I guess I don't need a Resistance Reset function after all... Just need to learn how to use the G2 properly... :giggle:

I got this answer back on FB the other night, tried it out and it works perfectly.

Hi TD, when atomizer is off, hitting or just tapping fire button when tank/atty is off device will reset both resistance and EPT values. Only way it is retained is tank/atty is not put back on device in 10 seconds.

I don't remember that info in the manual...

I think I may have just stumbled upon something. I'm sitting here, watching a movie puffing on my recoil on the G2. I get the whole no fire thing. I look at the coils, they look wet but nothing extra in the bottom. I drip more and it's instant fire again. Maybe the mod is detecting no juice to prevent dry fire, the whole point of TC in my opinion. I don't know how it works but maybe the mod "thinks" it's dry when it's not?

I recently bought 3 of the flagship DNAs. A Vapor Shark DNA 200, an hCigar VT200, and an hCigar VT133. I wanted to explore all the more popular avenues I had been reading about. While I definitely like the form factor of the 3 DNAs more than the G2, the G2 (at least today) is still the best mod I own. With all of the customization available on the DNA screens, I still like the G2 screen better. It has all the information I want to see without sacrificing anything. I can adjust everything straight from the mod, which I always took for granted. And last but not least, it's considerably more affordable than most of the DNA 200 mods. I only wish it came in a case like the Boxer V2 or the Fuchai 213.

There's always the Slice. If you can deal with 101w and the shitty paint job it's much more ergonomic than the G2. While I'm not happy with the paint job I absolutely love the mod. I think I'm just going to wind up doing a simple wrap for it.

I've looked at the Slice, not my cup of tea. 101 watts is fine, but... Hohmtech needs a new design team, lol. I wonder how tough it would be to put the G2 guts in a different box?

Tbh, my Slice gets grabbed a lot more than my G2. It's just an easier more comfortable carry. Suprisingly the fast charging feature has come in real handy. I do love them both though. My dream mod is an FSK chip in a flask.

Same here. The battery on the G2 is waaayyyy better than the slice. Imo
I havent explored 1% of its features but just in xxx mode the g2 owns the slice for an all day carry

I really like the 3 DNA mods I have but the best mod I own as well is the G2. The difference to me on which chip most people prefer depends on vape style, the FSK chip just matches my vape style better. A lot of times I run my DNA in TC mode so I can have the preheat applied and bump up my temp to between 550 and 600. Sort of defeats the purpose of preventing burnt hits at 600 but I just want it to hit hard and there is no preheat in power mode.

TC is not for everyone, I enjoy it sometimes but I prefer power mode overall in most mods except the FSK mods. Just like there are MTL and DTL vapers there are power and TC users so what chip is the best just depends on the user.

I am with you all on wishing there was a better enclosure, I can overlook it for the G2 and Slice because I love the performance. That said I wish someone smarter that me would design a new case we could gut our FSK devices and put them in. Considering you can get a Slice for $60 and a G2 for a little more they are a stone cold bargain, I paid a lot more for my Triade and use it a lot less.

Oh the slice is more pocketable... but It's my at home mod usually. I carry my 213 for all day runnings.
But in a carry in hand kinda guy. The g2 is fine by either way

C'mon now Mjag. You don't want to anger the DNA Gods. Anything but full compliance will not be tolerated. These are the DNA commandments:

1.) Thou shall have no other mods before the DNA.
2.) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image of other mods.
3.) Thou shalt not take the name of the DNA in vain.
4.) Remember the DNA, to keep it holy.
5. Honour thy DNA 30 and thy DNA 40.
6.) Thou shalt not kill the DNA.
7.) Thou shalt not use any other mod.
8.) Thou shalt not steal a DNA.
9.) Thou shalt not bear false witness against a DNA.
10.) Thou shall not covet another vapers DNA.

Don't make me remind you of these commandments again. The consequences will be dire.

LMFAO!

Have over a Dozen DNAs & pretty much love them all (despite a few failures along the way). Was intrigued with the Holm Wrecker G2 Kanthal TC Claims, so on Labor Day I ordered one new from Ecig.com for $58.40, and I have to say I'm impressed w/ Kanthal TC. Think it does pretty darn well in Kanthal TC even if its accuracy is somewhat subjective, I have been enjoying it despite its size, boxy appearance, lack of USB Charging & overall looks. Love the idea of actually being able to use the many stock Kanthal coils I have laying around here for a change (been TC Vaping pretty much exclusively for 2 yrs now on mods & almost a year on TC All-in-Ones).

I was intrigued & impressed enough by it's performance to order a Hohm Slice Limited Edition in Stainless from Vapor Beast for $61.56 the other day. I realized there were a lot of battery cover & paint deterioration issues on the Slice that were being corrected. Tried to cancel after Vapor Beast confirmed on an inquiry by me that their stock appears to be first run stock (I'm assuming they have had customer complaints along these lines or are aware of some issues) but they had physically shipped the unit one hour prior to my cancel request. They were kind enough to tell me if I refused the shipment when it arrives & return to sender they would credit me in full which I am impressed with & give them credit for.

Now I'm torn because I do want the unit. Since I had ordered the finish in Stainless Steel, I was thinking that it might be a bit more durable than the actual Baked Ceramic paint finishes that seem to be failing. Considering the FDA has shut down the us market I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities to buy a corrected unit over the next two years. If the Stainless finish is indeed more durable though, it would just be a lot of wasted time. Do any of you have any thoughts or recommendations on the matter? What would you do?

I am pretty sure the Stainless Steel is still a baked ceramic paint finish. The body is a zinc alloy so the SS finish they paint on should be less noticeable if it chips or rubs off than the other colors.

Would be good to check with hohmtech on when the new Slice with upgraded paint and battery door will be available. I would think the first place it would be available to order would be vaporcube.com which has an association with them.

Email to HohmTech sent Asking for Correction Status, Serial Number cutoff of corrected units, and notification were corrected units can be obtained. Further requested swapout, pricematch or eventual warranty replacement of unit currently in shipment.

Appreciate the feedback.

Did look that way in pics. Receipt said Stainless so I thought these were manufactured differently as part of the correction. Ordered more than a few stainless unit that had the description silver, but this is the first silver unit I ordered that had the description Stainless.

Edit: According to VaporBeast Customer service: "It would be actual stainless steel and not paint".

I'm very doubtful of that claim and forwarded that to HohmTech for clarification, but have not heard back yet on that.

Hohmtech did reply to the first email and it was as I expected but very disappointing:

upload_2016-9-27_17-55-48.png

Obviously I realize they need to control costs to remain solvent for a relatively small company, but a company that refuses to offer customers a reasonable course for correcting manufacturers errors such as bad paint peeling off a mod is lacking in my book.

If the factory screwed up the paint on my manufacturing job, I think I would force them to absorb my cost to correct their errors by employing a guy to resurface the mods here in the states at a nominal charge (materials) for interested customers. If the factory refused, I'd bring my business elsewhere.

Looks like the best course of action would be allow the product to mature a bit more before going all in based on their reply.

I'll see how they answer my last email regarding VaporBeast surface claims before making a decision.

Doesn't affect my decision to buy a Hohmtech product at all. Do I wish the paint on my mod was better? Hell yeah, but I'm not going to hold their feet to the fire for it. The way I look at it is at least they're listening to their customers, being proactive and correcting it. They're a small American company doing new and innovative things. I don't expect them to make everyone's paint right. God knows these Chinese companies have done a hell of a lot worse. As long as they're moving forward and correcting things I have no issues. Plus their warranty work, warranty, and customer service are stellar. Why don't you actually get the mod first and then let us know what you think?

All this over a $60 mod... :giggle:

Hell, I wish I could get a Slice here in Canada for $60, bad paint, sloppy door and all...

Maybe you should try a CoV Wraith... Interesting little squonker with a total piece of shit finish, the rubber coating peels off with gentle daily use.
This is an older picture and the whole front of the 510 area has peeled since. Send it back too China for replacement of the same thing and wait 3 months, no I'll just strip it all and call it a day...

Good point @TrollDragon, $60 for a mod with an advanced chip from a US company, maybe we are all getting spoiled with the cheap mods from China. The Slice is not perfect but then again they don't make a perfect mod, doesn't exist. The Triade is more than twice the price and from what I see from others regarding the paint I really baby mine, I actually use a cloth to use it and I can tell the leather is not the best quality.

I can understand the backlash if the Slice was over $100 but I commend them on continuing to make improvements to a $60 mod. I can't imagine the margins are all that great for them so the extra effort they are putting into it is not something a lot of companies would do.

I paid about the same price for my VF Stout which I will admit has better build quality, I have the SS version though, I know the black painted one chips just like the Slice though. I MUCH prefer the chip in the Slice, not that the Stout is a slouch but it is neither better in power or TC mode than the Slice and not as versatile.

I do like my G2's better though, they are just not as portable so I am happy to have my Slice to take with me on the road. If they came out with a Slice V2 in a Stout or VT75 body I would be willing to pay $80 to $100 for that. Would be great if they kept the same price but not realistic, they have to live in the US and make a living just like the rest of us. I think they did a fine job for the price point, could it have been better at a higher price, sure but then people would have complained about the high price compared to China mods.

$60 is $60. And this is about protecting your brand. You cannot come out with a great product like the Hohm Wrecker and that follow it up with a low quality mod in Slice. That would be like Apple releasing a sh#tty phone at a lower price and customers just accepting it. Hohm Tech should have just stayed with high quality / high price. Consumers would still pay. And I disagree they are good customer service. Just listening but not taking action for your current customers would be like Amazon listening to your problem but not allowing you to return a product. So to the person who wants to know if they should return their box unopened, I say absolutely. And to the person in Canada, happy to sell you mine.

Bottom line is $60 means a lot of different things to different people. I could really care less or give a fuck how anyone else spends their money. It's really none of my damn business. To complain about a mod before you even have it in hand is kind of ridiculous. You don't like the mod or the reviews the answer is quite simple, don't buy it. To chastise a company for making improvements and listening and reacting to their customers wishes is also ridiculous. So far Chris you have the distinct honor of being the first person I have seen complain about HT's customer service and I'm pretty active here. I have dealt with most of the people at HT from CS all the way up to Ben himself and they have gone above and beyond on every request. Are they perfect? No, no company is but they put out an honest effort and they care about their customers. They're not a bunch of suits sitting in a board room discussing how they can save a nickel by using a cheaper 510. They're vapers and they build mods for vapers. Keep your Chinese crap. I'll take an HT product over them any day and if they make a few mistakes along the way that's fine too as long as they learn from them. If you were expecting a $60 mod to have G2 type of build quality, well that's just not realistic. Put your Slice up for sale I'm sure the guy from Canada would love to buy it at a reasonable price.

I got the original RX DNA200 version when it first came but was too dumb to figure out all the settings in escribe, sold it to a friend and he had it set up that night :cuss2:

I then got the RX200 when it first came out and was giddy like a fat kid with cake. Got the G2 a few months after that and the RX200 got less and less use. Wound up buying the RX200S as I like the color scheme, new screen and there were reports they upgraded the 510 at first, turned out to be false. My biggest grip with the RX200/200S is it can be temperamental with some tanks when in SS TC mode, most people blame that on the 510 connection. It works most of the time but sometimes both of my RX would fall out of TC mode and revert back to power mode at 20 watts.
I have seen the RX200 go for $25 a couple of times on DOD or flash sales, at that price it is a why not mod, for the normal 45 to $50 range I would pass on it based on my experience so far.

Mods with Yihi chips are solid and DNA chips as well for that matter. I really enjoy using my VT75 with the DNA75 chip and my Revenant with the Yihi SX350J chip is a great vape, the IPV5 also uses a lower end Yihi chip but is a solid mod, the one problem being the up and down buttons sometimes freeze. I have seen the IPV5 go for $29 on holiday weekend sales.

With all that said though if you are a power junkie than the G2 is hard to beat and for $60 is a killer buy, I use all 3 of mine everyday.

I use both my Slice as well everyday but I can understand the value seems to not be there with the recent price drops on the G2. If the G2 still sold for $150+ then I think the value perspective might be different for the Slice, you would be getting the performance for a 1/3 less. I don't feel cheated with the Slice but yeah, I would have gladly paid more for better build quality.

I can see were you guys who are bummed with the Slice are coming from, I don't feel the same way but I can understand.

Yep people are forgetting that the G2 normally goes for $135 and up. We just happen to have found a killer deal at ecig.com so we're spoiled. I'm not saying the Slice doesn't have its problems because it definitely does. In fact I was probably one of the first members here to get one and review it. I even upated the review for the paint and battery door. I know guys that have been the third owner of a G2, sent it in for warranty work without a receipt and they were taken care of. Show me a Chinese mod maker that will do that.

Bottom line.
Price point, customer service and durability The g2 is the winner. Yeah, I'm buying another g2, last thing I want is some piece of shit blowing up in my hands. If a dna200 box happens to be on sale then sure I'll have it, for now the FSK g2 is just hands down the best value!! My 0.2

With the china mods once they put one out you might get a firmware update if its even firmware upgradable but as soon as the next one comes out good luck seeing anything for it. I feel like Hohmtech is focused on their product, trying to make it better and not just seeing what new shape of a enclosure they can cram their chip into. The G2 is a very well made mod that performs great at a resonable price. Its not the most ergo mod or the smallest one but for me I dont mind the box shape after vaping for almost 5 years I want performance and quality the rest comes second. I havent had to deal with their CS and hopefully wont have to but from what I hear they will take care of the customer.

Hi. I'm about to get my G2 tomorrow so I'm already prepping my laptop to update the software. I downloaded both raymo2u and the updater on the site and proceeded to install the drivers. Nothing happens when I double click on them while running admin, nor when I right click open as admin. A dialog box should pop up right?

Edit: using Windows 8.1 btw. I missed the win 10 update as I was using Ubuntu more.

I mainly use Windows Xp pro SP2 and never ever have driver issues. I do radio commercial programming so XP is important to have. I also have Windows 7, 8 and 10. I haven't tried using the update software on the hohm tech devices but I am pretty certain all the newer windows versions will find the drivers for you.
