Checking in here, fair to middlin' as usual.

Wife has cousins in quarantine and I had a best friend recently lose his
dad to this sickness. And yes, I still stand by the devil's advocate
view point I posted. No, I'm not hoping I'm correct. Merely realizing it
is one of many points of view.

Well that's all that said. Got finished today on a 5,000 word chapter
for a novel draft. Will germinate a little before hammering out another
chapter. Someone opened my eyes to simply writing for the fun and sake
of writing. It seems to be coming along better now. :)

Hope everyone stays safe and runs 'er slow.

That is mesmerizing. I could sit and watch it all day.

By the way, if there was ever an occasion that called for some Southern sweet tea, this is it. Normally I don't even like it, but I believe I could drink the hell out of some right now. Even with the A/C going in here, it's too warm.

It's 100 damn degrees here, heat index about 110. Heat index was 116 on Sunday. Hubbs complains constantly about the heat, and then won't sit his butt down and stay inside. He could at least wait until a cooler part of the day! Like 8 pm!

Yuppers...and pretty crap up here too. High temp won't be until at least 5pm though...AC is struggling.

I managed to put up the new curtains FINALLY...making a huge difference already :D

Still 80+ in here, but with all the fans it's tolerable.

Well we ended up at Walmart. Pulling into the parking lot, just wow. They have one entrance blocked off, but of course the one that is open is where all the people are crossing AND where you turn in. That took a college education, no doubt, to choose that entry point, instead of the one at the opposite end.

Our exchange for the fan he got that was messed up was pretty effortless. Get this, though... dude in front of us was bringing back a TV. so, they opened up the box to verify that the serial number on the TV matched what was on the outside of the box. Different TV, different screen type, covered in dust and smudgy fingerprints all over the screen, the base of the TV had crumbs on it. Crumbs! People have nerve, ya know? Of course, they told him, they weren't accepting it, since it wasn't even the TV on the box. So dude, playing it cool, says he was bringing the right one back. Like he didn't know? Oh come on.

Please forgive me, I know I'm grouchy and in a foul mood. It's been like this a few days now, mostly work related, but also, our society, man. It's scary and unstable, never mind The VID. I fear going out alone and I've never felt that way. I said that to boyfriend today, fearing he'd think I was being irrational, or something, but he totally understood why I feel this way now. I hope we at least find stability, again, as far as being human goes.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Dude with TV. Cops should charge him with attempted theft by deception.
Were it my store I would ban him from any future returns.
I worked retail for 5 years. This is a common method of theft.

Slept through this, but a car was on fire about a block from where I live last night. No idea if intentional or not.
Lots of fires of late. :(

On the plus side, dad had me look through a bunch of stuff he was taking to Goodwill, I snagged one of these:

il_570xN.499375444_j243.jpg

Mine is a different color, but it is easier to google and copy/paste than take a pic, process it, etc.

Good old 70s food chopper...great for me as I only cook for one.
Instant salsa, veggies for breakfast stuff, etc. :)

It was nasty after sitting around for years, but a good soak and sharpening of the blades and it's good as new again.

Small victory of the day: I finally found a bag of laundry THAT HAD ALL MY SHORTS IN IT.
It had been stored since I did a huge amount of laundry back in wintertime. Didn't need them then, so just put the bag away and forgot about it. Until now when it's freakin' hot and I neeeed them.

It wasn't with the rest of the stuff in storage bins/bags, so Milly much have knocked it back under a desk where I just found them. Hellz yeah...I was beginning to think Dad got forgotten a bag when we packed up after the laudrymat run.

Also had a few of my fave t-shirts in there, like my Dr Evil one.

PS: I had some fun with Milly and the old bag: https://vapingunderground.com/threads/we-love-cats.245599/post-2852499

Alive and well. Very upset and offended by the event last night that was perpetrated by my next door neighbor.

9:45 pm. Last night. Wife and I and two dogs are getting ready to settle down for the night. Suddenly, an explosion of unbelievable proportions shakes the complete shit out of our house. Was a literal bomb going off. 20 feet from my bedroom window. In my neighbor's back yard. He's drunk as fuck. I come out the back door within seconds to see what the hell just happened. See a 20 foot plume of smoke lingering in his yard. I yelled. He tried to say he didn't throw any explosive. I tell him he's a fucking idiot, the cloud in his yard gives it away. Yell repeatedly about how disrespectful, rude, and dangerous that was. Whatever it was. He then starts threatening me with violence. Grabs a spade shovel and starts to come towards my property. His girlfriend dragged him away screaming. My other neighbor starts screaming at him as well.
I then went to bed after calming down.
Today I regret that I did not call the police on him.

I talked to the other neighbor, who says the guy with the explosives lit off a half stick of dynamite and claims to have more in his house. His house is less than 50 ft from mine. Im going to call the police and tell them my neighbor is drunk, aggressive, threatening violence and discharging what I suspect to be either dynamite or an IED of some sort if I hear anything else from him. He was recently dishonorably discharged from military service.

Still very upset.

But healthy.

There is a handful of neighbors that have had it with him at this point. He moved in less than a year ago. Been nothing but disrespectful to everyone around him. Constantly drunk to a state of belligerence.

Oh, and he's the high school wrestling coach.
Good role model.

If he blows another one off, even a firecracker, I'm calling the cops and telling them he's discharging home made bombs and hopefully they come with the swat and kick his door down.

According to what I have read, you need an ATF permit to own or discharge anything over a quarter stick of dynamite. He's claiming to have half and 3/4 sticks. In his house.

I'd love to see the ATF or SWAT pull a kick door on him.

On second thought, FBI or homeland security. they take explosive devices seriously.
And dynamite and IED's are covered under federal laws.

also harder for him to get out from under a federal charge.

Well four days on some new medication here. I can feel it actually helping and no seeming adverse effects. I feel less worried, less stressed over stuff beyond my control. Which is a good thing for me as I wrap it all up together and worry too much, think too much about it. Then, it eats me down.

Fair to middlin' but I'm seeing a bit of light at least now. :)

Morning!

Hubby needs to pick up his meds. That means that I have to get decently dressed to drive him there :( He is having a flare-up of psuedo-gout, joints are all swollen up and hurting. Can't drive safely.
Jessie is in a catnip coma, partied too hard, lol. Sure was fun to watch.

Stay safe and healthy

Not much going on today so far. We're good.

Ground beans and made coffee, put a big bottle of it in the fridge for the heat later on.
Gotta make Milly a new batch of meat today, but she's fed, littered, and content for the meantime.

Dad brought me some yeast packets, so pretty happy about that. I'd wanted the 1lb of SAF Red, but can't be too picky nowadays. At least I can make pizzas and/or breads if needed now without going out.

Should be a bit cooler and possibly stormy today, some winds and rain would be nice, lightning not so much. Whole state is a tinderbox right now, several smaller fires here but nothing too terrible yet.

It's 5-10 degrees coolerin here with the new curtains up. They seem very thin but are lined and block the heat well while allowing just enough light to see.

Glad AF I'm not in Portland...over here in the more conservative INW, that shit would not go over well...:cuss:

Checking in, still healthy. New feral kitty is at the vet's getting neutered. I sure hope that tones downs his aggressiveness. So weird, one moment he is all loving and like flipping a light switch he attacks and bites hard! I was reading about a thing called petting induced aggression that apparently is common in feral cats. Lovely. I can tell now when he's getting ready to bite but my other animals wont be able to.

Sigh..........Worse case, once the weather cools he will need to go back outside. Naturally I will take care of him. Maybe the neuter will help or maybe the vet has some ideas. Cross your fingers for me. I do know it can take several months before all the kitty testosterone is gone. I will try and be patient but damn I have a lot of battle scars on my hands now lol

He's so pretty

Good morning VU!

Another day in paradise

Weather has been just perfect the past week... 74-78* with a slight breeze, and forecasted much the same for another few days...

Which only means our super humid time is late and will carry on later than normal

Sad day though, my left ear which was good for a few days, is boogered again... no idea wtf is going on and soonest I can go see the specialist is the 10th.

Just OK’D my 75k mile maintenance on my car... mother fook... don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the car, it’s a straight 9/10 in condition and always been garaged (2008 BMW 535i Sport) but dang lol... I knew it was coming and the things that needed to be done had to be done, but DANG!

Wife and family is good, I’m sort of crying,

Pick the car up later today or tomorrow.

Today is my Friday. I'm completely grateful for that, just a shitty couple weeks. I hate complaining all the time, it's old. I really am glad I have a job, and I do actually like it. Just rough, lately.

Anyhooooo... y'all stay safe, be well, be kind. See ya sometime tonight, after you're asleep again. And then tomorrow, when you're awake. :)

@JuicyLucy, this is for you, hon. :bunny:

Ha - and this is for you

Was typing a checkin message when the "more messages" notice appeared :)

We are still good and glad to see everyone doing okay for the most part - seems more mental health than physical ailments, though I am a big believer they go hand in hand so everyone be good to yourselves and each other

Getting ready for a hurricane they say is heading right at us, ETA Sunday - hurricanes often veer off course due to some kind of pressure over the islands so we rarely get the brunt of it

Not much we can do except top off our fuel reserves and protect some greenery in pots

I'm not sure, but I am going to ask him. Thanks!

Milly was like that the first few months, then she just sort of decided she liked me..lol.
Still very capable of giving me scars. But we have a truce of sorts, have learned each other's cues, and she's learned "NO OW".

Unless actually biting or such, do not pull you hand away fast...that triggers a prey response and those teeth/claws are made to entrap and tear at fleeing prey. Just freeze, go limp, and firmly (not yelling) tell him, NO OW. Cats don't attack dead things.

Then pull away once he releases. Pet then if you can and praise him.
He needs to learn you aren't a threat or food and that takes time. After awhile, the NO-OW will be learned too. Milly grapples me all the time, but has learned not to hurt me.

Be patient, be loving, and let 'em take his time getting acclimated.

I haven't tried it, but some folks use a Feliway product for hyperactivity and aggression.
The CatSite forums have a LOT of good help and a great supporting community too.

Glad you got 'em, he's beautiful. :)

Needed out of the Apt. and was a nice 70-ish morning with a stiff breeze and clouds. So, took a walk to TJ's and got a few things...gonna be a long Nascar/Baseball/etc. weekend. :D

Yup...I wore a long-sleeved cotton-poly Cabella's shirt as it was a bit chill early on.
Super comfy and breathes nicely. Just gorgeous out.

The goods. That is 2lbs of tort chips for about $3.

Milly got the bag to attack of course. Then was like, ok, now what?

I love that shirt, and the color. Once upon a time I had a bunch of shirts similar to that one. In the last few years I've become so hot-natured that I rarely can wear a long-sleeved shirt!

Well as you said, cats don't attack dead things. Once Milly killed the bag, what was left to do? :)

Yeah, it's super silky and actually fits well. Got it for like $3 at the Discount store. :D
I love the color too. I'm an Autumn so neutrals and darks do well.

Thanks caff doc just called and he has an undecended testie. So another fun thing and an ear infection. Cat is gonna cost us a freaking fortune. Sigh we really shouldn't be digging into our stash but it is what it is. I guess we have done our good deed getting him fixed up and healthy at least. Maybe he will mellow out enough to stay inside

You got him in, now ya gotta give him time to get used to the idea. ;)
You do not want to spend all that money and time and just have him run away. You're invested now.

I do suggest reading and/or posting on the CatSite forums, they have support and advice there that we likely can't give. I wouldn't have gotten this far with Milly without them. This is a vape site, theirs is nothing but cats 24/7.

Unless he'd been one before and remembers it positively like Tiki did, he's not a house cat yet.
Remember when I went about insane with new-Milly for months? I literally wanted her gone.

Then, it got better day by day. She's awesome now...but still bugs the shit out of me at times. ?

Well I can promise I will do the best I can, but you have to remember, I have 2 other kitties and 2 dogs here and if I can't get him to get along with them then he will have to be an outdoor kitty when the summer heat is gone. It would not be fair to my current fur babies to subject them to his attacks. He has lived outdoors best we can tell a couple of years now. He would be fine and we would have a kitty house out there for him.

Yeah, it's hard when you have existing animals to try and integrate with. Any way that it works out, he's got a home now thanks to you. :D

A day will hopefully come when he's purring away at ya and it's all worth it.

July 29th will be just eight months I've had Milly.
I woke up this morning with her sleeping curled up at my feet. I don't need anything more. ?
