They really should be making us wear them in public but even still with a number of govt figures advocating doing so, others are saying again like last time we dont all need to. Crazy.
Our numbers here, in Melbourne not our town thankfully, are rising. 317 today, and more hospitalised. The numbers now after the protests and easing are higher than when it first hit. Now its a worry here. Still hearing of large numbers people totally ignoring the rules.

Morning!

Another same old stuff day, but we are fine so it's ok. Jessie is in the bathroom sink, something new for her. She started that yesterday, cats are weird. Today is vape chores. Washing bottles and some mixing. Jessie will want to help, lol. If it's water, she is there.

Stay safe and healthy

Hehe, Milly doesn't do sinks, but she's fascinated with the shower/tub. She'll go bounding up into the tub and just lay there, I guess 'cuz it's cool and she can hear things from the plumbing system.

We are hearing more about new cases locally now than we were during the first run of this thing. The latest is that nine employees of a Dollar General distribution center tested positive, and they have shut the DC down temporarily. Now we have more than doubled total cases within the last two weeks.

Should have test results back today or tomorrow for grandson, who was tested earlier in the week because he got sick. My son is under quarantine, because by the next day he also was sick. Don't think it's Covid, the main symptom for them both was a sore throat, but will reserve judgment for now.

Hubbs was out mowing on the riding mower just now and the sky opened up and the bottom fell out. Within about 90 seconds he was coming in the door, drenched from head to toe. He's freezing now, in here in the A/C.

Working on yet another Walmart order for tomorrow. I have started stocking up a little bit, again, in case people get hysterical, again.

Everyone please stay safe.

I am still maintaining a 2-3 month reserve of non perishables and cat food. Just replacing consumed goods.
And have around 1 years worth of masks and gloves. I am convinced that the majority of the uS has not seen the worst of this pandemic yet.

Fair to middlin' here. I'm becoming frustrated with a need to wait on a home in budget to come along. Beyond that we're doing about as well as one could expect. I've the gout under control again, hopefully.

Been doing some writing toward a story. It seems funny going back finding bits that seem to fit right to this story. Wife is still doing temp for gov. job, they recently sent them for a round of training up. Am hopeful that's a sign to a more permeate position opening for her.

Hopefully soon the wife will receive my medical records from military. She then wants to try filing me for disability again. Hoping that if the military wrote I was discharged for disability, state & fed will put me on the disability listing, finally. Not that I exactly want to be on a dole but I've little choice in it.

Unfortunately, I never learned much else beside soldiering, which leaves me a good basic "template" sort but marked "unskilled". that limits options as well as not having a sense of smell. It'll sort out eventually, I'm sure,

So yes, fair to middlin' for this check in and figure that unless otherwise stated.

Good luck with the military disability thing. Service personal really need to be looked after better than they are. Seems to be the same in just about every country I hear about it.

Checkin in.

Still corona safe for me and mine.
Well not so sure about some of the grands and great grands. One grand and her clan went to FL on vacay a couple of weeks ago... Dumb...
They are not in my isolation group, for obvious reasons.

Take Sil shopping and prescriptions tomorrow. Full corona combat gear. Mask, gloves and bottle of sanitizer in shirt pocket.

Alive and well here in TX. The Irish pub is open, but with limited menu. No fish and chips and no shepards pie, that sucks, but the beer is cold and tasty. On the way home tomorrow. Some want me back next week, but I told my boss that the work I'm doing is bull stuff. It's nothing but flag waving. We'll see... Yes, I'm being a cranky old fart... :giggle:

Read of the work you speak and can agree it sounds like bull hockey. I'm sure they could find local crews to do local work such as it happens being. No, ship people in from three states away and such makes more sense. I understand needing to abide union stuff and all but the chimp work that you're seeming to do only requires a button pusher anymore what with smart meters, RFID and such now. *smh* If your a cranky old fart, I'm likely a withering bit of dinosuar dung. *chuckles*

Good luck with the military disability thing.

Let me clarify this as I do not seek to mislead. I am not disabled due to military service. Yes, I served after graduating basic training for about two weeks. That noted I was not injured or compromised due to that service. No, I'm not saying that to cover. I'm saying it because it is fact.

How it ties to military service is my military career was cut short by what the military tested me medically for. They ruled out a brain tumor. Though a congenital defect I had, but was unaware of does effect aspects of my brain.

The military paper work for my discharge mentions this and states it's a disability. So, wife needs the medical records they have on me to prove that out for plain old disability. The error the military made, as far as they're concerned is a bit of over zealousness in recruiting me, my medical was not fully checked out prior to getting enlisted.

In other terms, I likely ought not have been allowed to serve due to a disability I was so far unaware of having. Yes, my puberty was delayed but no one in family or otherwise thought this was an issue. Everyone seemed keen to nudge me to military service as it really was about the best thing for me.

That's part of being Appalachian too, you're so poor and kept that, you'll risk your life to make it better for your family. All else can be damned. Beans, Bibles, bullets praise the Lard! Told to not fight but yet given easy access to go be a well trained and armed psychopath in foreign countries. Or as the cartoons of the time infamously hailed, "Go, Joe!"

"Son, you too can be a Real American Hero(tm) we even have guns made by Hasbro for you, the M-16s are fine weapons."

And no, I've nothing against the military. I've just grown up, gotten more secure in my own personal testicular fortitude and come to see as Smedley D. Butler. And sorry again I may be an anarchist, but I'm a peaceful law abiding one. I'm not the evil nihilistic type, I still believe in something at least and am convicted in the manner to say I'm one having convictions.

Apologies, not a political rant. I'm merely expressing factually who I am, what I am. Please do not mistake that as me slinging political talk. I'm not. Excuse me.

Well, I'll tell you a good fiction story to entertain or possibly weave a fishing yarn. Beyond that though, I rather be honest. :) My grandmother rest her would do unspeakable things to me if I were not. Though I could always tel her I "accidentally fell" into the river on a fishing walk. She would chuckle knowing all too well how "accidental" my "falling" had been. Mom got upset, grandma would chide her, "boys, rivers, Summers you going to find all three wet." :)

G'day!

Finally a nice morning in the 70s for a change. Gonna be nice for a bit then get HOT.
Actual temps where I am tend to vary from the predicted due to geography. TV guys say from 95-97, but 'prolly will hit closer to 100F this coming week...argh!

Screenshot-from-2020-07-17-09-06-28.png

Our Gov changes stuff again, still getting cases here.

Milly and I are fine though, not much going on here. I watched "The Old Guard", a pretty decent flick.
Looking forward to the NASCAR weekend. :)

Cripes - you need to hire a lawyer to explain all the subclauses, etc
Yes, spent ~3 hours trying to make sense of the vague edits.

Decided fuck it, emailed local state MP:

Dear Minister,

Sorry for the interruption. I am trying to make sense of the updated information.

I live at ********** VIC 3201. I am wondering if it is still OK for me to travel 6km by bus to go for an hour hike along Seaford beach, and pick up a take away espresso on my way back to the bus stop at Seaford train station?

Natural trails are all at least a few KM from my house, but provide me with better exercise, as advised by my doctor.

The Pines Flora and fauna reserve is the only real alternative, which lacks the opportunity to stop along the way if I wear out. The trail along the beach, I think that it is called Seaford walking trail, has rest points periodically along the way. I don't always need them. But during last hard lockdown, the Flora and Fauna Reserve left me worried about the isolation of it.

Nice spot, the lookout is a hidden gem of the area. But the hills and lack of rest points just worry me a little.

Yours sincerely

Dan Jackson

Me? N'ah, never ever. Not one whit of notion what ya talking. I never saw the like o' that. *chuckles*

Growing up three boys knew, just knew mom knew everything. As we got older we figured out she might not but dared not push to find out what she did or didn't know. All three of us were rough and tumble country boy, worked hard, played harder. :)

Did we build rafts? Yep, a few times. Sank 'em too. *grin*

It's been a while. We are doin good here, staying safe and as healthy as possible. We are seeing the number of new cases climb daily, I think it 1247 new cases today. Hearing talk that Illinois is thinking of taking a step backwards on the opening up, I guess they realize it was too soon. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and being extra careful.

Yeah its got to that point because people in Melbourne keep pushing the boundaries all the time. A simple stay near home and exercise near home should suffice. But they push it and push it and when caught say "well nobody said I couldnt do this if I felt I needed to" "it never said I cant go and travel to get my favourite pizza" "it never said......"
The police are constantly being frustrated by blatant rule breakers that use the most ridiculous excuses. People from Melbourne have come to our area with fake address changes and are staying in the bush areas. Our towns would struggle with our small health systems to look after the population we have if we have an outbreak here without the dozens upon dozens of rule breaking idiots that would cause a total collapse of them should that happen. When the lockdown happened where I live we did what they asked. Only took our walks either on the property we live on or across the road along a bush track.
Id loved to have gone walking elsewhere like Stuart Mill where I love to go bush walking but the simple rule said close to home, not where id like to go and am used to going.
So as the idiots keep pushing the boundaries, going where they like or want to, instead of following clear rules the council's and govt are forced to try to make every excuse explained. For crying out loud we walked up and down our driveway whilst others were going many ks from home and saying "but you didnt make it clear enough that you meant CLOSE to home, explain close, my close is 20km away and my labradoodle needed fresh air and I needed to break in my new runners". That's why Melbourne has this second outbreak which is well and truly eclipsing the first. And all the blatant rule breakers can take a little bit of the collective blame upon themselves for each death this second wave brings. Even if they never had covid, because as each openly breaks them it empowers others to do likewise. "They're going on the beach, I will too" "Theyre riding their bikes there, we will too" and it grows. The follow the others protests around the world recently will be the death of thousands where social distancing was ignored by masses.

Sonya Kilkenny replied to my email and said 6km to the beach is OK. Just take most direct route and mask up.

I won't be travelling outside my local council for nicer beaches though. Just going closest.

Back home from TX. I'm alive and well. Both cats and the dog were happy to see me. Oh yeah, the wife was very happy to see me...

Airports are sad places now. 75% or more of the shops are closed. LAX terminal 7 (United) no open restaurants except for one takeout burger joint. I feel sorry for all the people who used to work in airport shops. :(

Air travel will be pretty much minimal for at least another year I figure.

Well I heard a new one this morning. Son called, was standing at the checkout at Sam's Club. Only had cash to pay with, and suddenly Sam's Club isn't accepting cash. Son said he also knew that Walmart in Lynchburg wasn't taking cash.

He said someone said something about a cash shortage, but I think it has more to do with the fact that money carries germs and necessitates more direct contact between a customer and an employee.

So be aware, before you head out to shop. You might not be able to use your cash in some places, and if this is starting up, it's likely to get more widespread soon.

We're still here, hanging in. I'm cooking a pot of chicken and rice today. That's about all.

Everyone please stay safe.

Good morning VU!

Awesome morning!

Favorite coffee brewed, 2 miles walked... dogs panting. Joints lubed... feeling rather normal.

Had a 3 day ear issue again, left ear this time... saline rinsed it and cleared out the obstruction... right as rain... set an appointment with ENT doc for the 10th... for a thorough cleaning no ear infections for 47 years... get two in the span of 2 months...

Probably do our normal covid driving around and picture taking from a distance and away from crowds... and do a quick curb side pick up at Bird Rock coffee roasters in... Bird Rock (La Jolla)

Have 10lbs on order... but that takes 7 days to travel 26miles... they only roast on Mondays and ships next day.

Family is safe, we are good.

Making pizza soon here. :):pizza:

72YRhrK.jpg

It's from Trader Joe's Herb & Garlic sourdough dough.
I let it sit a day or so in the fridge and it got a nice even bubble going...so definitely not dead!

Today I managed to get the dough out of the bag, fed it a bit of Masa harina and a bit of oil to make it a better consistency. Stretched and pulled it out, folding etc. Then made a ball and letting it rise for an hour or two. May as well use the heat in the Apt for some good eh?

This'll make two pizzas easily for my countertop convection oven...for about $2.
Nomz for NASCAR shall occur forthwith...meanwhile gonna sit and watch golf with a nice cold beer.
uHsrQZN.png

**edit**
It started off level with the 400ml line, now risen up to the 600ml line...getting gud...

Morning!

Still good here, same old. Jessie is still being a sink kitty. Now she's shedding in Hubby's sink, too. Spread the wealth! Hot again, guess it's going to stay that way for a while.

Stay safe and healthy
He shaves there, she can shed there. Maybe that's what she's thinking? Give Jessie love from us. Love hearing about her everyday. Stay safe!

Lazy start to the day. We're heading out in a bit for weekly errands, then right back home.

First check in for awhile - glad everyone is doing well for the most part, even if it is all very aggravating

Went out to sell a little kratom - and brought home a few interesting things in the process

Healthy and happy here!
Work has me booked solid until September.
Wife is still working from home.
Dogs are alive and well.

Went and picked up two small kayaks for cheap today. No easy task. Most of the sporting goods stores are out of stock on kayaks. They are apparently in high demand right now. Went to 4 stores in 3 different towns. We were determined and lucky to find the 2 that we ended up buying. Then the wife and I went paddling down the river for about 2 hours. Paddled upstream against the current for a while, then let the river take us back to where we launched at. Lots of fun.

Just wait til Monday when they’re all required to wear masks. There’s gonna be some interesting memes from that, I’m sure.....
Customers are required to wear masks now in KY. for a week or so. But Monday Wally World with have the 'mask ambassadors' at the door with their shock prods.

I went Friday and all but a few did have masks on in the store.
Before it had been closer to 50% with masks on.

Around 500 Cases a day now here in KY. 3 weeks ago it was around 300 per day...
