Get the Right Kinds of Oils

The Houston Oilers left Texas for Nashville in 1996 with the hope that becoming the Tennessee Titans would help improve their record of 16 losing seasons in 34 years. It turned out to be a good move, as they went to Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000.

Clearly, they needed an oil change! And so do many of YOU.

Intake of salad dressings and cooking oils has gone from around 10 pounds per person annually in the 1950s to 35 pounds today.

Highly processed oils and those invented in the 20th century are best avoided. That means corn oil, shortening made with hydrogenated palm oil, and soybean oil. Solid fats like margarine also increase inflammation.

Instead, opt for cold-pressed or expeller-pressed oils that have been extracted without use of a chemical solvent. For high-heat cooking, use polyunsaturated fats such as grapeseed or avocado oil.

For all other purposes, opt for monounsaturated oils like olive, almond, peanut, safflower, sesame, and canola oil.

Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats help lower bad LDL cholesterol and help prevent some cancers and stroke.

And omega-3, in the form of alpha-linolenic acid in canola and walnut oil, reduces plaque buildup in the arteries and keeps blood sugar levels in check.

Bonus tip: Fish oils have DHA omega-3s, which reduce brain, eye, and joint inflammation.

3 Shamanic Ceremonial Herbs For Creating Sacred Space
The primordial healing traditions of the world vary in many ways, but one core belief they all share is that everything inside of us possesses an energy or spiritual charge. Feelings of negativity aren't dismissed or coped with in these cultures; they are worked with and cleared, often through the ritualistic burning of herbs or plant resins.

If you feel stuck, stressed, overwhelmed, blocked, low energy, or laden with inner conflict in your life, this ancient method of clearing the air is definitely something to try.

Combining the right intentions with specific herbs can make for a powerful ritual.

Below, I’m going to share three shamanic ceremonial herbs that are perfect to use for space clearing and how best to use them all together.

1. Use Sage to clear

Sage is a wonderful purification herb that can be used in your home, workspace, automobile, or any other place you spend time in. I like to use sage, known by the scientific name Salvia officinalis, when I'm traveling to cleanse hotel rooms before I settle in.

We burn it after having guests over, to reset the space and send everyone's energies along with them. For anyone working in healing arts, sage is especially important to use after each session, to purify the healing environment between clients.

To start working with this herb, open a window or a door and then slowly walk through each room with a piece of burning sage, allowing the smoke to spread over all the surfaces. Try setting the intention of clearing, releasing, and letting go of anything that no longer serves you, or that doesn’t belong.

As you can imagine, Jim, I get asked “when are you going to do a webinar on ____” about just about everything you can think of…
but UNDOUBTEDLY the one that I’ve been asked about the MOST over the years is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).
And my answer for HBOT, along with everything else we haven’t done a webinar on, has always been mostly the same…
we only do webinars on things we see fit to spend the money on for ourselves, and have seen a major benefit in doing so…
and until recently, that wasn’t the case with HBOT.
It’s an oxygen-based therapy, and we already use and talk about ozone, which is also oxygen-based and is less expensive. I knew there was SOME research about hyperbaric and cancer
but what I knew about it wasn’t enough to make me run out and get one.
However, it’s been coming up more and more at the integrative cancer conferences I’ve been going to over the past couple of years because the research has really started to pile up
so much so that it was starting to gnaw at me that we didn’t have one, particularly because it’s also HUGE in the autism world, and Ryder still has some mild spectrum stuff we continue working through…
so at the beginning of this year, we took the plunge (or I guess “dive” would be a better term, as that’s what using hyperbaric is sometimes referred to :) )
and long story short, the whole family loves it! Interestingly, all for different reasons. :)
For the cancer research / applications specifically, Ryder’s naturopathic oncologist / prolific teacher of other doctors 👉 Dr. Paul Anderson sums it up quite nicely in this video
which is very nice of him to sum up in 13 minutes, as I’ve sat through him taking a couple of hours in conferences with all sorts of elaborate charts and diagrams. :)
If you don’t want to take the 13 minutes (or 6.5 minutes at 2x speed), here’s the list of bullet points I jotted down:
  • Synergistic with conventional treatments
