Having trouble posting from my phone, but my personal favorite after probably 300+ coils in about 30 tanks and 20 or so RDAS is a fairly simple setup.

This pic is after about 80 ml of juice through this wick and coil. Just a little black coating that wiped right off using isopropyl on a paper towel.

24 gauge, 7 full wraps, dual coil Grade 1 Titanium in a billow v2. Wick with Koh Gen Do. Set on my Snow Wolf anywhere from 300 to 350 f at anything up 70 watts and let her rip.

Taste is shockingly good and totally clean with no detectable coloring like with nichrome or kanthal a1. Vapor volume is off the hook big and never a dry hit, not even a hint of dry hit. Can take the tank off and hold the fire button down till it cuts out to 0.0 watts and not even a hint of cotton scorching.

Six wraps, 24 gauge KA1, 3mm diameter. 0.27 ohms. Same thing works wonders in the Derringer.
Thanks!!!

This is my second build. Dual parallel, 26g A1, 5 wraps at 3mm. In a Mutation X v4, sitting on a Sir Lancelot mech with efest 35a 2800. Wicking with Japanese cotton. Comes in at .16 ohms.

With the air closed up the flavor is very good. Open, the cloulds are about what you would expect. I'm happy with it.

Finally.... a working Clapton!
I've got two 26g's twisted with another 26g wrapped around them. 5 wraps around a 3mm screwdriver comes in at .4Ω

Here we go - first Clapton that matters (subox RBA one doesn't count cuz it wasn't good)

7163fb81ac4dc1e19d86501547b062ed.jpg

Not exactly perfection but a decent first attempt imo.
Flavor and vapor production are like nothing I've ever experienced before.
26g wrapped around 3x26g using the lil blue screwdriver reading at .3Ω vapin around 40ish watts

Edit: Prollie worth mentioning the fact that I literally had to force the wires through the holes - they fit, just took a lot of work. Next time I'm going to wrap a 26g around two 26g's instead of three

You mean 6 wraps ofcourse
Not bad my friend I still struggle a little myself

This may perhaps be helpful to some who've had trouble w/ claptons. I would also pay attention to the wire gauges, they matter immensely when it comes to resulting performance. Cheers!!

Yeah that one failed after only a day of usage..... I didn't want to consider it a 'working' Clapton for that reason. My current one on the other hand had been working beautifully for nearly two days now [:=
Also, I'll definitely be trying out that little trick with the fishing swivel as it'll provide the tension and stability required to evenly wrap the outside wire. As for gauges, I haven't managed to get anything other than 26g at my local B&M shops but there's one not far from me which has a variety of different ones. I'll be prollie picking up some 24, 28, and 32 when I get paid this Thursday

So with temp control, I always thought more wraps equals better regulation. I just did this build. 3 mm, 6 wraps each coil, 28 tempered nickel. Best temp controlled vape yet. Usually I don't clean the wire, but decided to after reading about nickel and titanium being oily making the vape taste weird. Then I usually do double or triple the amount of wraps. I think cleaning the wire and vastly reducing the wraps made this an awesome vape.

Decided to do something a bit.... yeah...

20150820_162006_resized (1).jpg

So it's
2mm ID 5 wrap
24 Gauge core CP 1 Ti
32 Gauge wrapped CP 1 Ti

Comes in at .08 ohms, with NO room to spare between the coil and chimney, its like a fraction of a mm away from touching on each side.

Temp oddities corrected by locking in resistance once FULLY cooled.

I had a Fused Clapton using 2 strands of 26 core and 32 wrapping... works but makes temp control too far off to be useful.

On a side note, the Goliath V2 is a absolute monster for it's ability to wick. Even set at 240f (really like 450f at the coil) and 70 watts, I have to keep the juice control at less than 1/2 open or it will spit/flood/be nasty. Seriously impressive tank!

2mm ID 5 wrap
24 Gauge core CP 1 Ti
32 Gauge wrapped CP 1 Ti

Comes in at .10 ohms, with NO room to spare between the coil and chimney, its like a fraction of a mm away from touching on each side.

One odd thing about temp control and complex Ti coils, there is something going on that changes the way the TC functions. To actually use TC I had to lower the temp by another 70f from where I had already compensated for using Ti instead of Ni 200. So setting it to 240f and 70 watts is quite literally dripper sized clouds, massive, and provides a seriously thick and flavorful vape.

With such great success doing ti/ti claptons in my Goliath I decided to do a Fused Clapton in the dripper.

Swav atty.
2x26ga CP1 Ti cores
30ga CP1 Ti wrapping
2mm mandrel
0.05 ohms

Newest experiment:

20150821_142137-1.jpg

7 wraps on a 2.5 mm mandrel with 4 strands of 32 gauge Ti 1 twisted using a drill until just before the wire starts distorting. Came in at 0.18 ohms.

Absolutely phenomenal vape. Very rapid heat up response, good cloud size and taste.

Im betting in order to keep the wicks wet it has to be swimming in the juice though. bet it leaks because of this.

Has anyone here got/tryed goblin mini?
I have one. It's my daily tank since I've gotten it. Better flavor and airflow then the lemo 2. Pretty easy to build and works great in tc

After playing with kanthal builds a simple .5 dual coil @ 32-40 watts was nice. Almost dripper like. I think it's a nice upgrade.

No it works you just need to not cut the wicks as Short. Best way I could describe it is have the wicks in the channels as apposed to on top just resting.

Kay I run that same build on one of my RDAs (well almost)
If you want to go a little lower to .2 use a 2.5 mm screwdriver/rod.
Or drop off 2 coils each side will do the same. Hope this helps.

3 wrap vertebraid on my new Snow Wolf 1.5. My gf is learning to build and braided the wire last night. I think it came out great, it's very flavorful and put off a lot of vapor.

Dual macro vertebraid, 30ga A1, 3mm ID, .24ohms

Simple build

20g kanthal 6 wrap dual parallel on 3mm id @ .10 ohms

I haven't gotten to the advanced builds because I enjoy the simple ones and the production is great in my opinion :)
