Mornin' Dale...

Contemplating what I'm doing tomorrow before the Super Bowl starts since I have the day off. :stars2:

Glad to hear you've a day off. Those working hard do deserve a break at times. :)

I am probably odd and that's alright for me. I don't get too concerned or excited over the Super Bowl, World Series or any real aspects of commercial sports, even college sports. I do enjoy watching the WWE/WWF faked wrestling "sports entertainment" though. It gets to be hilarious at times with their hyperbole. Yes, a great deal is indeed faked, yet there are times when "poop happens" or times when a "bump" simply goes awry and is not faked, even despite efforts to do so.

Recently, there was an alleged rivalry going on and one of the guys wound up wearing a nose guard face mask. His opponent had quite literally broken his nose with actual full on fisticuffs punches. The opponent had got too wound up and just let go on the guy. What started the whole brew ha was the opponent had locked his partner out of the male locker room area, allegedly fully naked. It was merely joking around.

Well, the partner had to attempt going around the back stage area and back into the locker room another way. As luck held, he met up with the guy's wife in the hall. He attempted making light of the situation with levity. Needless to say, it got rather heatedly blown out of proportion quickly. The whole arc of it was in some ways a bit sad, a bit funny to watch. Sad thinking someone had to generate and create that as scripted interaction for entertainment value, funny also for the same reasoning. "Look what people eat up." All in it was kind of like a bad train wreck, just could not look away.

Oh well, such is life. :)

I love Pro football so the Super Bowl is a big thing for me. And I grew up with a dad that played Triple A baseball so I have a love of baseball too. I played baseball, then rec league softball for many years. For the last few years, what with working a public job, I haven't had the opportunity to catch many World Series games. I'm not into college sports or pro basketball at all. :)

Morning yall and GFY :D

Here it is only the beginning of February and the tree's are starting to show blossoms and pollen. Woke up gagging from sinuses running dabnabit.

There is a reason why I really really really really cant stand microsucks and love linux. After the flood I bought a small cheap laptop that I gave to my mom because she wanted to try to learn how to use the internet. I put a thumb drive into this laptop and wanted to look at a word document and add to it. So Microsucks told me I had a free trail period of Microsucks office and with a few basic clicks it let me use it. Just checked my email and the free trial has been charged to my credit card as an automatic yearly fee the fuckers. With Linux I have LibreOffice which does everything microsucks does and it is free and part of the standard installation of the flavor of Linux I use.

I am thinking seriously of turning this lil laptop into a linux machine. Just format the hard drive and do a clean install. My mom would never even notice. After 7 or 8 years of constantly showing her how she still cant remember how to view her missed calls on her cell phone and the only reason why she is able to use the IPad I gave her is because she does her church stuff on it so the constant repetition help her there.

Ok, rant over. I will put my soap box away now...........................

Google docs can open, or at least import, Office docs. I ran into this with my newish 8.1 laptop; none of my Excel docs could be used because I couldn't install my old (pirated!) copy of Office -- but Google sheets lets me import my old XLS sheets.

Or, there's Open Office... which might have a new name by now... it also opens Office docs; it'll even let you compile PDFs.

Well, I do apologize. I wrote it in the spirit of humor and not as
malicious. Did a fair bit of thinking last night afterwards. Concluded
that that thinking on my part led to where we have come.

I thought I had arrived among friends. Friends often kid around, as
we seem to do here by way of saying other things. Friends hold to
understanding one another.

In the past few months though it has been made clear to me that
obviously my thinking was in error. Either the error lies in thinking
I'm among friends, or it is in the way I think and have a sense of
humor. At any given I accept the responsibility of this, of the
miscommunication, misunderstanding.

As such, I again humbly apologize. It shan't occur again. I will ensure
that.

Apology accepted

I don't either, since I've never really understood "foot-ellipsoid"... However, the Falcons are playing in the Super Bowl this year, so my entire town, hell maybe the whole STATE, is delirious that the Falcons finally learned to play foot-ellipsoid, so... rah rah ree, kick'em in the knee... rah rah rass...

My husband just wants Brady to get some comeuppance for SOMETHING... being an asshole, maybe; my husband HATES Brady.

Not bad - there is a Chinook passing through - slipping and sliding day if you are dumb enough to want to go outside. Which I am not, lol

It got pretty cold here last night; it was nearly noon when I got up, and still under 40 degrees, so my cat is not happy with me -- I won't let her out till it's at least 40 degrees. :D It;s 43 now, but weather channel says "feels like" 38... so I might wait a bit longer. Sorry, Tuxie. :giggle:

I thought that sounded familiar; last time I used it, I think I saw that name, somewhere. But I like using google docs, so that anything I do on my PC is also accessible via my phone -- that was VERY helpful, when we were sitting in the dealership dickering with them about what sort of payment we could afford -- we stuck to our guns, since I had the facts right in front of me, and whaddya know, they actually came up with a payment we could afford. :) We made out like BANDITS on that deal. :)

Im pulling for Brady, It just pisses me off to no ends the hate heaped on him just because it was learned he was friends with Trump.

A lot of what is going on just irks me to the point I dont even want to turn the news on and yet at other times I get extreme giggles from the stupidity. Was watching earlier today a march going on and they had this big banner proclaiming Trump as a fascist.

fas·cism
ˈfaSHˌizəm/

(in general use) extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice.

umm isnt telling entertainers that if they perform at an event that supports someone they dont like their career will end actually fascism?

And isnt having violent riots just because someone going to have a speech on views you dont share or agree with fascism?

Isnt rioting before you even know who is going to be nominated for a position fascism?

Like I said, the stupidity is so comical it gives me giggles at times. :teehee: Dont get me wrong, it is very sad that those who preached tolerance for so many years refuse to tolerate anything they dont agree with, but it is funny that those who are clearly fascist are accusing another of fascism :giggle:

This is the 2nd truck we've bought there; about a year and a half ago, we went in there looking to trade the 1st one we bought from them, but they couldn't/wouldn't make a deal that we could handle -- so we walked, and just refinanced our truck -- that came in handy this time, because they KNEW we'd walk right out the door if they didn't make us a deal we could live with. :)

LibreOffice is built on open office source code.

Prior to being "Libre" Office the suite was known as Open Office. There's a French company 'behind' it if I recall correctly, not that such matters. Corel, yes I think it was them. They had tried making portions of the code proprietary at one point, then kind of 'gave in' and let go of the 'hold' on it. Think Open Office is still supported as Open Office by them, yet they encourage users to move toward Libre Office as it is fully Open Source and has a wide community base of users. Might be that Open Office is kind of their 'private' suite. I'm only speculating though, difficult reading press and such.

A program called catdoc can convert or strip out Microsoft Word macros and leave the text / content open for any *nix word processing application or text editor. There's also unrtf which does similar for rtf files. Most distributions of GNU Linux ship with these in their repositories. They are CLI (Command Line Interface) programs. You can run them from a GUI (Graphical User Interface) in a terminal though, or swap out to a virtual terminal with like F2 (Function Key number 2) then back to the GUI with like F7. Of course that's on my Debian box here with six to eight virtual terms.

I might be logged in somewhere as Chuck Norris today, or Mr. Rogers. Cannot recall. Hope everyone knows Mr. Rogers was in fact a navy S.E.A.L before there were navy seals, he was the prototype uber man for them. Then to atone he served as a preacher with an award winning children's show, teaching the young "indigo" kids like me to become polymaths and autodidacts. We need more STEMS! Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, Social Sciences/ Services.

I need to refresh the ROM in my brain. Ha! Guess that requires I find the damn thing. :)

anti-Semitism
n 1: the intense dislike for and prejudice against Jewish people
[syn: anti-Semitism, antisemitism]

I disagree the current held definition of anti-semitism, doing so based upon a historically researched basis. There were no technically named Jew at the time of first use of the word semite, semetics. Semite refers to people of Northern Africa, Nomadic Bedouins and in general folks using languages derived from Canaanites, Assyrian, Accadian, Chaldean. There was, operative word here WAS, a village called Judea in this area, yet those from there were not called Jews, Jewish, or even Hebrew as most there were not any of these.

The people from Judea left their village as it imploded upon itself and was swallowed up by the desert again to go become Phoenicians, nomads of the seas what later helped in forming Crete, Greece. Those who presently call themselves Jews are not actual 'jews' if ever there were any Sephardic jews who bothered calling themselves jew. The Saphardic jews were shepherds who were nomadic and now reside as best able in Gaza, in Palestine. The Jews of now are Khazarian and Askenazi 'jews', Johny Come Latelies that come from the Caucus mountain ranges of Turkey. These folks are nasty s.o.bs to the core, they follow the Babylonian Talmud, not the actual doctrine of Judaism from the Hebrews or Aramaic Palestinians that were the people that were the 'cloth' of the alleged historical Jesus/Isus the Christ was born from.

Yes, I strongly dislike these nasty s.o.bs, these Khazarian "jews", i spit upon the Earth they walk upon to curse them. They are evil. Although there are these "jews" which have no idea of this history and manner of their Judaism, yet at the 'core' of this group, evil mot pure lurks.

Does that make me anti-semitic? No, not at all. I have nothing against Northern Africans, Suadis that are nomadic shepherds, even some to this very day. I've nothing against Palestinians either. Does it make me paranoid? Well, no but it does lend to heightened awareness of "oh, this must be going on behind the curtain", "that's why my rum is always gone." I genuinely cannot bring myself to ... loathe, hate anyone. I am them and they are me as we're all one family. I can though strongly disagree with their actions and indeed call evil, evil.

Fascism? Well, I think there does not exist any on Earth whom merit or warrant being known as authority. How can they when they are just as human as I am, and I can see how much trouble I cause out of ignorance, honest misunderstanding. Much less, humans can always be corrupted, subverted, distracted, deceived. How then can I trust any other human on Earth as authority? How can any of us?

That is not to say, I can be unethical, immoral and otherwise an evil scoundrel. I cannot be as that to me does NOT live to what I oblige as my highest right / correctness. Why do I desire living to my highest right, for reward? No. I do so simply for the sake of doing so. There are, to me, no rewards or punishments beyond what each fashion ourselves. If i do 'good', I feel 'good'. I like feeling good as I'm sure many do. Might seem simplistic but it suits for me. I've nothing ill held for those who need other ways of seeing things, but please don't try converting me to your view. I'll only stare blankly at you and then go back to what I'm doing. "My drummer, eh, he a dances to a whole nother way a dancing and rhythm you no a see? I hope a you do, because I a see you a drummer he be going another way too."

anti Semetic attitudes are rampant in the USA right now.

Semetic people are Arabic and the like from the middle east.
Including the Jewish people.

I never was sure about Sammy Davis Jr. though....

Fried green tomatoes is hillbilly food. I grew up on them and still love them when the green tomatoes are good and tart. Fried jalapenos and pickles, no thanks :)

I somewhat understand it when our government lies about so much. It makes up lies even about ourselves, itself, easy enough to lie about people from the Middle East. Yes, especially with a resource of value there. "Bomb them all, take the oil." Oops, I ought not type some things aloud.

I like Fried Banana Peppers. As hot as I like to go though.

I like those pepperoncinis that some pizza places include with the pizza. They're a bit tingly, but not really hot -- I also don't care for too much heat. though strangely, I do like a bit of cayenne in bean soup, but not a real lot.

I don't find jalopenos too hot, I just don't care for their flavor. They're not bad on loaded nachos, which also have guacamole, but otherwise... nah.

anti-Semitism
n 1: the intense dislike for and prejudice against Jewish people
[syn: anti-Semitism, antisemitism]

A lot of what we are seeing now are fascist. They want the Democrats to be in power and are throwing a major hissy fit because they lost the election and our rich liberal entertainers are not helping any. I am sure most everyone seen Ashley Judge "nasty" rant. I have to say that is about the most nastiest thing I ever heard and I use to be a big fan of hers but after watching that, she can rot in hell for all I care. I just watched the guy who would of been Hillary's VP telling people they need to take the fight to the streets. Really, elected officials are now advocating openly for violence. WTF!

What we see is pure fascism. It will be their way and only their way or else as far as they ar concerned.

Just look at the womans march that Ashley and Madona spoke at. All groups of women that was pro life was made to leave. They was not invited nor allowed to march with the other women. What does that tell yall.

Fried green tomatoes is hillbilly food. I grew up on them and still love them when the green tomatoes are good and tart. Fried jalapenos and pickles, no thanks :)

i can't abide green tomatoes in any way, shape, or form; too sharp! Even their smell! Ick! But then.. I had to work hard to acquire a taste for tomatoes at all; when I was a child, they'd take the skin right off the inside of my mouth. Now as an adult, I have a very hard time digesting them, without a great deal of pain and suffering... so I mostly avoid them completely. I love pizza, but I usually scrape off as much of the tomato sauce as i can, and also make sure to take Beano both before and after I eat. I have such slow digestion, the acid in the tomatoes causes the most agonizing gas to build up inside me.

That is a shame tomatoes do you that way. I dont know if I could live without tomatoes. Times I will buy a carton of cherry tomatoes and eat them like grapes. When I was a kid my mom would fry up a bunch of green tomatoes and a couple hamburger patties. My dad and me would eat our fill on the green tomatoes and that hamburger would still be on the plate :)

We would also do the same thing with fried zucchini and the white patty pan squash. :giggle:

I don't eat gourds at all

I grew up eating summer (yellow) squash; down here, it's cooked till it's basically just mush, with a little bit of chopped onion. When I got older, I tasted zucchini and loved it too, though now I usually make a casserole of both zucchini & yellow squash, a bit of onion, some sharp cheese, and breadcrumbs. Yum!

I hear that those yankee squashes are sweet, and that just kinda grosses me out. I can't abide sweet potatoes or yams either; YUCK!!!

I do love pumpkin pie, though. :)
