That sucks man.. Could you snap a couple pics when you do the DNA 40 install as well? I've heard that the pin-out (solder points) on the DNA 40 were slightly different than the DNA 30, and its clones

Should it be doing this? No mechanical mod will do this until you make contact with the battery. If it does, no wonder it drains the battery when it's not being used. This is w/o pressing the fire button at all.

The zero arrived today but somewhat mixed news. The threading on 510 is great, no issues there at all and I am happy with that. The screen however is a little skewed. Now, the bad news. It was all going well until It started auto firing. There was no way to stop it other than taking out the battery. It took less then 20 seconds and putting everything back in made it auto fire again. So, third time I removed the atty, put the battery in and it was not auto firing. However, it won't fire at all now and there was a burnt smell coming out of the device. The screen still works but whatever atty you attach it just says check atomizer. I opened it up, nothing visible seems wrong. it smells burnt and there is a little dot, rough under the finger on the small chip. It seems like something got fried in there. I tried different resistance atties, no luck.

Anyway, dna40 arrives tomorrow and will swap them. It was always the plan but I didn't expect that id fry the chip so quick.

Other than this, beautiful device and really well made.

well that's not exactly good .. I can't speak for anyone else but I did recently have an auto fire moment, it was with the Squape R. Before it auto fired I had adjusted the 510 pin and both the Zero and the Squape, then I screwed on the Squape and it auto fired. I unscrewed it and shortened the Squape 510 and it has not happened since.

I am thinking that the Squapes extended pin was putting too much pressure on the 510, and so it was kind of reverse firing, like the opposite of pressing the fire button. I know that the positive contact for the battery is spring loaded, not sure how it mechanically affects the 510 pin, but there has to be some correlation for it to do that right?

Couldn't watch the video, nothing happened when I pressed play. But my Zero does not drain the battery at all while not in use, like my Cloupor Cana does. My battery levels do not change in the least.

Does your zero show battery drain everytime you press the fire button? Mine does this in an extreme matter at times. So when my battery level is about halfway, it sometimes will not fire due to the fact that it drops so low it thinks it is out of battery. Just an issue ive noticed lately.

K. So ... no, it should not be do'n that. You should check the fire button and the solder connections for the fire button to make sure it's not a dead short that'll autofire the DNA 40 too.

Sorry to hear about some of the issues you guys are having. I have experienced the Continuous firing happen on a couple occasions, but for me it doesn't have to do with the 510 or the atty as far as I know. It's actually the fire button getting stuck, it's only happens when I hit it in just the right spot right on the edge of the button, and I am able to re-create it. I just hit the fire button again and it stops firing.

Would anyone here, who has some experience modding be willing to upgrade my chip to a dna40? Trying to get an idea of what people would charge to do it. I have a feeling fasttech will have these enclosures by themselves just like they have the hana's now here in a couple months, and they will be much cheaper that Yosen is quoting prices for now. Here's a quick few pictures for size comparison, and one for fun. Might have to dust off my real cameras, and try to get some nice pictures before too long.

Istick, Cloupor Hana clone, and Zero clone.

Oh yes, it does. I thought you meant real battery drain where the level doesn't return. If you go back and read the first page of the thread you will see where I posted about that.

I have checked again can't see anything causing a short. It's happening somewhere, for sure. I will let someone that knows what they are doing check it out again before DNA40 goes in. I am kind of optimistic.

Ok removing buttons from the PCB was a fail. There isn't enough leg left on the buttons to be useful for this project. Going to order new buttons. Probably safer to use new components anywho.

2 - 6mm x 6mm x 5mm
1 - 12mm x 12mm x 4.3mm

I'm going to post this here because it is the most recent of @Nikkita6's threads, but I nominated "Nicole Lea aka Nikkita6 of Vaping Cheap" for the Best of 2014 "Best Vape Blog" category.

Just in case anyone else wants to vote for her... http://guidetovaping.com/guidetovapings-best-of-2014/

Oh you sweet man you, I can't believe that you did that! What an utterly considerate, and just all around really nice thing to do. I appreciate that very much. :)

Wouldn't have done it if I didn't believe it. Your reviews are the most complete and well rounded that I have ever read. As mentioned I have the Wotofo/A-Mod ZNA 30 review bookmarked as my manual ;)

I'm not really setup to video it, but I'm taking notes and pictures so I can post everything when I get it finished. Couple days to wait for the new switches so probably won't be able to do anything again until this weekend.

Work in progress. Continuing tomorrow.
The board with buttons (as fury mentioned) is unusable. The buttons share ground and it was designed to work with this dna30 clone. I am using new buttons and rewiring it all. More pics and details tomorrow.

Now that you guys are completely rebuilding these, could a fatdaddy 510 be fitted?

The problem with how the mod is made, copied from the original, is that the outer case fixing screws sit just below the atty and too close to 510. This means that if you tried to install fatdaddy it would cover the fixing screw. The only alternative is to drill another hole and fill the old one -- not pretty.

Like Filip said the existing hole layout will prevent the use of an add-on 510. Still I wonder if we might fit a floating 510 pin in there to replace the existing 510 pin...like the core of the fat daddy...next project.

Awesome, that will work too, probably better than video because I will not have to pause or rewind :p How different are the DNA 30 and 40 chips? The Evolv I mean ...

So I got mine in a couple of days ago and man this thing is HEAVY!!!!! I literally feel safer holding this to get ready to punch someone in the face on Hollywood Blvd haha! It is that solid.
I did get some good threads though which was one of my main concerns.
And... I see what you guys mean about the Ohms readings being all over the place. I have a range from 1.2 but sometimes it says 2.8?? It says 2.8 initially then after each vape it gradually goes down to 1.2
Lastly I was able to do my wrap thing to it using genuine lambskin leather and it is freaking sexy, I don't feel I will ever use the 2 extra sleeves I bought from Focal because the leather is so sexy :(

One last thing I noticed about this is that the edges out of the box are really sharp! I may take a file to them to take some of the edge off but other than that I'm pretty happy. Vapes nice, looks nice and isn't huge but it is HEAVY haha.

Damn, I was gonna say before I actually read the comment "that looks like real leather" .. and yes it is very sexy, great job!

I don't have the jumping ohms issue, but I am continuing to find out that my 2nd piece with the larger 510 threads will not behave with at least two of my atties. My Lancia and Squape will not work with it at all, I get check atomizer .. yet those atties work just fine with the other Zero with the better threading. I can't figure out what it is that this one Zero doesn't like about these two atties .. it works fine with the GP Heron, Rose, Taifun, and Aqua V1.

Anyhoo, in other unexpected news .. Yosen reached out to me last night and said they are sending me not one, but two new upgraded Zero Modz. So the upgraded batch is finally ready, and they said they were giving them a QA check before they send them out. So whoever was waiting on the upgraded batch for their order to ship you will probably hear something about it soon. They are also throwing in a Orchid V5 and 3 Geyser RDA's so thats sweet too.

Ya that would be the one aesthetic improvement that they could make to the Zero clone. Mine weren't really sharp, but they didn't give the edges a slight radius finish like the authentic. But I have seen the pics of the SX Zero and those are radius finished around the edges, which is more like the authentic.

Yes I did see these releases from Infinite, they sent me an email a couple of days ago ... I asked them to send me pics of the inside of the Zero because I wanted to see if it was the same as Yosen's. I actually meant to just see the inner fiberglass housing, but they sent me pics of the Zero frame, and the chips prior to assembly, and it is the same exact chip that Fury showed in his pics on page 4. So that tells me that Infinite is reselling the Yosen V2, which is just an upgrade of the same chip.

On the flask, I have the OEM on this one and I will be getting my Vapor Flask V2 sample directly from them, which the manufacturer said will be ready around 12/15. This manufacturer has actually produced the V1, V2, and V3 Vapor Flask. The V2 is 30W with made in usa and serial #. The V3 is 40W with made in usa and no serial #.

What is interesting is that Infinite has priced the 50W box higher than the Zero, which I find surprising considering a lot more work went into constructing the Zero, than a simple aluminum box. Not intrigued at all by the 50W, its same ole same ole to me. And I don't like that Infinite put their brand on the body of the Vapor Flask clone .. no biggie because my OEM VF clone will not have any branding on it.

Anyone who had to send theirs back I would like to think could only receive an upgraded one in return. Shoot FC an email and confirm, but I don't see how anything else would be possible ... Now, lets hope the upgrade is in fact an upgrade. Based on the little announcement that Yosen made two weeks ago, we at least know that they have increased the voltage output by 1v, and there is wattage lock .. and I am "assuming" that they lowered the typical current output.

Stay tuned ...

So is it worth purchasing or waiting for a V3 to work out all the kinks?

Well it is all "supposed" to be worked out with this V2 that has not reached anyone's hands yet .. but for now I will leave you all with this. Yosen did say they were the sister brand of Infinite, so might as well keep it all in the family :D

Transplant complete but not without the help of friends that know what they are doing. It really is a great device and DNA40 is fantastic. It doesn't even come close to the clone chip although mine was pretty crap anyway so.

Anyhow, here are some pics of the install. As I mentioned earlier we had to include new buttons since the original board the buttons were fixed would just not work with dna40, well we couldn't figure out how to. There is some glue gun action here, it ain't pretty but it works great. We also had to play around a little with the buttons to get the right feel to them since they are not fixed to any board. Luckily the wood insert pushes them nicely into place so just a little bit of glue gun to hold them in place is enough.

We also decided to leave the original charge port in place since it was nice and snug. I'll save the new one for another mod should I decide to venture there. Zero will keep me happy for some time.

I also ordered some extra sleeves from Yosen over Facebook. They ship DHL and transaction was smooth. Hope to get them soon - gray, gold and s/s.

Now, photos...

Ignore the screen on the last pic, it's fine but because of the refresh rate of the screen is about the same speed as of the iPhone it's kind of hard to capture. I'll try iOS slowmo to see if this works better.

Reading through this thread nearly a month later but, this is absolutely spot on. It's like an old Marantz receiver.

Ignore the screen on the last pic, it's fine but because of the refresh rate of the screen is about the same speed as of the iPhone it's kind of hard to capture. I'll try iOS slowmo to see if this works better.

Do you have a link to the buttons you used?

I have no real intention of buying this any time soon, I imagine this isn't the V2 either.

I dunno. It says it ships in 5 days. I ordered two of the V2 (I think it's actually V3) of them directly from Yosen a couple weeks ago, and that would match the timeline pretty well. Too bad I didn't wait, Fasttech is selling them for $5 over what they quoted me for orders of 10 pcs, and I planned on putting a DNA 30 & 40 in them anyhow.

So is there a release date for the V2 I have not ordered mine yet I was going to but if there are issues I would rather wait... Ohh thats right were changing the chip dont matter... duhh

Well the V2 is completed, Yosen sent me a tracking # at 3am, but its the weekend in China so I won't have mine until prolly this time next week. For anyone waiting on FC I would suggest that you email them and ask what the current status on their side is.
