Date night at SeaPort Village

Since the wife is off today, we decided to do our nightly walking at SPV.

Wasn’t freezing, but we had a rain front push through and the coastal air was a tad cool... for the wife mostly... I wore shorts and a light weight zip up

Was good to see them... been a few years and they called around 10a saying they’ve decided to drive to San Diego and wanted to meet up.

So we had lunch at Coronado

And he let me drive this for a few...

Such a rad vette... but way to much car for this guy.

The cousin behind the wife finished her last Chemo about 2 months ago and still a little frail... but she wanted to get out. Masks off for a quick selfie

I’m the last one in the pick to get vaccinated, which I go in tomorrow morning for

A couple of our Orb Weaver spiders.
The ones you see when you walk are the females. They're the biggest. Body section is about the size of an average green grape.
They're imposing looking and freak you out if you unsuspectingly walk into a web but are non lethal and harmless to humans.

So glad im not a spider :giggle: check out the poor male above this female.

On the way I spotted an Emu in a farmers paddock that I'd seen before. Its a pet and I thought id try to get a picture. Turns out its friendly too and as soon as it saw me it headed my way.

Lots of roos in the Pyrenees but they dont stick around for photos and take off as soon as they see you. The bush there is full of roo paths going through it, all well worn.
Here is a fork one.

The Wallabies though are docile and dont mind if you dont get too close.

! WAKE UP ! from the MEDIA SPELL !
I thought it was warming up there in the States this time of year. Getting colder here now, zero nights here and there. Today only topped 14c where we are.
Snow looks awesome though.
I love smell of those trees. Those and blossoms.

Wild, but very domesticated. There is a pack of 25-30 of them that roam our neighborhood. I took that pic with my car window down, radio full blast :tunez: Didn't even phaze them, lol
Wow 25 to 30! We'd only see the ones in Qld either alone or in pairs. Funny birds.
Ours are much less spectacular looking than yours there. They remind me of a cross between a turkey and vulture really.
Not my picture but this is ours

That might be a turkey vulture, actually. I know they exist, but ours have no color. Just mostly black/grey ish. Yeah, those Toms are probably 4/5 yrs old. Very old by turkey standards, and full of feathers they like to strut for the ladies :teehee:

Funny birds for sure. These roost on peoples roofs next to the chimney for heat instead of in trees  lol

We have a turkey vulture problem in Texas. Hundreds of them fly around looking for food. Cats and small dogs have been known to disappear out of fenced in back yards.

Aussie bush turkey head on vulture body. They sound mean.
Our turkeys are protected too. Though aboriginals can take them for food.
