Customers are required to wear masks now in KY. for a week or so. But Monday Wally World with have the 'mask ambassadors' at the door with their shock prods.
They already do. They even offer one to those that don't have one AND they're turning people away. I was surprised. For quite some time, they've had signs posted saying masks required, blah blah... this was the first time I've seen the mask thing enforced. Everyone in the store kept them on, which really surprised me.

Sadly, we had to go to 2 different ones. I told him the one I wanted to go to, since I knew they had what I needed. He insisted we go to the one just a tad closer to home and we'd go to the one I wanted if they didn't have it. We ended up having to go to the one I wanted to go to in the first place. I was in a seriously pissy mood by the time we got home. TWO Walmarts I had to deal with. Both did enforce the mask thing, though.

Well, installed a new 120 GB Sata hard drive today. Debian Buster boots up in under 5 seconds. It also went ahead and set up the PCI wireless card. :) So the Inter-Web connection here is pretty decent. I'm using LXDE for my gui. It's nice but not terribly bloated. Some apparently think it is.

Well still fair to middlin' here. Hope everyone else runs 'er slow. :)

Devil's advocate for the simple sake of thinking. What happens if it turns out all this fear mongering, and such is merely a means to dominate and establish control? Will you then be an idiot, my fine sir?

Please understand I'm not saying there are no actual cases of this disease. What I am saying is suppose someone, some entity is over inflating things regarding the disease? Could it be they would do it similar to the movie V for Vendetta?

Have you thought of this as a possibility? I do not think you an idiot. Though, what happens if such is the case, and you're left with egg on the face? Oh, you've called people idiots.

Maybe these people know something else is going on? Maybe they have other health issues which restrict their breathing in masks? Oh no, just go on and call them idiots. It's so much simpler than thinking, huh?

Again, I am not denying at all that there may be, or may have been a disease. I am not making light of any that have died, or are ill. I'm merely asking if we can take simple common sense precautions to thwart it, why so much fear? Ah, I see now from the example.

Doubtful that will occur with all the worldwide deaths, real deaths that have occurred, the overflowing emergency rooms in areas where it is out of control - how the fuck anyone can justify saying masking is just a way to dominate and control is a wack job

What I am saying is suppose someone, some entity is over inflating things regarding the disease?

What if? The established fact about the disease are bad enough - some members in this thread have had relatives die of this disease - ask them how overinflated it is

Though, what happens if such is the case, and you're left with egg on the face? Oh, you've called people idiots.

Better to have egg on face and call others idiots wrongly than be the idiot who spread deadly disease - that is what happens sir

Maybe these people know something else is going on? Maybe they have other health issues which restrict their breathing in masks? Oh no, just go on and call them idiots. It's so much simpler than thinking, huh?

These people should not be out and about during a pandemic

I'm merely asking if we can take simple common sense precautions to thwart it, why so much fear? Ah, I see now from the example.

"Common Sense" precautions only make it less likely to get sick. If you want to make light of people trying to protect themselves from a highly contagious deadly disease, you should join a different type of forum and certainly not be posting in the check in thread

This is for members who care about each other to check in and see how we are coping with it, and to touch bases so everyone can see if we are sick or not Sir

I am not belittling the fact of global deaths, or the deaths of family members from this forum. I am though thinking for myself and seeing a lot of correlation to a way to gain, maintain control, ... using fear.

Let me see, we've had our lovely war on terror no? Gee, what did we do but create more terrorists? Right, we established fearful control at our airports, transportation areas, and in the case of 1600 PA Avenue we locked down entire streets that were open to public through fare for over two hundred years.

It's not such a huge leap by logic, and critical thinking to see the obvious correlation/s. And no I am not being at all political with this. What I'm attacking is the idea of people being afraid, and our government such as it is either doing nothing, or being culpable at all levels.

That makes me start wondering, "hey what the f***?" Then, I see the correlations. I'll not apologize that you do not. You see differently than me. That's fine as it's fine I see differently than you. There's no need to sling arrows or names as it only serves to create diversion. Of course reading the riot act you seem to have painted me with, seems you don't care either way.

I'll also not apologize for thinking. Rather not do it at times because gee, look what it brings. You think I deliberately seek to lose friends by choosing to think what I think? If so you I'd ask you think over that again.

No, I'm not trolling here nor acting an jerk to be mean. I do sincerely see things differently. I'll not apologize for that, not any more. Why should I when no one else apologizes for expressing how they see things? There's no point. It's a publicly open forum, we're allowed to write / voice our views. I'm not being out of line to simply ask in sincerity, ... "maybe all this is something else?"

And no I've nothing to "back it up". I'm not presenting any debate or argument of what else it may be. I'm only trying to remain open minded and not blinded, bound up by fear. In so doing I see what I see. And it does seem there could be "something else" going on. As to what exactly? I don't know but I see the correlations with fear used as weapon, and not by some foreign boogeyman, terrorist from bum f*** dust hill. No, it's being wielded by our leadership, by our society.

I take advise from professionals in whatever field I am dealing with.
No investment advise from my mechanic nor medical advise from a celebrity, etc.
Is every medical expert spot on or in total agreement? Nope but well over 90% agree on how to control Corona virus spread and that it is real and even statistical numbers prove it is a real threat.

Has worked out pretty well for me so far in life.

I write this to better elucidate why I might see things a bit
differently. Below are some other examples to consider. As you see I'm
not belittling any tragedies, losses, deaths, illnesses. What I am doing
is looking at a larger scope in context & subtext.

War on Terror used as fodder to create balistic policing. Police go
crazy over extra money and military grade weapons, tactics being given
free reign. Police do so because they are helping coombat the war on
terror. Suddenly, police use the "in fear for my life" defense to
justify homicides. Now you have BLM waging war on the policing as well
as history itself.

Who benefits? Can I follow a money trail?

Pandemic strikes and gradually builds to become fodder for fearful
precautionary action. There will be a shift to come from this, a ready
made and waiting in the wings "solution", just as BLM seems the solution against the police abuses.

Again, Who benefits? Can I follow a money trail?

Cancer ravages people after the 1940s. This is when atomic power came into play. There were bombs, there were tests. We now have a cancer society that is funded by donations. They've been working at least sixty years trying to eradicate cancer, There's only progress in "treating" cancer.

Again, Who benefits? Can I follow a money trail?

I'm doing the same here, seeing a larger scope in context and subtext. And again, not apologizing because I see things different, nor that others can not see things as I do. That's an apology with no point, a non-apology. People all see things in different perspectives, we all have differing perceptions.

I take advise from professionals in whatever field I am dealing with.

I usually do as well but after my day today here at home, I've realized it's alright to ask question/s of alleged professionals. Cutting it down I had an alleged professional lie to me about something sacred to myself and quite a number of others I'm sure. And it has completely altered my ability to ever blindly trust any more.

It had nothing to do with the subject matter under discourse here now. Still such an impact does leave one more discerning. I've also recalled it is alright to think for myself.

Michigan is getting worse. We are over 600 new cases per day. We were down much lower than that. People are still dying, and those daily death numbers will rise with the growing number of new daily cases. View attachment 165115
Yep a bad trend in the majority of states. This is not over and will get worse for most.

I view it a a really poor sign of the US citizenry that many of us have to be forced to take proper precautions to work to control the spread of the Corona virus,
Kinda like small children that are a danger to themselves and others without proper parental supervision.
sad.

Sonya Kilkenny replied to my email and said 6km to the beach is OK. Just take most direct route and mask up.

I won't be travelling outside my local council for nicer beaches though. Just going closest.
Hear its now a $200 fine for not wearing one now down there without a legit exemption.
Its strange to watch the same people who were telling us they were not necessary, did little if anything to help and a waste of time now showing us how to put one on, make one and telling us how important they are in the fight against covid.
Stay safe down there.

Another day...Milly woke me eaaarly per usual. :coffee2:

Got her sorted and did some household things, like making some tea to put in the fridge for later on in the day when It'll be 90F, hand-washing some clothes to hang up and dry, shaved the homeless-person look off my face, etc.

Feels better and much less hot to finally clean the beard up..it was getting out of control.
707_2102_old_man_SMILEY.gif

Gonna go over to the MX store before it gets any hotter (about 73F now) to buy some selzer and mayo that I'd forgotten to get before when I'd shopped, can't go without those things around here. ;)

The NASCAR Cup race is at Noon PST in TX, so I'm stoked for that. :) ?

Yeeha! It's only 36 Celsius here, not hot. Sitting here roasting, hydrating and getting it broiled out. Hopefully they've worked out ways to keep those drivers cool. Be a shame to have one become a roman candle while driving in a race.

Ya bro, when i was like 19 i worked Conservation Corps cutting trees in full gear/chaps/hard hat/etc in this weather..i'd die now...lol

I went to bootcamp in Orlando, FL when I was 17 in July and Aug 1978, straight from upstate NY. The tops of my ears were burnt for the whole time. We were outside most of the time, unless it was a red flag day(above 100 F), then we were out just a couple of hours. Above 105 F was a black flag, and we could only go out of the barracks to eat or for indoor training. I was stationed in Pensacola, FL and Key West also. Enjoyed both those.

A/C gets lots of use nowadays. :teehee:

I got absolutely ROASTED in Pensacola once. We went fishing off the old bridge that used to cross Escambia Bay, and in 45 minutes I was already turning very pink. That night I was nauseated and had terrible chills, was blistered on my back, shoulders, in the part of my hair, even on the tops of my feet! That was in May of 1979. August sun probably would have put me in the hospital.

979 new covid cases for Sunday in KY. Just 3 weeks ago we were at 300.
Thirty cases were from children five-years-old or younger.

Damn vacations and no masks, etc...
Not going anywhere I do not have to.
Opened up? yep for the virus.

for me I am hunkering down further.
Opening up , eating out, etc? HELL NO!

good thing is looks like I will be able to vote by mail again in November.

Were you living there, or just visiting? I was there in May 79 at NAS Pensacola where the Blue Angels are stationed. Got to see them flying pretty regularly. Pensacola is a beautiful old south part of FL. Friends and I went to New Orleans a few times while I was there. Oh, to be young again.

We were living there, between January 1979 and June 1980! Small world!

My husband was on the management team at York Steak House, at the mall on Davis Dr., and I worked at the University of West Florida. After Pensacola we lived in Baton Rouge for a few months, and then went to Athens, GA.

Home from work. Crazy busy, had about 1.5 hrs OT. Day started off OK, but could not wait to leave. I have finally cooled off some. Not sweating for the first time today.

Weather app on my first break:

Later in the day it said it was hotter than Satan's butthole after taco Tuesday, LOL. Didn't save that one, but laughed pretty hard.

Say no more.

Lexington man tests positive for COVID-19 in March, again in July

"We never think that it's going to happen to us," Hernandez said. "We don't think that it's real until it is real."

In March, it was his own positive test result that made it real for him.

"I felt like I was in a car accident, it was just really intense pain and aches in my bones and muscles," Hernandez said. "I felt like I was preparing for what I thought was going to be my death, I didn't know anybody who had ever had it, nobody really understood it, and I didn't know what to expect."

But in July, he became one of very few who tested positive again.

"This is incredibly rare," ER Physician Dr. Ryan Stanton said. "It's something that's not to be expected as the normal course with COVID-19, but at this point, we don't know how long any type of immunity does last for COVID-19."

Hernandez said the second time, he only felt sick for about two weeks but his breathing problems were worse.

Yes. Here too are those who contracted covid, thought and were diagnosed as recovered, but are still battling it with breathing difficulties and other symptoms that persist and are not going away. This thing is a freak of a whatever it is with many! Its like with many that contracted it, it is a supercharged Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It seems from what I am seeing or gathering that it, this insidious covid, just keeps saying "You think you know me? Think again! Catch me if you can!"
And it's proving itself exactly like the Dr I heard speaking several months ago, recall that? Our conversation, who said he doubted people can build an immunity to this. That any signs of immunity will be short lived. What happened to the infusions you heard and told us were the game changer? People are still dying by the thousands and no life saving transfusions happening like you told us would happen from the quote "real doctors I listen to"! on some med show thing you told me. Recall the conversation about people recovering then being susceptible again we had? And your response to me? Short memory. Now the very thing I tried to convey that a Dr here told everyone about months ago that you blew off you are now showing as some new discovery!

It looks more and more man-made, as in, like an ENGINEERED BIOLOGICAL WEAPON, all the time. Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want, but I swear, it is not natural for this thing to pop up out of the blue like this, all of a sudden, to jump from another species to humans and be so perfectly tailored to just f'k us right up in so many ways.

I doubt we'll ever know the truth of it, whether any government knows or not, but I'm not falling for the bat-virus bullshit.

And I think I just now talked myself right out of giving China another dime of my money for anything. Is that even possible these days? I can sure try.

Good morning!

All is well here. Jessie is learning ballet, lol. She spotted a fly. She was chasing it, of course. Leaping, twirling, all legs extended. All we needed was the music. The fly lived to fight another day, though.

Stay safe and healthy
Fitz was bringing a toy back and forth to me for a while, not exactly fetch. He plays with this "string" on his own, then when he wants it tossed, he'll bring it to one of us. One of these, but the stick is long gone.

1595263336530.png

Luckily, the dog wasn't around. She likes playing catch when we toss it, lol.

Going to work in a little bit. Woke up with a headache, allergies are badddd today. Gonna be a long busy day ahead. Everyone stay safe, be well, be kind (as you can be).

Did morning shift for laid up sister, then went to bank, Krogers and Wally world for weekly shopping.

I had to laugh, the mask ambassador at the door was a security guard and all I saw in store had masks on :)
I was the only one with gloves though.
Oh and they have been selling masks for a while now. $18 for 25 surgical types.

I had to go out for a but this morning.
Luckily the places I went were following a smart protocol.
I'm fine with no mask no enter and then you are on your own when outside and socially distanced.

I'm glad there isn't an outdoor mask rule because it's 100+ degrees here.

I'm smart enough to stay away from people, check people if they come up on me, put my mask on if someone rolls up on me, etc..
it's all common sense stuff.

Going out in Central Florida does raise my paranoia level to maximum spaz level paranoid. :D
There is a fine line between smart & cautious and extreme paranoia.;)

Gonna be near 100F today...argh.

75F at 10AM, the AC is currently in exchanger mode to get the hot air out of the Apt before trying to AC it. We'll survive. Iced coffee is in the fridge....

giphy.gif

Baseball is going on today...summer camp though. Might be fun.

That is mesmerizing. I could sit and watch it all day.

By the way, if there was ever an occasion that called for some Southern sweet tea, this is it. Normally I don't even like it, but I believe I could drink the hell out of some right now. Even with the A/C going in here, it's too warm.

It's 100 damn degrees here, heat index about 110. Heat index was 116 on Sunday. Hubbs complains constantly about the heat, and then won't sit his butt down and stay inside. He could at least wait until a cooler part of the day! Like 8 pm!
