Let me know how it goes! How are you staggering your clapton? Ive been using the Spool tamer method with a high success rate.Cool. I'll try a larger gauge next time. Thanks Ray.
Same here. But they tend to make good coilporn, so I figured I might as well get in the game.I hate staggered coils.
Exactly. I really just need to get me another atomizer. I only have one so I get stuck with the one that I make. Maybe another goon or some of the local rdas we have here.Same here. But they tend to make good coilporn, so I figured I might as well get in the game.
....while my hands are crazy swollen from trying to braid from the next coilwars challenge
Lol Not that type of swelling...Im having a flare up and my hands are the size of balloons bro...Even typing and holding a mod tightly is difficult right nowGet a pair of those cheap dollar store gloves. It will save you the blisters, etc from braiding.
The Double Stuff is one of the hardest SSFC's there is, it looks simple and easy enough but Ive only made it once and a single coil was all I managed..dont be discouraged! You need to pinch it every 4-6 wraps!I freehanded the initial Clapton. Looks like I need to be a little more evenly spaced than this.

Good to see you around again chef. Didn't see you post here for some time.
We are all over skeptical of our builds, One skip isnt a real problem, you could always use some sharp cutters and remove the wrap on the 2 center wraps...thats how some people compensate their wrap issues and it adds to the overall lookLooks like crap, but thanks.
When you said you wrapped them slowly, like fiskars drill slow?Looks good Chef! Fusing the staggered builds is time consuming but while your doing it your almost in a Zen Like State...I actually enjoy it, it takes your mind off other things that may be bothering you and the feeling of accomplishment is there once your finished.
Yes, but look at the spacing of the Clapton frames. It's all over the place in varying widths. One skip isnt a real problem,
Not sure if it will help but what I do to space mine is cut maybe an 2 or 3 inches of the gauge that I want to use as a space. I so a couple of free spacing, put that in between the gaps like the loop then tug a bit down just to make sure they're not slanted. I then pin them down using a clothes pin. I fairly get more consistent spacingYes, but look at the spacing of the Clapton frames. It's all over the place in varying widths.
I'll get it, but I don't think I'll be doing this particular build again anytime soon. Way too time consuming.
@raymo2u
Do you have any hints/techniques for coiling corrugated ribbon wire?
My first attempt came out, um... Let's just say it was less than acceptable.
The biggest problem for Corrugated Ribbon is the geat teeth size need to be small, if your crimping is long and wide then it will warp and fold when wrapping it. 2nd, you want a thin ribbon like .3 and .4 for Corrugated builds, .5+ will warp from its tension strength. You want it tight enough so it doesnt have room to move at all under pressure but not so tight that you deform the design..@raymo2u

It is beast with clouds and the flavor is awesome!

That's the only bit that matters. How it gets to that point isn't really that important, a beast is a beast With longer coils its further from the outside of the coil to the middle for wicking so personally I prefer to keep them in the 5-7 wraps range and as big a i.d. of coil that will fit in the deck so that the coils will stay fed even if I chain vape.
Aww... Thanks, Dawn!Yayyyy welcome back I missed you!!!!
Ain't that the truth!Today I had some time to build for fun, which I love...Im not really a fan of deadlines and being told what to make and this is the time I feel more creative and have better outcomes
Its a bit low at .08 but in other RDA's you could fit 5 wraps and get it up to .1. CottonCandy Cotton just sent me a sample of their cotton to try, I have that Framed Staple wicked but I think Im going to take it out and wash it then try for more colors....then wick it againAin't that the truth!
Dude, I LOVE that ribbon wrapped framed staple! What's resistance? Ima hafta try one.
You can actually get some great color with Kanthal...Ive been getting more color with Kanthal and KJanthal D then N80 when I try...It just takes alot of heat and for longer durations. I start pulsing at 100w for 1-3 seconds (only start counting when its glowing bright), then I jump to 120w and repeat, then repeat up to 150w.I haven't bought from Temco in a while. I didn't even know they had ribbon. If I try it, I'll use N80 ribbon for the binding so I can get some color on it. Maybe use 10x0.3mm cores. But now that I have the HΩ Wrecker I can build pretty low - safely.
As much fun as it can be to build coil porn, sometimes I just like to build for substance. So I tried a double fused Clapton.
2x26K cores, with a double wrapping of 34N outer.
The quality of the vape is spectacular, but it leaves a bit to be desired in the ramp up. It's a keeper though, and next time I make one it'll be with SS316L and using higher gauge wire.
