The secret is using the polishing pads..... The Minikin Kodama I got today was flat wood..... I started with 4000 paper and went up to 12,000..... It took me most of the day...... This is without any wax.....
The resin that makes the wood shine is in the actual wood.....
The heat is what activates the resin.... Or better said melts some of the resin ...... And the wood absorbs it while you sand........
It takes hours upon hours to get it right and not split the wood..... If you coat the wood with a clear coat it will crack.... Because it can't absorb moisture..... And it dries.....
There are 1000's of YouTube videos that show you how is done.....watch the process on how a Stabwood block is produced and how it's turned into a mod.......
You could not see the colors at the beginning it was dull as hell..... The polishing is what brings the wood alive......

I haven't polished mine yet, but I guess I need these- do not use clear coat! They need to be buff sanded to get that shiny, glassy look.
Plus the "nail file, buffer" Asmodus includes is a polisher- I haven't tried it yet.

30% off Asmodus again. Don't know why they keep doing that but better for us. Manny, I am not sure if that is your photography or they really look that way? None of mine look anything like that. Thor is a deal at Asmodus but the Ultroner has DNA250C limited to 90W. It is better but not worth $100 more for the chip. Plus at 30% off they were like $118. That is an insane steal. Obviously he got the last one. A custom stabwood DNA75C or VA is like $650. I am the one that bought them all, sorry.
Use Butchers bowling alley wax. Does not come off. Will protect and shine. Do not use any other type of wax! Absolutely do not use acrylic lucite! It will coat the wood while melting the resin! It will be a freaking disaster.

I am bummed. Never got colors like you folks. Even with a 1/1. EOS is not "real" stabwood. It is a thin veneer on aluminum frame but I still like it. I am talking about Kodama and Thor though. Thor was a steal at $118. I bought them all, sorry LOL.

I have always loved stabwood- but has been for the most part too expensive for me to own.
Thanks to Vapor Range and Asmodus sales I can finally afford them!
I love Asmodus- great that they are a US Based company that will do warranty and repair work- didn't want to get stuck with an expensive paperweight!

Yes I like the EOS II very much- feels comfortable to hold and great on battery life.
The only con on this mod is the battery door- I have a hard time with it, but seems to be not so tight the more I use it! Maybe just mine, I have watch reviews and theirs all slide much easier than mine!
Asmodus is having a 30% off sale until 2/1 - Vapor Range has this for a great price too.

My 2 EOS I are are both real stabwood- they are not veneers. They are removable stabwood doors. They are thick stabwood doors- solid.
I see you have both the EOS I and the II, which do you prefer? Obviously, I’d use my Drag mini for vaping on the go, but I’d love one of these for home use. If I’m going to buy another mod, I think I want something a little nicer than I have now.

I love them both-
The EOS II is more comfortable to hold and I love the full color screen.
The EOS I battery doors are easy to get on and off- but sometimes I can feel movement on them and it has the older Black/White Screen, and the square shape is not as comfortable as the EOS II
The EOSI is on such a great sale so really nice prices on those I paid under $50.00 for each.
If your budget allows- I would get the EOS II- very nice and newer, I don't think you could go wrong with it- Asmodus does show some and so you can choose the exact one you want.
The problems with most sites is they don't show pictures- can't choose the colors you want- yes you can pick a color family like say purple- but they are all different!

I thought it was veneer. That is awesome. Getting that. I like it better. For solid stabwood this is like almost free. The ones you can pick are 1/1 they are more unique.

I fully understand even $300 is unobtainable to many people. I get that. I am not a Dick. Just tellin' Y'all what I got. Probably do not get another Mod in 2019 but maybe used RDA. My Great grandson has to build it for me because I have advanced Parkinson's. I have to type this with one hand holding the other but it is all good. I do not feel bad, I had a good life.

I must stand corrected. Just spoke with Ultroner. All Asmodus products(including stabwood) are made by Ultroner in China. So good I thought made in USA. It is nice to see China bring the game. This is what you would expect from Japan, not China! China can make any quality. They get a bad rep because US companies try to "job" the lowest bidder for fabrication. If left to their own devices if they so wish they can make any quality they wish. Including the best. As is exemplified here. Ultroner has proven themselves. It turns out it is Chinese new year. Normal 10-12 days to ship. Due to this they ship it 2nd day no extra cost! So in fact Mod only costs like $240! He also speaks perfect English. As with anyone, different types of Chinese people. Some are peasants and some are highly Educated. I spoke with the CEO too. How often in a US company you speak to the CEO? plus it is like 5am there when he Emailed me!

Is it crazy that I kind of prefer the big chunky EOS I, over the II?
I ordered a ThorII. Yes, it was over $300 with shipping but it is comparable to Mods priced in the stratosphere if you look at that NYC site I posted. It was a 1/1 too. It was actually a "deal" because just the Mod was $400. I paid $270+$32.50 shipping 3day from UK. It will be here Tuesday. I realize this is expensive. No doubt about that. Still much less than any custom.
I am just amazed people equate China with junk. Soon Asmodus will have them for $270ish or less and when they keep giving 30% off hopefully more people can get one in their hands. I am not going to say exactly what but it is a dead ringer for an $8,000 custom Mod. If you look at it that way it was "cheap". I have a feeling that "tube" is going to scratch all over though. I do not mind I use my stuff. I am not a collector.
I could not figure out pictures and frustrated the poop out of me. I am sorry because I really want Y'all to see this. I am too old and sick to frustrate myself though. Yours is beautiful.... Don't be lazy and start polishing, the colors are deep in that wood, you think she is beautiful now ...... after several hours you will see the colors begin to pop...... and the wood will become like glass...... It takes effort and watching TV and polishing..... Toilet and polish..... Polish and Polish....

I think I need to learn how to maintain stab wood properly and how to polish it.I was always afraid that I might screw it up.

Now the next picture is what was hiding under that brown color on the first image.....
They just don't spend hours polishing a $300 mod......
To get results and colors you need to get into the Resin...... Polish your ass off and you will get results.....
And picture #3 are the real colors of the mod..... No messing with colors and no Photoshop.... That's the mod after 15 to 20 hours of polishing.

The batteries are easier to get in and out of the EOS I - great prices on those at Vapor Range and Asmodus. I own 2 of them and using one right now- LOL!
