchiness.

So our Victorian comedy festival is now in full swing. 🤣
Some recent health advice from our head honcho.

Some new freedoms too. People who are vaccinated can have picnics in groups of five. They can remove their masks to eat and drink! 🤗
But not if its alcohol at the picnic. If you drink coke or other things, water, then you can take your mask off at the picnic. But if you want to drink anything alcoholic you must leave your mask on, insert a straw up under your mask and drink your alcoholic beverage that way! 🤪

Anyone feel like moving to Oz right now!? :giggle:
I really do not understand the logic here. Then again, I don't understand anything the "higher up's" do anymore. Sheesh. What's the difference of drinking through a straw? LOL

with in house dining banned and limited to take away, a bunch (a lot) of people took to doing pub crawls, buying 1 take away bottle from various pubs and setting up make shift beer gardens out of bins etc

so, gathering in groups

hence outdoor alcohol ban

Not the same a dog, but I had a staffy that had skin problems that drove him mad and us. We did food eliminations. In the end when we eliminated grains from his diet, the dog biscuits were loaded with them and so was some of his canned food. Put him on grain free diet and it all came good.

Logic, intelligence, common sense are words rarely seen in the same sentence when hearing the higher ups being spoken about unless they follow on from the words "lack of".

I'm thinking of sending them some suggestions.
"People can only eat chicken nuggets whilst wearing a snorkel and dropped down it"
"All outdoors exercise can only be done wearing a battery operated spinning bow tie to blow the germs from others away"

Before you know it, they'll mandate Hazmat suits to be worn whenever going outdoors, even to your mailbox. Imagine how that will feel in the middle of summer. I can. Our weather station said it got to 106°F here today.

Hi. Yeah thats hot to me. When I was a kid, teenage, 20s, 30s, 40s......I loved the heat. Now im 50's "oh man its hot, when's the cool change coming? Turn on the air con!"
To be honest, I respect anyones decision with vaxes, yay and nay as its anyones human right to have something or refuse it, but its not getting crazy here, it now is. Anyone unvaxed is a filthy leper to be avoided, shunned and put on social media as a potential murderer.
I hate how our country has become, I really do.
I have been searching for one of these online to go shopping in but they are just a little out of my price range.
I wonder if Amazon has one? 🤔

I had gotten vaxxed along with hubby to make sure we would bring the virus back to my mother when she was still around. Still glad we did. She didn't die of it.

With the heat we're having now, I take care of outside errands early in the mornings, and late in the evenings. The rest of the day, I stay in the AC, and do what I need to inside. It's just too hot to go out. Even the younger generations stay inside when it gets this hot.

Hubby didn't have to work today, so we went to do our shopping out of town. After last weekend's disappointment, I decided to get me a new over and under 20 Guage shottie. They were out of shells, but I'm sure I can find them easily enough when dove season ends.

Today was a scorcher at 109°, so I spent the majority of the day indoors converting an old armoir into what is going to be our kitchen hutch. Took out the beveled mirror to protect it. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the backing off, and just have beveled glass. I made the shelves and got them in today. The armoir was already severely scratched up when I got it, so I'm going to be painting it.

Reminds me of the old joke:

A cop pulls over a car on the freeway, and asks the driver "do you know why I pulled you over?" The driver responds "yeah, because you could catch me".
They're utterly gutless and only go all tough guys for protests with everyday people in the crowds such as youths, women, men, children, old people. Using battons, pepper spray, pepper ball guns, and punching people.
Like these pictures....

skynews-australia-covid-19_5516343.jpg
images (24).jpeg
253cec45627ddfc82f4c490969ca7227.jpeg

Now lets see them when real men are doing a protest, all builder labourers. Nothing, chickens.
images (22).jpeg
images (19).jpeg
Here they are on our tv right now blocking the roads and not a cop in sight.
Why aren't they forming their famous "Ring of Steel" around them like they do to others?
Gutless.
IMG_20210921_145939_638.jpg
In fact check this out, they're giving them an escort, 3 highway patrol cars in front. Where's the battons, pepper spray, pepper ball guns, riot gear!?

Morning!

Finally cooling down for a few days, low 80's. Feels pretty good! Hubby even put on long sleeves to go out to the workshop this morning, lol.

Jessie is doing a little better. I found some hydrocortisone mist spray that is giving her some relief. Hubby holds her and rubs it into her skin while I spray. She is not a fan, but he distracts her. Poor baby.

Otherwise we're pretty quiet here. Hubby is planning his next fishing trip, I'm planning stuff to get done while he's gone. Waxing floors and shampooing carpets is hard when he's on & out all day!

Stay safe and healthy

Our plates are just ancient and set. Happy where they are and don't generally move around like elsewhere

We actually had a very small earthquake here where I live in Virginia, I think it was in about 2010. I was working at home that day, sitting here on my laptop, minding my own business, when the house and all the pictures on the walls started to shake. The first thing that crossed my mind was that a bear must have gotten under the house!

J looked out the front door and didn't see anything abnormal, but inside the framed stuff on the walls was still rattling around. By then I had figured out what it probably was, and I called my husband, said "I think we're having an earthquake!" He said, "Naw, there aren't earthquakes down there!" Like hell there aren't!

Later on the news they talked about it, epicenter was in Mineral, Virginia, which is a wide spot in the road about 2 hours north of us. In and around Mineral, they had some serious damage to buildings like their high school. I believe they ended up having to demolish and rebuild that school.

Where we are in Oz we had a tremor. No earth opened up. Some things shook but nothing life frightening like actual earth quakes do. A wall of an old building crumbled in Melbourne but I heard it was dodgy before the tremor. But no earth opening earth quakes. Just tremors.
No biggy unless a snow flake.
Had em in central Vic for yrs. Actually every year.
Night now, ill take a pic of our house wall that cracked from one 2 yrs ago. Happens often here.
Earths old, moves. Nature.
Ain't gonna last for ever.
In its last days.
Everything has its end.

Here from OZ.
Protests are in full force. Many in the world have said we have caved in. We have not.
Thousands are protesting.
The media are saying that they are professional protesters.
Really!? Thousands of professional protesters! Being payed to buy hard hats, hi vis shirts, work overalls and pants!? And then payed a wage to protest! Thousands!?
Who, what billionaire is bankrolling this!? Are we to believe that thousands are given this money, must be millions of dollars, that the Govt and Police, who have access to our phones and internet like no other country have, dont know who is paying these as the media and police say "professional protesters".?
They have said this for years, "professional protestors"
What utter crap and lies. Who is this billionaire who pays them?
We in OZ are screwed. You all see us?
This is the World's template.
Its coming your way.

It's interesting they don't show that on the news over here. They probably think us Americans will get bright ideas. The last time a bunch of white folks threw a protest was at the US Capital building, and we all saw how that turned out... not very peaceful at all. and then they tried to blame other radical groups.

When it comes to proresting about causes, they can be peaceful. But, as for government actions, forget about it.

Our back wall from when we had a tremor a few yrs ago. They reckon its ok. The crack through the bricks run from the ground all the way to roof level.
IMG_20210923_120113_015~2.jpg

Took the misses shopping in another town today. They just came out of lockdown and there were people everywhere. She got a heap of garden stuff, plants, pots soil. I got fishing gear.
Nice drive there. For about a 50 kilometer stretch you pass dozens of small extinct volcanos. It must have been a spectacular sight when they were all once lit up.
All those hills in the picture are some of them.

Morning!

Cooler this morning, feels good, doors open. I have the laundry going, always feels good to have that chore done. Later it will be winding coils and stuffing them with rayon.

Jessie is doing fine, almost back to normal. I know what my itchy back feels like, can't imagine what hers felt like! Now she just wants all the attention, lol. She's out protecting Hubby in his workshop. There might be a stray moth waiting to attack him, you know.

Stay safe and healthy

Was a stunningly good day.

Here at home today. Piddled around and literally did nothing today. I napped some.

Did not get called out for work. Didn't really care. Worked an average of 40 hrs per week the last two weeks.

Relatively healthy physically. Reckon the rest doesn't matter. So yay.

Hellooooooo? Where did you all go? It's so quiet, everywhere. Come out, come out, wherever you are!
We are doing fine here. Weather is cooler for a few days, then in the 80's. Nice for the start of fall.
Jessie is spending lots of time rolling around on the cement. She did NOT like the rain storm we had for a while yesterday! Cuddling with Hubby helped her mood.

Stay safe and healthy

Hey everyone - especially @misswish

Still hunkered down riding out the latest surge

Went and checked out the volcano yesterday morning then came home and made carnitas tacos from scratch, including the tortillas and a little Pico De Gallo - scrumptious

Morning!

Well, the start of a new week. Hubby has a medical test tomorrow, need to do some laundry, maybe wick some coils. The sun is bright, makes me smile.

Jessie is feeling much better. She still likes her back scratches, just not demanding them. Whatever it was, it's gone! She's back to loves and cuddles.

Stay safe and healthy

Today was kind of busy, but not with the house like it's been. I found a small p/u truck online that looked like what I was looking for, with the same fuel economy as my minivan. I made the hubby take me there (since I can't drive 2 vehicles at the same time) so I could look it over and make a decision. I bought the thing. After getting it home and getting it registered, the POS radio in it had to go. Tires are very good. The bumpers are dented, but I can change those out after I sell the minivan.

you want to know irony? my sister is both a nurse, and afraid of needles

finally convinced her to go to the ER, which she has been avoiding under assumption they will give her a UV drip

IVs can be traumatic for those of us who have a tough time with needles. Feels like someone is shoving a pencil up under your skin. My first one, and then the attempts at my first arterial IV, very nearly brought me to tears, and I've passed out a time or two just getting shots. They finally decided to wait until I was under general anaesthetic before trying the arterial IV again.

hope she updates soon

unusual chest pain from jaw to abdomen and profuse sweating, heart rate 142 bpm

she confirmed that she was going to hospital, but hasn't updated since. Which is at least better than the prescribing herself vodka that she had planned

it is probably panic, her docs are weaning her off diazapam. But needs checking

I would be very concerned, as it sounds like you are, if that were my sister.

Pity they couldn't give her chlordiazepoxide for a couple of weeks, then wean her off that. Much easier on the body.

I agree, though, that pulse rate needs attention. Wouldn't surprise me if they put her on a beta blocker for a while.

Detoxing can be hell. I hope she'll be alright and go to the hospital like she said.

It's still quiet here, in the low 80's so it's comfortable, too. Hubby is having some tests done, I hate having to wait for results! Jessie is still a mix of sweet and salty. She is back to waking Hubby up at 3:30 - 4am. Sure glad it's him and not me! I'd have to think about locking her out on the deck.....

We've been getting ready for our huge yard sale, to be held tomorrow. We're selling most of my mom's stuff, and some of ours. This is taking up most of our spacious front yard, including under our triple carport. I finally had to stop for the evening, as the mosquitoes are attacking as bad as buzzards getting ready for migration. I even had to use a sheet of plywood across the bed of my truck to use as a table, since we don't have enough tables.

Ok, folks, it might be time to ring some alarm bells again. Everyone else may already know this, but we haven't been going into stores much, and hubbs did the grocery shopping himself this morning in our local Walmart, where he says there is hardly ANYTHING on the whole grocery side of the store.

Have you seen on the news all the ships that are waiting to unload off the coast near the port of Los Angeles? Well that's part of the reason this is happening. I work for a retail chain, and we can't keep people working in our warehouses to unload containers and trailers once we get them, so the containers are stacking up everywhere, and our stores are on the way to slim pickings, too. I think between the two warehouses there are about a thousand containers/trailers waiting to be unloaded and it is costing us a fortune in late fees.

If your pantry isn't stocked up, maybe you ought to think about doing that, if you can. It looks to me like this is getting serious. If it's affecting Walmart, then it's affecting every kind of store, because Walmart is at the top of the food chain.
