Dr. Crandall: Stem Cell Treatment Heals the Heart
Approximately 800,000 people suffer a heart attack annually. The resulting damage weakens the heart’s ability to function properly and pump blood throughout the body. This can lead to heart failure, a life-threatening condition that causes shortness of breath, fatigue, swollen legs and other symptoms that diminish quality of life.
Now, stem cell therapy has been found to improve quality of life in heart failure patients and reduce the risk for future heart attacks and heart-related death.
Editor’s Note: New Treatments for Heart Failure, Strokes, MS, and Autism
“Stem cells are very interesting. In the Old Testament it said the life of a person is in the blood. And this is really true,” says Chauncey Crandall, M.D., the New York Times bestselling author of “The Simple Heart Cure: The 90-Day Program to Stop and Reverse Heart Disease.”
“Stem cells come from your bone marrow. These are really mother cells ─ they make many different populations of different cells. They have the ability to go to the tissue and heal the tissue,” Crandall tells Newsmax’s “Newsline. “And for the heart, we have found this to be true,” adds Crandall, a Yale-trained heart surgeon and the editor of the popular Dr. Crandall's Heart Health Report newsletter.
Editor’s Note: Medical Establishment Covering Up Secrets
Crandall says that stem cells can be injected into the heart and the heart can regenerate and become stronger.
In a Mayo Clinic study of 315 advanced heart failure patients from 39 hospitals in 10 countries, those who underwent treatment with stem cells taken from their own bone marrow reported improved quality of life one year later, compared to those who received a sham treatment. In addition, the stem cell recipients were less likely to be hospitalized or die.
And the good news is that the stem cells are taken from your own body, says Crandall. “Stem cells are amazing,” says Crandall. He says they can be taken with a needle from your bone marrow, or harvested from your lipid cells and the fatty tissues around your abdomen.
Special: Find Out Your Heart Disease Risk in Just 2 Minutes
The stem cells are then injected through a catheter in the groin into an artery that goes to the heart.
Crandall says that since stem cell treatment for the heart is still experimental, you should ask your doctor about a university near you that may be doing stem cell procedures.
“It is a breakthrough. It is modern medicine and the amazing human body that God created,” says Crandall.

Hey Jimi,
When it comes to comfort food, few dishes offer the warmth and satisfaction of a well-made curry. But what if you could elevate that experience with a unique twist, incorporating the crisp sweetness of apples into a creamy, spiced curry? Enter the vegan sweet apple curry—an innovative, plant-based dish that promises a symphony of flavors in every bite.
Warm, soothing, and invigorating, there are an infinite number of ways to throw it together on the fly. My favorite versions incorporate some subtly sweet element to balance out the piquant spices.
This version takes tart green apples for balance, while infusing a touch of tangy, bright flavor throughout.

Nighttime light exposure has devastating consequences, large-scale study shows

I've encountered this strange theory since the 1990's, and could never accept it. If we didn't evolve sleeping around fires, our entire species would have been eaten up by bears and big cats before we could ever even discover other kinds of lighting.

Now I do understand some of what's bad about blue light, and I do think people sleep better in a dark room, but one of the theories is that if you don't sleep in a completely blacked out room you'll get cancer. That's completely ridiculous.

these days if you say the word cancer then you will get it, thats according to some of the 55 million experts out there mind you,

This is how it goes: That big club George Carlin spoke of, "it's a big club and you ain't in it", is made up of all the powerful multinational corporations who do what they want for profits and get away with it. So if you live next to a farm where they spray glyphosate quarterly on a schedule, and you come down with lymphoma, or you live next to a toxic waste dump and you come down with cancer, or you take Ozempic and come down with thyroid cancer, or whatever it is, wherever it is, and there are hundreds of opportunities for all of these unethical monsters to give you cancer, and you file suit to get help with your hundreds of thousands in medical bills, they'll just say "well have you been sleeping with a light on?". You say yeah, sure, there's a nightlight so I don't trip on the dog when I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, they'll just all say, the doctor, the polluter, all of the culprits, "well there's your problem. It's you, not us. It's not our chemical, not our drug, not our toxic food; it's your night light".

Here's a pile of shite from August 28, Time Magazine, "ultra processed food isn't as bad as you think".

New Treatment May Reverse Early Alzheimer’s Progression
Millions of Americans live with Alzheimer’s, a neurodegenerative disease that affects memory and critical thinking skills. Until this point, existing treatments focused on temporarily improving symptoms but didn’t stop the underlying cause of the disease. Now, a new study published in the journal iScience may provide a new treatment strategy that targets a certain type of protein that regulates cell repair.
While the exact cause of Alzheimer’s is still being studied, scientists know that cell-signaling molecules called heparan sulfate-modified proteins play a critical role in the formation of amyloid plaques, which lead to neurodegeneration. By disrupting the sugar processes associated with these proteins, scientists were able to stimulate cell repair and reverse cellular abnormalities in both human and mouse brain cells with Alzheimer’s.
Intervening early to reverse these processes holds promise for slowing Alzheimer’s progression. Plus, experts say it may also benefit other neurodegenerative disease like Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
6 Surprising Benefits of Beta Glucan (Are You Getting Enough?)
There are two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. Insoluble fiber gets all the attention. It’s the one that stays unchanged in your digestive system, bulking up your stool so you stay regular. Soluble fiber—and in particular beta glucan—gets far less recognition. Yet, this critical substance, which is found in foods like barley, rye, oats, yeast, and shiitake mushrooms, is being studied in laboratories across the world, and for good reason.
This important nutrient, which doesn’t dissolve in your gut, stimulates many important changes in your body. Beta glucan can help to support your immune system, lower your cholesterol, prevent blood sugar spikes, aid in weight loss, and more. Plus, it’s even being studied as a cancer treatment.
In fact, beta glucan has been researched and studied for over 50 years. There are nearly 200,000 published studies in PubMed discussing their safety, efficacy and use. Plus, more than 100 trials on glucan are currently being conducted on ClinicalTrials.gov. Learn more about this vital substance and why you want to make sure you’re getting enough!

Eating Plant Protein In Midlife May Promote Healthy Aging
Adding more plant-based protein into your diet during midlife could support healthier aging for women. A recent study conducted by researchers from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Tufts University analyzed health and dietary data from over 48,000 women participating in the Nurses’ Health Study from 1984 to 2016. What they found is that women who increased their plant-based protein intake had improved mobility, fewer chronic diseases, and slower cognitive decline. (More)
Women More Prone to Post-Cardiac Arrest Anxiety & Depression
Experiencing cardiac arrest doesn’t just affect your physical health, but your mental health as well. Researchers have found that women are more prone to developing depression and anxiety following cardiac arrest than men. Plus, women are 50% more likely to be prescribed antidepressants within the first year following a heart attack. (More)
Artificial Intelligence Reveals Little-Known Cancer Risk
Our DNA, which is the unique genetic code that’s found in every cell in our bodies, also contains portions scientists call “junk code” because they don’t tell our bodies how to make proteins. However, with the aid of artificial intelligence, researchers have found that these aren’t “junk” areas at all—but may contain genetic codes that could lead to 12 types of cancer. This opens the door to new areas of cancer research. (More)

What’s holding you back from successful winter production, Jimi?

Winter farming obstacles usually come down to just four areas:

  • Crops
  • Infrastructure
  • Timing
  • Systems
If a whole variety fails on you? That’s a crop problem. Heating or ventilation issues? That’s an infrastructure problem. Slow crop growth? That’s a timing problem. An abundance of weeds? That’s a problem with your systems or processes.

One small mistake is all it takes to cut your winter production in half. I’ve seen many growers miss out on high yields for their winter crops, just because they planted a week or two past the ideal planting window 🥶

But if you do master these four areas, you have the formula for winter farming success!

We’ve just opened enrollment to our winter farming course, so you can get video training on these four areas and learn how to set yourself up for successful winter production.

GF15- Winter Growing Success- Course Card

What’s in the course?

🌱CROPS: Learn planting timetables and production basics for arugula, lettuce, Asian greens, swiss chard, and other winter crops.

🚜INFRASTRUCTURE: Discover tunnel design must-haves, coverage options, winter ventilation guidelines, types of heating systems, and more!

🕛TIMING: Understand the basics of winter production and how to master timing for maximum yield, despite the shortened daylight.

💧SYSTEMS: Enjoy additional training on soil prep, steaming, weed control, irrigation, and other vital components of your winter growing system.

This month I've got more soil recipes for you!

First, if you didn't get a chance to see the Sheet Mulching Infographic (with Healthy Soil Hacked Download), check that out.

For more soil recipes to try, check out this article on Korean Natural Farming Amendments.

If you're ready to dig deeply into the fundamentals of healthy soil and growing food (whether you've never gardened before or have been growing food for years), check out our signature course Growing Food the Basics. It's prerecorded and online so you can absorb all the information at your own pace. This is the course I WISH I'd had decades ago - check it out to avoid making many of the mistakes that I and other long-term growers had to learn the hard way! Click here to see everything you learn in Growing Food the Basics.

As always, please email me if I can answer any questions for you.

By the way... we have an equinox coming up!

September 21st is one of two equinoxes where the sun is between its maximum and minimum declination. This means that the sun will roughly be midway through its journey from high to low and back again and hanging out right above the equator. (Actually the date is a little off depending on the astronomical v. meteorological seasons, but close enough.) I invite you on this day, as well as on December 21 and June 21 to go out in your yard multiple times during the day and observe where the sun is in the sky. This will help you with garden placement, microclimates and so much more.

In the Northern hemisphere it is autumn and plants are triggered by the longer nights to start drying up and preserving resources. This is a good time to go take pictures of your yard at noon to document the changes you are seeing. This is also the time that most yards need a little TLC to prepare for the coming winter.

In the Southern hemisphere it is spring, so our plants will be triggered by the shorter nights to grow faster at this point. This is a good time for you to go take pictures of your yard at noon to document the changes you are seeing. This is also the time that most yards tend to look their best.

Enjoy, and if you are willing please post pictures on our Facebook page (of the private Urban Farm U Facebook community if you have access via one of our courses) so we can all share the inspiration. Please use #TheUrbanFarmInspirationChallenge in your comments.
