Likewise here, lovely dreary day.

From your earlier post it would seem we are of nearly the same era and have similarities in upbringing. I graduated High School in 1979. My parents instilled in me that you always ask permission to borrow or use something and when you do you always return it in better condition than when you got possession of it. If you break something you fix it or replace it. If you borrow a vehicle, mower, etc., you return it clean and with a full tank of fuel.

Well, grew up in VA, around Shenandoah river and Blue Ridge Mountains area. Living here in Jackson County, WV now. You got exactly what I was brought up on.

Had a step dad that also was always beating me over tools left out. Now, yes I was a kid. But I also knew then as now I didn't always leave stuff out. But I see that from wife's BIL, he leaves stuff out then gripes over not having his tools.

That's why I got upset last week when I lost an Allen wrench I borrowed from him in a pinch. He had no right to debase me as a child for having dropped the small tool. I was in fact working over a table, but standing. To me it boils down to stuff happens. As if he's never lost a small item, even being careful. He's a machinist, mechanic and not used to that? Right, sure ...

Buy yes as you say I was taught to return stuff I asked to borrow, if not in better shape at least not in any worse. Also like I say, I don't mind sharing stuff with family. That happens. Trouble being he has never been welcoming as family. And then you got him running everything into the ground as well without any care.

*shaking my head* I'm not even going to type in the worst. Suffice it to say I just rather we not be here. No real choice though.

We gotta do what we have to do. Unfortunately, what we have to do isn’t what we envisioned or what we would rather do. More often than I would care to I just have to SMH at others because their values and ways differ greatly from my own. A long time back I decided to not depend or rely on others for anything that related to my happiness. Yeah, some people do things that chaps my a$$ but I no longer let what they do steal my joy or happiness. I just store it away as what I call a pearl of knowledge (keeping in mind how pearls come to be).

Yep, that sums it up well for me too on my first work break.

Well, I'm having "one of those" days. Feel like everyone has given up on me. Saw a position for maintenance in our school system. It was just general, as a helper for trained up tradesmen. Point being it could have been a "foot in the door".

Trouble is they require you drive. Which to some degree I understand. On the other hand they could transport me from school to school with a county vehicle. I could use tools off the truck or carry my own. Wife said they had ladders on the trucks.

My point was they got tools in the schools as well as ladders. The only reason to drive I can see is to go between point A to point B. She made the point that someone who drives can also do the work, they don't need to hire two people. And yes, that's valid.

Still as I cannot drive there is a lot I'm unable to even try doing. I also pointed out she let me set a toilet, let rewire our house here with her Pawpaw. It's not that I cannot do some of the work required, not that I don't want to work, ... but "you can't drive so we can't use you."

It reminds me of going to a welding shop after high school with my certification from vo-tech for welding. "Sorry buddy, closed shop. You can only apply here if you got thirty years plus experience." "Um, if you don't hire me how am I supposed to get that?" "Not my problem."

Told I need more faith in myself, confidence. You don't get it unless you go out and do. And people keep telling me I can't go do. Yes, even my own wife who reminded me she works for the employment board and my not driving isn't a disability nor is it discriminatory to require that.

What else is it then when it creates a hostile and adverse barring of my working? Sorry but I don't comprehend. I know "it's a requirement for everyone", still doesn't make it not discriminating. It just means they discriminate equally. Ha!

So yeah that's my sighing and staring into space. I'm just realizing that it seems I've been given up on. Ye ha.

I’m wondering if it may be something that you could contact EEOC about…

Well the wife works for WV Employment. Figure she's correct in her assessment. So no, I don't figure it's something to contact EEOC about.

As it is got to get ready. Custodian work this evening, 2p to 10p. Yay.

I can see why it is a requirement because you need to drive the truck around the school to fix windows and need the ladders. I have a Grade School behind the house and Maintenance also does the lawn work which requires bringing different machines on a trailer to the school yard since they aren't kept here.

My husband and son both worked with overhead door companies for a long time. There were times when they'd be the only two on installation staff with a driver's license....which of course would mean the company could only run two trucks, even though they had five "helpers" on staff. There are some jobs that just can't be done if you can't drive. When we lived in Savannah, a lot of their work was in Hilton Head, and that's over an hour away. Not practical for someone else to drive an unlicensed technician there and then wait around for hours while the work gets done.

A job that my hubbs had that he really enjoyed and was well suited for was maintenance at a Marriott Residence Inn. @MyMagicMist, with you being handy with tools and able to fix most anything, you could easily do a job like that, if there are hotels close enough to you to be practical. You could be a desk clerk most anywhere, a night auditor at a hotel, there are tons of things you could do without needing to drive. I think part of the problem you're having is a problem that people here in my area have, too - there just aren't many jobs, and for every one that comes open, there are 25 people who want it. This area's economy was very nearly destroyed when all the textile manufacturing jobs went overseas, so there are two defunct Burlington Mills plants, a Tultex plant, etc. that sit empty now and have been empty for almost 20 years. 25 miles away, in Danville, the Dan River Mills buildings are all empty, and at one time they employed THOUSANDS of people.

We are living in a time right now that just sucks in so many ways. My friend in Danville needed repairs on her Hyundai Santa Fe (check engine light on for the second time, plus a recall that she needs the repair for) and the other day on the phone she told me that the Hyundai dealership there in Danville had called her to say they had moved her appointment (which she had already waited a month for) for that work to late December, because they have NO mechanics to fix cars. NONE. Well, I also have a Hyundai Santa Fe that needs the same recall work, and I have a Sonata that has a major recall out and now I have nowhere to take my cars to be repaired unless I drive 1.5 hours to Durham. AND I'm sure the Durham dealership is busy and booked out into probably January, because of the situation up here with the Danville dealership.

My company, in the past three or four months, has paid nearly 7 million dollars in fines because we are short so many truck drivers and we can't get trailers moved out of the Foreign Trade Zones or back to the trailers' owners in time. That same situation is occurring all over the country, and is why when you walk into Walmart, half or two thirds of the shelves are empty.

Need title work done on a old car I have, and have to make a f'n appointment to see someone at DMV. The aggravation just goes on and on.

Sure, I could understand hauling lawn equipment. At the same time there is a separate crew that works that aspect.

Not going to worry about it too much. I was thinking of self improvement, possibly better pay.

Wife says I got too much "shit" in my head. She has no idea how to help me.

Told her get a scalpel, take my brain out so I quit thinking. Seems that causes most if not all of my trouble.

Yeah, this is a lot of it too. But you're under estimating the waiting list. One spot comes open there's 200 already in line.

Here in WV, the school mantra is "readin' writin', Route 21 to get out and find work".

" My point was they got tools in the schools as well as ladders. "

My point was you can't be carrying a ladder all around the outside of the building.

Meditation, my dear. Everyone can do it, just have to train yourself and be patient. Focusing on the breath helps. Just don't fall asleep.

That's my trouble I do fall asleep. Wake back up and trouble is still there. I would drink to forget but know how that goes too.

May just break down and go get a medical mary jane card.

Not that I don't have my moments, but for the most part, I'm mellow enough already.

Had to train myself years ago how to "not worry." Else I'd be batshit crazy by now. I tell my friend who IS a worrier - if there's nothing you can do about a thing RIGHT NOW, then put it away in your mind. There's no need mulling it over constantly, or projecting outcomes, or just fretting in general. The time will come when you can address it, and then, you pull it off the back shelf and do something.

She tries, bless her heart, but big doses of Prozac help. That Wellbutrin shit she takes doesn't work nearly as well.

I haven't sat down since I got up this morning. Had a PT here for Mom this morning just before lunch, then had to run out to Westbury to take a picture of the Headstone for the Family Plot. While there I went to Microcenter to pick up a new USB Stick since the last one I bought kissed the ghost the other day. I was going to buy the same one and return it to them until I found out they have a 5 year Warranty. They think we are stupid and sell an extended warranty for them~! One last thing I need to do is run for some Chopmeat to make a Chili for tonight's dinner.

Unable to take that. It does the exact opposite for me. Wind up having a psychotic disassociation split. I go to sleep but wake back up still asleep. The psychotic me takes over. And yes, literally go out of mind, because all I'm aware is being asleep.

That only happens taking Prozac. So yep, got off of it real quick.

That sounds like absolutely no fun at all. No, don't take that any more. Was it a serotonin storm? I know that can cause very serious issues for some people.

My son abruptly stopped taking his AP med one time, because his new wife didn't like him being so knocked out at night (read, Seroquel), and I swear I believe he had a psychotic episode, even though he'd never been psychotic before. He had been prescribed an AP for treatment-resistant bipolar depression. He ended up in jail and then in prison for the things he did during that time.

So no, don't take Prozac any more. I was mostly joking, but would never presume to tell anyone else to change their meds. And you're right, it's not a thing to joke about. I apologize.

And while I'm being serious, I wonder if you all know that misswish lost her husband recently. He was only recently diagnosed with lung cancer, and he died only a matter of weeks after his dx. She told us this in the Daily Check-In thread, so if you haven't yet, you might want to express to her your condolences there.

So sudden, and she seems so sweet, and I am just so very sad for her. I can't imagine how she must feel.

It may have been. All I recall was what I got told of it. I apparently went on patrol out on the road in front of our house. Had grabbed a butcher knife for a weapon as mom had gotten firearms out of the house. That wasn't due to me. She had lost my stepdad, most of the ones there were his. She let his friends play highest bidder on them. She just didn't want "him" there anymore.

A neighbor was up and saw me patrolling. He called me up to his front porch. He could tell I was out of my mind. He had seen it in WWII soldiers. We sat there and had a few beers, he kept me and everybody safe. We talked but damned if I recall about what. Once my mom was up he hollered over to her. She got me back in the house and pointed to bed.

So no, don't take Prozac any more. I was mostly joking, but would never presume to tell anyone else to change their meds. And you're right, it's not a thing to joke about. I apologize.

Nah. I didn't see it as joking. Merely saying Prozac might be beneficial for some. Great! Glad it can be. Some of us though are probably just "wired up" wrong for it to help and it actually makes things worse.

Yeah, kind of held back a bit.

I walked upstairs to check on Mom who tells me there was a package on the bench~! Never got the around the corner tracking~! So this time it was Brand New in boxes packed nicely. Did a temporary setup in the living room and they say PnP and damn straight it sure was. Mounted two inside cameras so far one in the kitchen and one in the living room. Had it viewable on my phone until I left the house. Have some configuration to do to get the phone and PC working for remote access. I didn't have the device name because I was rushing. Cameras have lots of adjustments so still some tweaking to do at the end but so far I am pleased.
