Nothing fancy. I'm a staunch Tootle Puffer so my builds are simple.

All my Reos are simple single coils in the 1.0 ohm to 1.2 ohm range.

My Nuppin topped Reo is a 6 wrap 28 gauge kanthal coil wrapped around a 2.5mm screwdriver. I think this one is about 1.1 ohms.

My RM2 topped Reo is 7 wrap 28 gauge coil wrapped around a 2.5mm screwdriver. Registering 1.2 ohms. (Probably the prettiest coil I've ever made!)

Like I said nothing fancy. No zippered dragon scale fused whatever the hell, but a great vape none the less!

So a dude ordered some coils, one of which was a pair of framed alien staple coils. This one didn't pass my Q/A, so I figured I'd try it on the Aeronaut clone because I haven't used it yet. BTW, if you order a clone, MAKE SURE it's a 1:1. The one I ordered just has screws, NOT the clamps. I didn't realized that until I got it.

Anyways, this build puts out some serious clouds. Even better than a lot of the more popular dual coil cloud builds. The Aeronaut is not so great on flavor, though. The top air flow holes kinda kill the flavor, but definitely add to the cloud production. If I had put this in a Velocity, the flavor would have been much better.

so with the 316, is this now a temp control build?

welcome to the deep end of the building pool :) be careful though, you'll be doing complex builds and ordering 1000' spools of wire if you hang out with this crew to long, lol.

So I took it out of the Aeronaut wannabe and put it in the Double Vision with single coil airflow. Yowza! This coil has awesome flavor and clouds now!

So I was doing some builds last night, figured I throw something new in my double vision clone after I hooked up the authentic double vision with some staples... Go figure my Double Vision clone can handle bigger coils then my authentic..... Should of just bought a few clones :(

what does that ohm out at, and preferred wattage?
I took it from 5 wraps down to 4/5 wraps, so the resistance got lowered to 0.12Ω. I'm not using a regulated device, it's on my Tugboat clone (parallel mod) with a couple of LG HB6s in it. It's pulling around 33 amps, so the wattage should be around 140 watts on a full battery charge.

Lol, I know you go wonkers on the compvape gear. Did you see my msg about them? if you happen to have a spare top cap for one of them now (or in the future) I'd love to work something out (cash, trade, etc...) So I can really put my 3rd double vision deck to work!

Just got my ribbon wire, anyone have a suggestion for a first build with it?

Also does anyone have a video they prefer that shows building framed builds with ribbon? Not trying to cut my hands to pieces here..

I would do a staple first but that is me. Then a framed staple. Then I would wrap a piece with 40ga and used that too wrap something!

this is by far my fav.

i use pieces of ribbon to hold the stack instead of tape. the ribbon does an bang up job, and no residue.slide the ribbon wrap back as you wrap forward.
the other tip i have for wide builds like this is to use 5min epoxy and a small piece of a coffee stir stick to hold everything at the drill end. place a small dab of epoxy on the tip of your bundle and insert it in the stick. when the epoxy has hardened, chuck up on the section just behind the epoxied end. if done correctly, the core won't be crushed, and it should spin relatively on center.

personally i think that the framed staple is a better start, due to the rounded edge of the frame wire. it allows the wrap wire to slide just that little bit down to the next wrap. with the sharper edge of the staple, the wrap placement has to be just that little more precise. my thought :)

I only said staple first because I shot it if the gate with a framed staple and it was a hot mess! Hah stapled I pulled off Jay fine. Framed staple is my next build to try again!

i'll get the ribbon cores situated first with a ribbon wrap right at the swivel, and then add the frame around. then it just matter of stroking back to the loose ends adding ribbon wraps as i go.

So I did a little searching and found 1:1 clones on DHGATE. They're only $10.57, but there's a minimum quantity of 10 pieces. And they're sold out.
I just looked at every listing for aeronaut on DHGATE and found no 1:1...
There are a few noticeable differences...unlike the clone the authentic barrel has no removable drip-tip adapter, it is one solid piece of stainless. The authentic deck uses a plate on each post secured by two hex bolts with a wide space between the bolts, where the clone uses two Phillips bolts on each post, no plates, and has a portion of the post separating the two bolts...which limits the girth of the coil being installed. The authentic's positive pin is flat where it connects, and is secured and tightened from the bottom of the juice well using a bolt identical to those used on top of the posts, where the clones connection employs a flat head groove where it connects. Most clones in circulation do not have removable airflow tubes, eternally secured to both the barrel and deck, however as of late, there have been quite a few clones with removable tubes much like the authentic. The authentic comes with 4 total tubes, a closed tube for both the top and bottom, as well as the 2 pre-installed open airflow tubes, bottom having a large hole directed upwards and the top having a series of slots cut into the tube pointed downwards. The bottom airflow is adjustable by twisting the barrel while the top is static short of switching the open for the closed tube. I usually have it wide open with no lack of airflow or flavor.
Have they made a 1:1 goon clone yet?

ya 10 is the min order. but hey; at least you can order a mix of the brass, copper or s/s models. they'll even though in a free battery case to protect your cells, so that you don't blow your face off, lol.

The authentic Aeronaut is great for flavour but it gets real hot with high wattage, someone should make an isolating cover for the driptip. Also if you take the top tube out and replace it with the blank it gets even hotter still so you have to have the top airflow in or build not so hot a setup. Ha ha I am making it sound poop but it is a great RDA. I do overfill it though because you feel like you have a massive dripwell it makes you a bit juice happy :D

So I've been wanting to make a framed corrugated coil variation for the longest ... Anyone have a tip on how to get the ribbon wire waved the same way down the whole wire ?

You can use a homemade press with teeth our bend with pliers after you straighten the ribbon....
Buy some fasteners with the design and press the ribbon from both sides with them.

Don't bother with staggered. They're a PITA to make, and don't vape worth shit.
The standard staggered Clapton i made using 24n80 and 32kA1 I had sub par vapor production and nearly non-existent flavor. All but one of every other staggered variation I made had some of the best vapor production and flavor I've experienced. It takes practice and trial and error with different Clapton gauges but I couldn't be happier with the wick and vent properties of many of the staggered variations. The staggered framed staple was disappointing after all the hype but still performed quite well. Using 32awg as the stagger and Clapton brought out more flavor on this particular build. I would recommend 36awg or smaller for any other stagger build, just from my experience. My fiancé is now a flavor snob, and raymo was right...I never should have given her the best to start out with. If a new build isn't as good as the last she has me switch them back out. Her standing favorite and what she currently has mounted in her aeronaut in her fuchai is a staggered variation a came up with a couple months ago. 28kA1 frames staggered in 36n80...dual cores consisting of 4x32n80twisted and then claptoned in .5kA1...all claptoned together with 36n80...
For me in terms of flavor it's a toss up between that build and the last build I posted.

I'm just curious how close to 1:1 the clone is. If that clone crazy chef just posted was available when I was purchasing mine, I would've gotten the clone. I have respect for the designers for certain, but my pockets are not deep. Like my mech mod, I'm not spending $130 for a copper tube.

Well that's why Im trying to figure out staggered Clapton. Simply for all the variations you can do. There's only so much for me to do with regular fused claptons, aliens, staples... I need to expand my skills so I can venture out more. I love building, but like I said, I can't just keep making the standards :(

Of the few that I've had, they really don't seem to me to be anything more than a glorified parallel build. They're far inferior to a fused Clapton as far as flavor is concerned. The only asset that I can ascertain is that they wick high VG juice better than most other builds.

Edit: They're also good for many types of coil porn.

I want to learn to stagger so I can stagger a few different things together... Not regular staggered fused Clapton...
