Amber was an amazing vu member and all around person. She will be missed. I remember chatting with her about getting started on diy juice. She was so excited and eager to learn. She was generally one of the first people to welcome new members.

Hey Steve did you get the truck fixed?

So I go to the market for a fresh loaf of French Bread to go with dinner and the Freaking Service Soon Light came on again~! Checked and cleared the code and same shit ,P0135~! Still waiting for UPS to get around to delivering. That is why I planned to do it tomorrow anyway. Doing the Drive Cycle will take longer than replacing both sensors I did not do last time.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of truck is it?

2001 Chevrolet Blazer LT
Ahhh. My husband has a F350 Turbo Diesel so now I get excited when I meet others with old body style / diesel trucks. The blazer sounds like my kind of drive. I've had a few SUVs before and I miss them both even though they always gave me issues. I hope that you have good luck with your repair!

So when I go out work on my truck FedEx pulls up and it was the parts I ordered for the Washing Machine yesterday afternoon~! Cool I picked 1-8 Day Shipping and get it overnight?? Works for me. So I changed the O2 Sensors on both Banks 1&2 and did a drive cycle test. Still have 2 readiness monitors I have to get ready so doing the cool down and will drive it again from a cold start~!

So after I had lunch I repaired the Washing Machine which was a pretty easy job replacing the Dampening Straps. Cleaned inside where you can't see since I had the machine apart and greased up the hanger busings because they were making a noise. Is it wine time yet?

So waiting until the morning traffic is gone before I go do a Drive Cycle to get the Readiness Monitors Active. Took me less than half an hour to change the O2 Sensors yesterday and didn't even jack up the truck to do them. Between the Low Speed Limits and Needing to decelerate without hitting the brakes from 5 minutes of 55 to 20 MPH it is so hard these days.

So back to Auto Mechanic again this morning. Fixed the O2 Sensor Code but when the Drive Cycle was almost Complete I got the Freaking P0440 Code for the Evap System again. Instead of doing a long involved Diagnosis I decided to go right to the Canister Solenoid to check for broken lines and such. Removed the Solenoid and although it is normally in an open state I tested the Solenoid which was working but the spring looks messed up inside. Energized the Solenoid and sure enough it doesn't close. Found the Cheapest is an A/C Delco so waiting for a confirmation email to go pick it up~!

A lot of times that code is also caused by a bad or loose gas cap.

The Canister vent is not working so that is the problem 100%. I physically Tested the valve off the vehicle. Plus you can see that it is broken inside.

So after not getting the right part and not noticing until I went to install it had to run back to the Parts Store. Truck is all fixed but I have to complete the Driver Cycle which I couldn't because of heavy traffic on the freaking LIE. Going to do it in the morning after coffer.

So a friend wanted me to use my DOD Software to wipe a HDD on an old PC which turned out to have an ATI Radeon Video card in it. Guess what I did instead of relaxing? Got tired of a problem with the one n this machine giving me a blue hue on the screen. Nice now.

Ha, yea readiness monitors suuuckk. While working at the shop I was lucky enough to have a highway nearby and other roads I could take advantage of. A few of them were like that, drive xyz mph, hold, decelerate to 55mph, hold, back off for 5min to 20mph without hitting the brakes. Cops didn't find it funny when on the highway I saw things slowing ahead at my usual uphill offramp so slowed early. Rather than impede traffic I drifted to the shoulder and coasted. Get pulled over, "what are you doing?". With a straight face, scanner connected and wearing my shop uniform - "Setting readiness monitors". Lmfao. Cop looked at me like 'are you for fucking real??'. Like you can't drive on the shoulder. Well I can't very well cruise at 25-20mph in a 65mph and risk an accident. He's like you can't drive 20 on the highway. I asked 'can I drive 55 in the neighborhoods?'. Something's gotta give, 55 to 20 chief. Haha.

Been having my own fun with an 01 silverado. Have a knocking/clunk I still haven't found the source of. Intermediate steering shaft has a tiny bit of play but not feeling it in the steering wheel. Checked hubs, ball joints and all, nothing there. Almost felt like a bad ball joint. Still need to climb under and check the torsion bar mounts or body mounts.

Flushed the coolant, that was a process without a flush machine. Didn't want to use the hose, the water here is ridiculously hard. Thought I'd back flush with an external pump. Turns out this one still had the oe style water pump with integrated thermostat. No dice, couldn't just pull it and remount the housing. So ended up running chemical and draining, adding distilled water and draining. Around 12gal of water. Instead of cutting the heater hose and putting a tee in it, pulled the outlet off and used a 3/4" id piece of tubing attached to the external pump in a 5gal bucket of distilled water. Removed the inlet hose from the water pump and aimed it at a pan, back flushed it that way.

Get everything done, new thermostat, removed the surge tank and cleaned it best I could, refilled it. Fuckin low coolant light on. Tapped the surge tank to unstick the float, no dice. Went out today, coolant light's off. Whatever. Speaking of what motor is on your Blazer? Got the 5.3L in mine, kind of a weird thing or maybe not. Lower rad hose doesn't get very warm and takes forever to heat up. No other issues, heater blows hot, both heater hoses hot, upper rad hose hot. I ran water through the heater core so know it's flowing. Put water in the top of the radiator, drained it out the lower hose so that's not clogged. When I squeeze the upper or lower rad hose the surge tank coolant moves. When I rev the engine the lower rad hose stiffens up so I know I'm getting flow/pressure through the radiator. Temp never reaches dead center which I think is 210F, which is right for a 196F thermostat. Doesn't seem to be overheating. Just weird that the lower hose is so much cooler. Wasn't sure if yours was the same way.

Tackled the oxidized headlights, that was a joy. Yellowed as they were I thought well I'm not spending all day with 600 grit sand paper. Started with like 220 or 320. Ended up etching scratches in them, so several runs through 600, 1200, 2000. To the point my fingers started bleeding. I think some fixes just require a blood sacrifice lol. Finished them up with a buffing pad on the drill, some colgate, cleaned, followed with mother's aluminum mag polish. Can actually see the bulbs through them now and the headlights are white instead of yellow. Has to be better than it was. Still need to apply a coat of uv protectant to them. If it's not raining tomorrow I'll tackle the rearview mirror and give the windshield a good cleaning. If the versachem kit doesn't work I have some 2 part clear epoxy. One way or another that mirror's going back up. The door lights, map lights and license plate lights got new led bulbs, no more flickering. Now the cabin light's started flickering. I swear it taunts me.

If you're ever in the market for an inexpensive pump that one I got off Amazon works pretty damn good surprisingly. Vivosun 800gph, it's not 800gph I don't think under any circumstance. But it's fairly quiet, comes with 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 nipples. They're barbed but need hose clamps, the sizes are metric and a tiny bit undersized. Doesn't come with the hose. Paid like $22 for it or something. I put 2.5-3gal of water through the heater core in a minute or so if that using 10ft 3/4 tubing. Just put it in a 5gal bucket and ran it.

The Engine is a 4.3 Vortec. Having coffee and a buddy is meeting me here at 7AM to come along on the Drive Cycle. Going to hit Walmart City out East so will give it a good long ride.
