I once did a side job for a lady in the mountains. I tried to get a custom mix and it turned out too purple. I ended up having to pay for that mistake myself. Wish I had found the one you used... that was what she wanted. I used to be a painter and one thing I learned is to be careful choosing colors... the light in the store, in a home (including artificial lights and/or window light) makes the colors look different. I was also a serious (but not professional) photographer. Took a close up of some flowers (white) and they looked pink. Turned out I was wearing a red shirt and the reflected light affected the photo.

I went with the same that was used previously which I thought was mixed with something that didn't go with it. turns out it probably just need a good mixing but it was old. I used the power mixer and the instructions say to mix it as you use it~! sure as shit it needed it as the color drops out.

Thanks to you all~!

Like Vape On said proper prep is what determines the finish. I was sanding for longer than it took to apply the stain. But redwood stain takes a certain touch it isn't like applying a conventional stain. When you apply it you have to go over it multiple times to get an even coat. Also you can't apply it too heavy.

Did my lawn work for the day and didn't have enough coffee or I made extra this morning?? So I showered off and made a Jamaican Coffee to have on the back patio on the newly finished table~! I usually use a table cloth but it looks so good it is a shame to cover it up~!

Hey @SteveS45 here's my today's harvest
P1460322.JPG

I felt like beets tonight so pulled some small ones, cukes are starting to come on, I'll pick more tomorrow, the tomato is a ten fingers of Naples and supposed to ripen in 76 days but it came before my early girl tomato that is supposed to take 55 days. Below are some onions that didn't do so well but will still be very much appreciated.

Did you use a brush or roller mostly? Obviously, there will parts that need a brush but I really like the little 3 inch rollers. My front deck (5000 ft elevation) gets a beating from shoveling snow so I didn't go for perfection. For furniture, I would have done more prep.
Now I'm back down in the city with triple digit temps... only snow is in my dreams.

So we have a "swamp" cooler (evaporative) and an AC. We try to use the cooler as much as possible, then switch to AC later in the day (just did... thank god) I serviced the cooler on Monday (oiled bearings, tightened belt and totally flushed it out with fresh water) Anyway, if any of you have an evap cooler shoot me a PM (I am a total ace with those... been doing it for years)

I had this dream last night...
It was somewhere by the ocean and there were these "people" gathering by a cliff (I was the only one nearby watching) It was total "fantasy" dream... they were like "fairies" and had light skin and white hair. I could see other people down below the cliff watching. Then all the fairies ran off the cliff! There was this strong breeze coming up with cliff... they all floated in the air like they were flying, hair blowing in the breeze. It was magical. They continued to float in the air as people below watched (I guess they see this all the time) I later found out they call them "snow people" or something (you know dreams... not sure if that was what they said) They said the fairies never fall. Maybe I just miss the ocean (and the mountains) or maybe I need to cut back on the drinking? At least it was a beautiful dream (unlike my "night terrors" with sci-fi flying insects/spiders... don't want to talk about that)

I am waiting to cut the lawns because after taking Mom for a Haircut and getting all mine cut it was too hot to do yesterday. So I setup the Hammock which finally arrived and had to move the clothes dryer a few feet to the left.

Whew, dump run and yard mowing done! Such a struggle. It’s only been a week since I mowed but with all the rain, sun, and humidity it was early a jungle. It was still wet too so my mower choked out so many times I gave up on counting.

It's too damn hot out there to mow. The heat index here right now is somewhere in the neighborhood of 130 degrees. Even hubbs isn't taking it on, after I threw a fit at him the other day. He wants to pretend he's still 35 years old, but I've got news....I told him he was acting like a crazy man, getting outside in the hottest part of the day to do yard work. He just turned 69 years old, and I don't want to have to call the EMTs to come get him up out of the yard where he's fallen out with a heart attack or heatstroke. Stubborn! Men are so freakin STUBBORN!!!

I can promise you, if that grass grew ass high, I would not get out there and mow it now.

ETA: Y'all please pardon me today. I woke up on the asshole side of the bed this morning. I've been fussing about one thing or another all day. And get this (it didn't help matters at all) - I had a 2:15 appointment at Walgreens to get my second Moderna booster. Got myself ready, hubbs put my chair in the trunk of the car, and off we go. Park, get the chair out, 130 heat index outside, here we go and he's pushing me into Walgreens. When the clerk at the front register sees us, he asks if we're headed for the Pharmacy, because it is closed since they didn't have a pharmacist to work today. We're like, well, what about Covid booster appointments? He calls somebody on his little headset thingy and comes back with, I'm sorry but there's nothing they can do. Please call the Pharmacy on Monday and talk it over with them.

Now I know it was not his fault, so I didn't lay into him at all, but my god, surely I was not the only person to have a vaccine appointment today. And what about all the old and/or disabled and/or SICK people who have to move heaven and earth to get to town to pick up meds? For Pete's sake. I guess there's a lot I take for granted, and the freakin Pharmacy being open when they say it will is one of those things.
