WARNING: i am not a designer or cad/cam guy so i might be way off spec here but
Don't seem like it would be to hard to turndown your design then thread/tap the tube and top/bottom. Depending on your design of course. I think I would go with a solid top with a removeable bottom to make threading and tapping alot easier.
