Internet fucking up. Gotta say, charter internet is the worst money can buy!

We used to love charter, when we lived in N. Lawrenceville. Now we're in SW Lawrenceville... 900ft too far to get charter, so we're stuck with Comcast.

There I was, doing what I havent done in a long time. Running my warlock around in freebie Warcraft and farming some cloth to make bags for my other low level characters and the internet said "nope, you must die now as we disconnect you".......fuckers!

For the first time in 55 yrs of life,l I am ashamed to be an American. I'm ashamed that we have permitted the gov't to sell us out completely, to become so corrupt and riddled with greed and evil, that the lives of millions mean absolutely nothing. I'm ashamed that we've allowed our gov't to be filled with greedy, evil, self-serving scoundrels, who care for NOTHING but money, power, and privilege; that we have elected to office so many sociopathic liars and rogues and fools.

We still have a 2nd amendment, though they're busy trying to take it away from us. Are we going to let them, as we've let them ride roughshod over every aspect of the liberty that America used to stand for?

Or as we going to do something about it???

Well, back from the vacay and in catch-up mode.. :gaah:
Got three good nights for observing in at the end of the week after being rained on Tuesday and clouded-over on Wednesday. Monday was clear but we were tired from the drive and setup, and it was damp-cold so we turned in early. We all had a great time. :)
My 12.5" is worse for the wear: took a tumble in some gusty winds and landed right on the tube-end where the secondary mirror support spider mounts and blew the crap out of it. Managed to effect repairs to be usable, but it's the last straw with that behemoth and I'm going to turn it into a truss-tube Dob and get rid of that solid tube.

You should have seen the crew setting up the 41" (yes, 41 inch primary mirror!) scope. Six people wrestling the mirror box around on trailer jacks. But you're right: the less convenient to haul out and set up equals less usage. Part of why I want to convert that 12.5" into a truss scope. ;) I can be at a site with reasonably dark skies outside Seattle in under an hour. But my place is a total washout of the skies, and I have trees as well. Trying to observe through a small window of sky diminishes the appeal.

We did! Thanks! And so did 200+ other people at our event.

Our location is just about three miles NW from SeaTac Airport. The light pollution is terrible and has gotten worse over the past decade. :( We did see some of the precursors to the Perseids on our trip, so I got my meteor shower fix for the year. ;)

I put a couple of pics from the event on our organization's website at tmspa.com Beautiful location in north-central WA and dark skies.

VERY cool! A week long star party!! I wish I had more knowledge of Astronomy to be able to star hop with a manual scope. But I don't, and the automatic setup, slewing, and "Best of tonite's sky" features on the computerized Meades, I couldn't live without. I LOVE looking through those monster Dobs though at star parties. My oldest son is interested enough to have manual charts when he views and he does his best to find stuff on his own. It's so wonderful to help our kids find the things they can be passionate about.

I'm voting for Trump, for those very reasons, no way he could fuck things up more than they already are. I'm hoping the best anyway. Hitery gets in it's 4 more years of the same shit (or worse if that's even possible), with another compulsive disgusting liar.

Awesome signature, Andria. If more people were aware of the ideologies of our founding fathers, they would be shocked at the many warnings, and how they have come to be true. Buy the people with their own money, indeed. There is Law, and there is what is right. The first to me is just a math. If a law is unjust enough to warrant the possibility of the price of punishment for disregarding it, it is then not MY law. I'll do what is right.

And I am not going to check the news to see what you are talking about. It is the news that sent me packing on this month long adventure to get away from the BULLSHIT that was in the news. I'm not ready to rejoin reality just yet.

That's exactly why I was prone to taking my son out at 4am, when he was middle school, to see meteor showers -- to try and wake up his natural intelligent curiosity about the universe and everything in it. There's a whole lot of universe out there.

Problem is we did it to ourselves. For a long time we the people had jobs, was making money, getting ahead and we didnt pay attention to what was going on. Now we are faced with dealing with that. They are doing everything possible to embrace socialism and face it, communism is extreme socialism so guess what the end game really is. It is coming from both parties and we are screwed.
How we vote has no meaning anymore. The last election should of told ya that. Voting machines changing peoples vote to Obama right in front of their eyes yet did anyone contact anyone at all about it and bitch? It came to light that the voting machines was bought from a spanish company that the top Democratic contributer has a major stake in, yet nothing about it was done. The media is no help, it is owned by those in power.
Look what they did to Sanders, not a thing about it was legal yet it being made known changed nothing. The Sanders supporters walked out during Hillarys acceptance speech, yet the media reported unity in the party. Black Lives marched on the DNC convention chanting Hillary is a killer, yet the major networks did not report one single word on it. Last week Hillary gave a speech and the media showed a picture up close showing standing room only. Someone else posted another picture farther back showing hardly anyone there yet the media proclaimed she gave a speech to a multitude. I seen today that the media has been accused of photo cropping pictures to show more people at Hillary events than was actually there. Then you have Trump filling stadiums every time and the polls shows he is trailing badly. Why, because they sheeple are being brainwashed into believing what those in power wants them to believe. The fix is already in but they still have to sell it to prevent open revolt.

There's a whole lot of universe out there.
And no reason to think it is any less screwed up than earth.

Why I say fuck the Universe. And not stress out about all the screwed up stuff that I have no control over.
Just do what I can with my minuscule portion of the universe.

I was torn between that one, and these 2:

But I thought the one about unjust laws is currently more pertinent.

That's usually how I operate too -- I learned the Serenity Prayer really well in all those 12 step meetings. :D But I'm currently just reeling in shock, very much as I was after 9/11, just can't believe it. And this isn't even an external enemy, but OUR OWN COUNTRY! I just can't find words sufficient to express my shock and outrage. Vaping is the best thing that's happened to mankind since the smallpox vaccine -- a whole new way of doing something, and doing it so much better, that everything before is just irrelevant, that same kind of public boon -- right up there with the microscope, and microbe theory. And they're acting like it's not there. It just beggars the mind.

Ahh the Founding Fathers were screwed up too.
The true history of the USA is hard to come by.

I've read at great length and depth about several of those "founding fathers," and I'm aware that they were human beings, with all attendant and various foibles. But they were men of education and principle and vision, doing a hard and new and risky thing, and they succeeded beyond all expectations, and deserve respect for that if nothing else. That our modern politicians have so turned their backs on the wonderful gifts of our American freedom and traditions.... it's just inconceivable.

iho this is the biggest single cause of our current situation.
Without it and it's offshoots how would the shock and awe about 911 been?
More thinking less emotion and fear driven?

I have watched maybe 2 hours of actual TV while in waiting areas and such over the past 2 months.
I prefer funny cat and dog vids on you tube.

I was amazed at the stupid level on TV. I suppose it was always like that. Kind of like viewing smoking after one quits I suppose....
Jerry Springer.... You ARE the father!

they call it programming for a reason....

I read my news on the net.

In a sense. I'm at the Iowa farm. Rode in from Sturgis today, the last 3 hours in the rain. It happens.

Customer has a small job for us tomorrow, so we had a crew meet us tonite in Iowa. Quoting another job tomorrow that I hope I can get a PO to do Monday. We're already here. Had reserves for the fast boat across lake Michigan for Monday, but I can reschedule that to feed some crew. Otherwise, I'll be home Monday night. Ah crap, I forgot to transfer some money today, I've got a little mess to clean up tomorrow. Obviously, tomorrow is going to be a rather busy day. Reality had to strike sooner or later..

I see you are getting NO relief from the triple-digit weather. If it is ANY consolation, been damn hot in Wyoming and SD too. My forehead, arms and ears look like leather.

What I like on TV is just "stories," similar to how I like to READ stories -- cop shows, mysteries, or comedy sometimes -- Big Bang Theory is always entertaining, and there's one or two others I've sometimes found amusing. I watch zero "reality TV" of ANY type, unless it's the Weather Channel; their grammar sucks but they know the weather. :D I watch zero news, opinions, talk, or anything else in the talking head category. When Craig Ferguson and then David Letterman went off, I quit all shows of that type, and I've never been one to watch or read news, unless it DIRECTLY pertains to me.

I'd say a good 80% of current TV sucks ass; just another great reason to be glad we have Amazon Prime Video now!

And I vastly preferred MTV when it was MUSIC TELEVISION; there was actual music!

So one of the crazier things on this trip. When I was talking to the Trooper who nailed the guy who hit my parked bike. He told me "You're lucky I got called in early. I usually start at 3pm. There would not have been anyone between here and Cheyenne". A few minutes later, when he cut me loose, he said he would be about 15 more minutes with the hit & run driver. I gave him a big toothy grin.. "Did you just tell me that you are the only squad between here and Cheyenne, and you will be stuck here another 15 minutes?" Hahaha.. he just smiled, and said "Drive safely".

So I'm going 100mph down Hwy 85. Camper coming the other way. All a sudden, a bike decides to pass, by the time he is partways through, I see he is NOT going to make it in time. I moved on to the fog line, and we passed each other in MY lane, at a combined speed of probably 190mph+. I kinda chuckled. DAMN good thing I wasn't a new rider. Any panic in that situation could have ended ugly.

Well anyway, getting back to vaping. I think I do prefer to use the stainless wire in wattage mode; although I do need to use more power, and go thru batteries faster because of that and the lower resistance, it's definitely a better vape than kanthal, and I dunno about the 25w minimum for the ramp-up, in TC; I often taste the cotton wicking, almost a dry hit though without any burning, and i can't like that; in wattage mode, even at 12.5w, it tastes great! No cottony taste. It's probably because I do like such a tight draw and little airflow, it's just not cooling the coil fast enough for that level of power.

Oooh, and Ducati was at the Rally, giving half hour demo rides of their new "cruiser", Diavel S. 500 something pounds, and 160HP. I took TWO concurrent demo slots. It was a GUIDED tour this time though, with a factory rep in front, and one in back. The lead factory rep was a nut though, broke 100 on a 2 lane, AND on I-90 coming BACK from Whitewood to Sturgis. THAT bike is just plain SICK. My arms and shoulders were SORE from giving it hell for a couple hours. I took the Show Special offer of 5 years zero percent interest. Can't wait to get to my dealer to put my name on the dotted line

I have an old 8" LX-200 that has all the auto-goodies on it, but I mainly stick with the bigger scope now. Started my oldest daughter off with a 6" Dob equipped with a Telrad and some finder charts geared to the Telrad and she bagged half of the Messier list in a couple of years of star parties. This was Year #17 at our event for me, plus the years we double-dipped and went to the Oregon Star Party; puts me at around 25 of them total.

Had the pleasure of having a friend for many years that brought up his 25" Dob that he shared with us. We were recalling the night we were looking at Stephan's Quintet in Pegasus through it, trying to identify all five members. Four were easy, but the fifth was eluding us. We had The Night Sky Observers Guide books out, looking at the charts and pictures in them trying to figure it out for an hour until I realized that what we thought was a star was the fifth galaxy in the group. We laughed for 5 minutes over that.. Then we started searching for the globular clusters in Andromeda (M31), just to make us more crazy! Then it was off to some obscure galaxy group in Ursa Major looking for 14th and 15th magnitude galaxies, followed up with drinking whiskey until the wee hours.. good times! :) (I've found G1 in M31 once in my 12.5" and that took about two hours of star-hopping with charts!)

The wife has binoculars and searches for dark nebulae and other bino highlights; the oldest has her new 10" Dob to use now, and the other two hang out and watch for meteors, space junk and satellites, and the ISS passes and Iridium flares. We all enjoy it as a time to go camping together, get unplugged from daily life and spend some time relaxing under the stars. Even though I'm working help run the event, we enjoy the hell out of it. :)

Significantly longer ramp up time compared to 28, and its needing a higher temp than I really enjoy. Really makes the taste of fresh wicking stand out :(

Think I'll stick with the 28 awg, as I have no complaints with it

@AndriaD ,

I know it moral and ethical to abstain from evil. I have no moral, or ethical obligation in voting for a lesser of two evils. A vote in such case is a vote for evil. I prefer being moral and ethical, these are virtues I value. So, I choose to abstain from voting.

Further, I choose to not oblige authority. All human beings are unworthy of being authority over any other human being, only worthy to be authority over their individual selves. In short, I refuse consenting to playing anyone else's "game" but my own, and even then it is no game.

If enough no longer consent to oppression and think they are free, then all of us will be free. In this case the expression, "think it and so it is", is the Truth. Think yourself free and you are free, think yourself bound and you are bound.

Do not though think yourself separate from others. There is no others. We are all one and one all. Once we each manifest freedom it is our duty to help one another. That duty is merely Natural Law, Divine Law for Love is the force of thought and creation.
