3.5% FSK curve. This is what I've found to be ideal. It's to crazy on 171w (I just updated) or do I need to leave it on 171w and just adjust the curve?

Adjust any of the settings to your likeness. If you like it the way it is, keep it the way it is. There are no real rules with the fsk board.

the wattage you pick is basically the ramp up time when doing TC mode. higher watts = faster ramp up. the mod will control the rest. when i use XXX mode i usually start low (3.5 is fine) set it to 450f and 171 watts and then adjust the FSK curve until i get my vape how i like it.

honestly though the pre set modes are so good i rarely use XXX mode. only time i used it was when i made a twisted wire of kenthal/SS430/NiFe52 and i got it to work perfect. it's an amazing mod

Alright. Still trying to get accustomed to tc. Only experience was a shitty one with the great mutation 40w tc box.

Explain the fsk curve to me, does higher=hotter or vise versa. Or is it totally different?

Yes, the higher the fsk the hotter it's going to be. But...you don't want to adjust the fsk to high to achieve a warmer vape, do that with the temp. If the fsk is too high then the temp control wont function properly and you will get burnt hits. I find that if I want it warmer I'll turn up the temp till I get to around 500, if it's not hot enough then I'll turn up the fsk a couple 0.X points then turn the temp back down to around 420 and start adjusting the heat up higher again. That's the way I do it, and it's been great for me so far.
If you build coils with all the same wire then the presets will work just as well for the most part. I have found some fused claptons, staged heating with helix wire and basic twisted coils work better with XXX mode.

it depends on the wire. each has a different range but in general yes. the higher the % the more it expects the wire's resistance to fluctuate. for example NI wire might be 80% because the Resistance goes up a lot while kenthal would be like 5% becuase it doens't go up much at all

this^ thats why i said 450f get a good vape from it then if you want it hotter just adjust the temp a big higher or if you want cooler adjust the temp lower. IMO 450 is a good baseline

Generally I usually vape around 450 as well but the 5% fsk kills me. Generally I'm between 3.5 and 4. On a few occasions I have had to go higher but that was with heavy coils

The slice runs the same board but at a diminished max output. Only 101, but for tanks built for out and about its a great pocketable mod. I don't have one yet but I thibk I will get one during the black friday sales.

I only vape with SS. I use the FSK Curve to fine tune my vape. Right now I'm running simple dual coils in my Bellus on my silver G2. I'm ohming out at .13, 60w, and 500f. I have my FSK set at 11.00 and I'm getting a mighty fine vape. I suggest you use the base FSK Curves, find the wattage and temp you like and then adjust the FSK up or down in .5 increments until you find the vape you really like. Yes, it does take a little tinkering but after a while it becomes second nature and you are rewarded with one great vape.

only in TC mode lol. don't throw 171 at every build in watt mode. but really not much of a reason for watt mode on a G2. TC mode works so well and for every wire

I've been using the slice for about a week now. just got it and love it. been using the freemax starre pure tank at 55 watts and the boreas with dual fused clapton ss316l build at 360F in SS316 mode 101 watts (for faster ramp up) great mod, easy to carry and charges fast

I am honestly on the fence about this mod...So I have some 3mm 316L 26/30 7wrap dual claptons in my Aromamizer Supreme LE and figured why not just set it to SS, adjust the temps to where I normally have it on my DNA, and give it a whirl... TO HOT my goodness.. ( Normally 450F 50w 75w pre-heat 6 punch)

Now stay with me.. So I lowered the temp to 420f and watts to 50... PAYLOAD! its the way I like my vape... Ok so SS TC working pretty well...ran the tank almost down to nothing, kept puffing to see if I'll get a dry hit...none...awesome right? INDEED!

Now why I am on the fence... Maybe its just me, and my horrible luck with mods...my brand new VCT5A's Don't like this mod all that much I guess... I slap them in, nothing...Great POS doesn't work...( should know already that its vaping fine, but I digress ) I hit the mode button, INSANE something something, WOOT POWER! right?....NO...maybe I'm just stupid lol...I swivel the batteries, BOOM POWER! Awesome right? .... No shuts off again LOL.

MOTHER FUCK!

So I swap the positions of the batteries and everything is Shit and Giggles! VAPE!

Continued why I am on the fence.

I am enjoying the vape so much out of this little fucker, its getting beyond my liking of warm lol
Batteries are getting warm...Mod is warm, hell its fucking 92* in Chula Vista today, chalk it up to it being warm here I suppose.

Anyhoo In short... On the fence, but I've only had it for an hour LOL

Obligatory picture for posterity.

chula vista lol. close to my town. i live in mira mesa but work in lakeside where it's normally 100+ and i never notice the mod getting warm. the slice gets a little warm though.

one thing to remember, the G2 has a built in non adjustable 171 watt preheat for a split second
the battery thing is weird though. never had that issue. especially with the giant battery contacts. look how huge those fuckers are

if the vape is a little too warm drop it down 10 more degrees.

Good luck with them for sure! I didn't like the manufacturing inconsistencies between the coils.
Not to derail the G2 thread too much, but how did you rewick them? I couldn't get the coil apart without smashing the ceramic, that bottom slug is pressed in quite tight.
I pulled out the bottom plug and the little rubber adapter, when I did that it gave me some slack on the ceramic coil. I just put some cotton in the first hole and worked it all the way around with some tweezers. It gets a little tight before you finish becuse the slack is taken up around the ceramic. I thought I might have some dry hits as the cotton got pretty tight when I was finishing up, but I didn't. I don't vape at real high wattage though. Usually around 45 to 50 watts. IF you vape higher it might give you some drier hits, or you could just wick it looser than I did.

Thanks for the info, but way too much work for my liking...

I have the notch coils inbound for the Ultimo and you can just unscrew the top off of them for a wick change. I really like the little tank, but the Ceramic coils were a real letdown for me.

50W was what I vaped the Ultimo at as well.

This happens to me from time to time. Though it hasn't in a while, I believe that I fix it by slowly turning the fsk up by 0.1 incriminates. Trying to fire 4 or 5 times between increases.

If your not taking a hit then it should drop in watts, if not then you just smoke your cotton.

Like has been mentioned though you probably have to just up your FSK %.

It also depends on the quality of your batteries too. If they are really old or poor quality it will limit how hard it hits. I am only mentioing that as your batteries are at 50%. If your really running it hard the mod will limit you when your batteries are too low, a safety feature.

You might try running it at 100 watts or whatever you normally do. I sometimes run my G2 up high but generally it is in the 80 to 100 watt range. It already has a built in ramp up so usually it is not a big difference between 80 or 171 watts depending on your temp and fsk.

Not saying it's wrong or anything, just something to try.

I also once took off a tank that had a SS coil in it and threw on a tank with a kanthal coil but didn't know it, nearly coughed up a lung so I keep it lower since my memory sucks as to which tank has what kind of coil....lol

So I sold off my G2 back in August... saw that sale last week from Vapor Cube and blizzam... Snagged up another red and silver Limited Edition. About to unbox it and set it up. Wonder firmware this little beast is on.

I will say this... as much as I do not like the hand feel compared to any of my other mods... the temp control of any metals with this chip... you miss it when you don't have it! Oh how you miss it!

Glad to be back in G2 land though!

To be fair, it's my daily driver, most used mod by far. However, I did expect the paint to hold up better. Been thinking of just sanding down to bare metal.

I wanted to get a slice, but I haven't had much luck or love for single battery mods. :-/ More than likely I just don't know how to properly build for them to get the style of vape I want, but I would love a nice single battery mod that still worked great and gave me a vape that I like. I had a Hcigar VT75 Nano and it turned out to REALLY not be for me. Would only work well with a fully charged fresh battery and then hardly work in the 55+ w range. So I never used the thing and saw the deal for the G2 for $45 shipped, I sold it and bought another G2.

from my experience with the slice so far
I'm running a dual 5 wrap fused clapton SS build 3mm ID .12 ohms in a boreas. 101 watts 360F in SS316 mode. i get good ramp up and a nice smooth vape. it starts to weaken around 20% battery life (mind you batteries are 4500mah for 26650 not 2500 or 3000 like 18650)

I'm also running the freemax starre pure tank. .25 ohm ceramic coil at 55 watts flat and it doesn't weaken until about 15% battery life but still can use it to almost 0.

it has fast charging (they claim 3 amps but I'm using my 2amp samsung charger for my s7 edge) and it charges about 1% per minute (using basen black batteries) AT work I'll vape all day. i bring a spare battery. vape till lunch. charge it during lunch. vape again all day and then switch batteries about 1 hour before i leave work. and I'm getting great vapes with both tanks

I know what you mean. I have 2 single 18650 mods (IPV V2 mini 70 watt and eleaf aster) and the performance drops at higher watts pretty quickly. I never use them. I only used dual 18650 mods until i got the slice last week and so far i love it.

Lol, nah I'm a bartender so my hands are always wet. Like I said I still love the mod but that paint is really disappointing. On the bright side it gives the mod character. I think of it the same way I think of a road beaten motorcycle jacket vs. a nice shiny brand new one. When you see a biker with a road worn jacket you know he's a real biker.
