Rayon is

But that is just my opinion

Many people like it, I found it to add a weird taste to juice.

But I will say... any cotton you get... use it long enough, you go taste blind to whatever off putting notes it may have.

I haven’t bought a vape specific cotton for a while now... last stuff was some Japanese cotton rope from Amazon

Have nothing bad to say about it. Super cheap.

Cheap organic Japanese cotton (Muji):

5 Pack
30 Pack
50 Pack
135 Pack

Granted coming from FastTech takes a bit. They once had 180 count packs. Bought one, have given a bunch away. Bought it like two to three years ago. Still got plenty.

Start getting low, order the biggest pack from FastTech and it'll come in time. Still nearly the same cost as Amazon though, until you pay for an E-packet to ship it to you in.

Would wager though Amazon is getting it from the same supplier as FastTech. They just got a better drop shipping logistics going on. Oh, that's called USPS, huh?

Broad as long, I reckon. Said differently, same difference.

Today, I refilled a few squonk mods. I vaped some, still vaping a bit now and then as time goes on.

I actually have the opposite effect. All the cotton I have used, which was quite a few types before I found rayon, always tastes like wet t-shirt to me. We are all different though.

You guys really should try the hybrid method. I want to say "my" hybrid method, but I can't believe I'd be the first one to think of this. I also haven't seen it anywhere else though either.

This is one version. A rayon core outlined in red, wrapped in a puffs Scottish roll. There's many ways to do this.
20210117_113337_cr.jpg

Always make the core shorter than the wrap. If not the cores will pull out of the wrap. When you have it rolled up the core ends at about where the lines are. Then just trim and tuck as usual.

Like I alays say. It won't revolutionize your vape, but it's pretty easy and gets you the strong points of both materials. You can have either on the outside and experiment with ratios of one to the other too.

I need to try this. I understand what the rayon brings to the table. Does the cotton wrap act like a reservoir for the juice that the rayon wicks up?

Cotton expands and holds more liquid by volume and rayon absorbs and moves liquid far more quickly. In the example above you'd get the cotton taste, because it's on the outside. If you prefer the taste of rayon, then put that on the outside.

So yes. Pretty much what you said :)

You can combine it 50/50/ 70/30 etc. whatever works best for you.

You can also pull them both flat and roll them together in a unified swirl.

Like I say. There's many ways to do it.

Actually, now that I think of it. @BobsHere gave me the original idea when I was struggling with the Profile RDA.

This is the kind I got:
https://www.muji.us/store/cut-cotton-ecru-180-pcs-4549337318885.html

From you're description it looks like I ordered the same as you. I thought for a second that maybe I got the wrong stuff because I saw these:
https://www.muji.us/store/cut-cotton-165-pcs-4549337318908.html

They just look like a different size pad is all. I paid for ground shipping but they sent it via FedEx. It's already at the local FedEx place but the tracking says not until Tuesday. They will hold onto it for a day to be consistent. In all my time watching FedEx tracking, they've never once delivered my package early. I don't know why but they always deliver on the estimated date. They held my stuff (at my local delivery point) for up to three days before actually dropping it off.
Yea that's the stuff. Good price on it for sure. And if that doesn't work, looks like you might have to give the next option a try, 'women organic cotton mix mid panty'. lol. (Sorry, just showed as other items in the bottom scroller). And yea I've noticed that with fedex too, they're afraid of delivering early it seems. Like nope we estimated this date and you're not getting it a damn day sooner.

Well I just went through all kinds of contortions to place another FT order. Did you guys know you can't even use a credit card to buy vape gear on there? It isn't just PP that's restricted.

I moved $35 to a prepaid card account, then used that card number to buy $35 worth of gift certificates on FT. Then I paid for my purchase with the gift certificates.

Now let's see if it actually makes it here.

I got three drip tips, another Timekeeper mech tube, and a Reload S clone RDA, with 8% off with a coupon code. The 8% off very nearly paid for the extra-charge shipping I've used the last few times.

Strange. It must be something new or certain cards. I paid with a debit card a few days ago.

Maybe I did something wrong, then. I did see afterwards that it says to use "Secure Checkout" if you have gift cards to apply, but I've always used "Secure Checkout." When I got to that page, there was a big padlock icon next to the credit card icons, and clicking on them didn't do anything.

Maybe I should have clicked on a credit card icon on the page before? Not sure I'd want to, though, to check out in an insecure way, even with a prepaid card.

I got around to trying one of the staggered fused claptons I made tonight.
20210117_194923.jpg
I put one in an Elder Dragon and that thing is just exploding with flavor. In between the spaces, juice just pools up from the cotton. I haven't used stainless in a while and I never use 24ga anymore. This build is changing my mind about that though.

You click the checkout button. Pick your shipping, and on the next page:

Select the black button: debit/credit.

That's what I've been doing. Once you select that, it takes a second. Something opens up below where you type in your card info.

So the debit/credit card button wasn't there for you either? Maybe it just shows up on mobile or something.. I do most of my online shopping with my phone.

No debit/credit card option.
When I clicked on Check Out I got a message saying something like, "some of the items in your cart are no allowed by PayPal" then instructions about purchasing a gift card then using the gift card to pay for the items.

You know what I mean :)

The taste that each material provides :)
Yeah, Cotton Bacon 2.0 provides no taste of its own if you just learn how to use it correctly, and start off by accepting that these types of things can be learned similar to how coil building for flavor can also either be learned or refused to be learned. That's right... refusal to learn from true experience is not as uncommon as some would have you believe. Remember that every experienced vaper used to be a noob once. I'm only saying this because some people tend to forget, or tend to forget more than others. Comfort zones = the ability to get stuck in persistent fake beliefs. Old myths.

Rayon throws the flavor noticeably off balance no matter what I try to do with it. The only useful purpose of rayon that I can think of is to stuff it in the inside lining of my jacket so that I don't freeze my ass off so fast. Other than that, it's just another one of those fluffly wastes of time. Same as the Scottish roll. It doesn't hold more juice.

And before anyone should ask, no, the speed at which the material moves the juice when you vape on it can not be measured in any way by watching the dry material get soaked. A much, MUCH better indication of juice flow speed is to start off by accepting the logical fact that the vape will have a burned undertaste if the flow speed gets bottlenecked for the power level that you already know is not too high for what coils you use, and also accepting the logical fact that the reason why you already know that it isn't too high for that is simply because it didn't taste burned the first time after you got it right. Plain and simple.

That said, if you can not prevent it from tasting burned unless you space the wraps of your coils. Then try choosing a better complex coil type and/or using thinner core wires and/or switch metal type to Ni80 and/or shorten the coil length and/or increase the coil diameter. If all this fails to solve your problem, either you don't know how to properly wick it up or you still don't understand the basics of how airflow characteristics and coil positioning go hand in hand, not just with each other, but also with BOTH the wicking job AND the coil specs. (The omptimal power level, or range also is part of the coil specs─even though there's still a good amount of wiggle room involved with that particular part of coil specs, and even though that is getting affected by other variables too.)

The flavor in my Profile with rayon was really strong, but I tasted the weirdness too. I don't know if it was bleach or what. Something was just a bit off. Flavor really popped though. I'll revisit again. I don't remember but I think I wore gloves while handling it.

After mixing up another batch of juice, it was time to place an order for flavor concentrates and nicotine. The nicotine will last me for about 3 to 4 years. The flavors might last me about 6 to 8 months. But then, I only spent about $92 on that order, and I got 3 adults vaping my juice every day... including myself.

I misplaced my battery stash but found it. I need to rotate some batteries out and get started using these ones.
20210119_113050.jpg
10x OEM or whatever Molicell was before p24a
6x 40T
6x 30T
6x P42A
6x LG H.. I forget and just call em chocolates.

I use batteries for a long time. I don't keep track but some 18650 married sets must be almost 3 years old. The 21700s mainly get used as singles. I only have a couple married sets of those. These new ones don't need to sit around any longer. I've had most of them for a while.

I basically had to do the same for a 2fdeal order. Not a biggie.
I used PP to buy the 'gift certificate', and they take it from there. No mention of vape anywhere.

Just ordered a Wismec Predator with Elabo tank kit for cheap, then decided I'd check the battery level on those new Molicel 18650s I'd bought and put in my Classique wood mech w/ a 0.58 ohm dual-coil Vapeporn VICE rda build.

From this thread: https://vapingunderground.com/threads/the-official-vape-mail-thread-2.504622/page-178#post-2971980

Haven't used it exclusively...but quite a bit. They are still at 3.93v. That is better than even my HG2 brownies can do.
Da Heck are these things made of ?!? :hearts:

Big vape day for me. Looked at the bottles of new recipes mixed and gave them a shake. Vaped a few drops off each to see how they're doing. Like watching paint dry. lol. Surprised that recipe for the old fashioned is as enjoyable as it is given the citrus in it. Usually I can't handle a lot of citrus, irritates my throat. Between the orange, fizzy sherbet and lemon lime weighing in at 5% combined.

I really like cocktail e-liquids. I'm not a drinker any more, but I sure enjoy a tank of Sloe Gin Fizz or Ginger Rogers eliquid. I have found though that some of the alcohol flavorings do fade a bit, so in the recipes I have developed, I go a little overboard with the booze in the beginning. (FA Brandy is kinda wimpy and VTA Botanical Gin will fade some after a couple of weeks.)

Years ago Madvapes had an eliquid called "Grandpa's Mix" that I absolutely loved. Back then I could never pinpoint what the flavors were in it, but eventually came to realize that the defining flavor in it was juniper and some citrus with a little bit of berry. That's what led me to try mixing with gin - I was trying to replicate that flavor. Haven't conquered that one yet, haven't been able to get the gin to hold up well enough. I am probably masking it with too many other flavors.

Yea I'm not a big drinker. The few times I was I shouldn't have been lol. Let's just say my first real go with jack daniels it was a company work trip with the boss and a fellow mechanic. And it was halloween so the bars were all having big parties out of town where we went. Stayed in a cabin by the lake and I'm just damn lucky I didn't wander down the boat ramp at like 2-3am and fall IN the lake. Rookies shouldn't try to keep up with whiskey jedi masters pound for pound. Haha.

Never really drink at home by myself only socially but if I do I prefer the taste of a cocktail over beer. Here's the recipe I found from 'automatic failure' at ATF. The notes said it was pretty versatile to shift things around to tweak the strength of stuff, just mixed as is to see how it was. Also mentioned for a 60%vg mix, mixed mine 80%vg for direct lung but may do better thinned out some with a little more throat hit from the higher pg in a mtl situation. Even as is feels a bit heavy for direct lung, at least for chain vaping.

FA Brandy 4%
FW Orange 3% (I couldn't find plain orange, ended up using fw blood orange)
VT Fizzy Sherbet 1%
CAP Lemon Lime 1%
FW Maraschino Cherry 1%
CAP Super Sweet 0.75%
FLV Back Bar Bitters 0.25%

Called WizardLabs today over my order missing that 4oz bottle of flavoring. Had sent them an email through their contact form on the site letting them know back on last wednesday when it arrived. Heard nothing back, then it was the weekend and a holiday monday, nothing tues so called them. Some gal answered the phone so at least I didn't have to play phone tag with an automated system. Asked for photos so sent a handful of them direct to their CS email. Along with photos of the invoice that packed with the shipment showing the quantity discrepancy so hopefully that's sorted out.

Lmao, that's what I thought too. Actually it was easy enough since they sent all the flavoring inside a plastic bag they'd heat sealed all the way around. No ziplock so it wasn't as if I could've popped it open and removed one. With the sealed package I showed it front, back and from the bottom. There were several bottles in it, mostly smaller ones. Only a couple larger bottles and quite clearly only one large 4oz bottle with yellow flavoring in it (la banana cream original). The bag was full so there wasn't even room for a second one. Clearly one was missing. Also sent them a pic of the invoice/packing slip that showed a qty of (2). That's rarely the case though usually the bags are open ended and just taped or ziplock style.

So the good news, the quick email of photos of the missing flavoring and Wizard responded with an apology and sending out the missing flavoring right away.

Got suckered into another purchase with sites talking about hardware and things becoming harder to come by and increased taxes and higher shipping. Ordered a gunmetal aromamizer supreme v3 along with a couple spare glass. Efun.top's got a good price on them, $46 for the advanced kit with an automatic 8% off I think it was since they're having issues with credit card processing. The 8.50 shipping sucked but eh, everyone's likely got shipping. And the price is roughly what others want for the standard kit, asking $70 plus whatever shipping for the advanced kit.

Tried a couple new flavors in mixes. Usually my adv uses la banana cream, dragonfruit and strawberry so gave wf banana puree a try to see if it tweaked it a little better. First off, yowza. Much stronger than the la banana cream. La bc in the recipe is 5%, I went a bit lower with 4%. Still tasted like flavor concentrate in a 30ml bottle so doubled the recipe and cut the banana puree in half. Much better around 2%. Still not a great addition/replacement for my adv but not a bad banana.

Gave loranns county fair cotton candy a try. Eh. A swing and a miss. Not horrid like some I've tried but no idea where they're getting 'cotton candy' from. Maybe they meant a light coconut cream? lol. Shit tastes like straight up mild coconut fluff at 5%. Kinda had a feeling it would, I can smell the coconut from the bottle. Thought maybe it would dissipate mixed in juice and diluted down but nope. May be good with a little pineapple for like a pina colada? Not cotton candy though.

Thanks as well, I just snagged one for $12 too. I really like that it has dual temps.

My ancient hair dryer, my cat, my neighbors, and my fingers thank you... ;)
I should probably look into one of these at some point. Looks like it's got finer control, better suited to small batteries. I have a heat gun that works perfectly well, hotter than most hair dryers. But it's a full size unit as big or bigger than a cordless drill driver. The nozzle coming off it is around the diameter of a 120ml juice bottle so it's not real selective about where it puts the heat. Battery, wrap, fingers.. lol

I picked up one of these for around $8 when they were on sale. Takes a couple seconds and the battery is all wrapped up. My battery actually gets less warm with this than a hair dryer since it is exposed to the heat for a lot shorter amount of time.

I own one of the cheap sub $12 heat guns for battery wraps... even touch up the factory ones with a quick hit... especially my 18650’s for the BilletBox.

It’s nice to have... but I also used a lighter for years and the wife’s hair dryer... but I will admit, it’s super fast using the above

That's a great deal! I grabbed mine for like $15 and thought that was cheap. Beats the heck out of the hair dryer I used to use. I had to wear gloves it would get so hot before the wrap was to my liking. Not anymore, I love Harbor Freight for cheap tools for small tasks.

Yep pretty much like mine. Mine's a different brand, older model but a fat boy like that. Hotter than hell on high. Similar to a blow dryer except blows at a much slower rate because of it being a heat gun, not a blow dryer meant to rush air across the head and dry hair. Barely have to get the heat on wraps and they shrink right up. Trouble is the swath of heat. Gripping a battery right by the end still tricky to keep fingers out of the way sometimes.

Just got that heat gun in today, WHYYYY didn't I get one years ago???

This:

IMG_20210127_150402.jpg

Did this, in about 20 seconds. No singe, no bubbles, just bloody awesome.
Yeah, I cut out the info bits from the old wrap so I can keep track of the 'ol girls.
That also means it could do dbl-wraps EZ.

IMG_20210127_172127.jpg

Neither fingers nor battery got even barely warm. And that was on the low setting. :D

PS: It's pretty damn quiet too, no sleeping cats were freaked out during this process.
PPS: The cord is impressive, very heavy duty and I'd guess about 6' long.
PPPS: And it didn't trip the old 80s GFCI outlet nor the breaker for the bathroom either..lol...
