Introduction to
Worm Composting

Free class.

Jimi,
I am constantly looking for an Urban Farmer, make it easier solution, to being a lazy gardener and boy did I find an incredible one. When we landed at our new home my first task was to figure out what to do with our food waste and in my search I stumbled across the most incredible composting system I have ever found. AND that is saying a lot as I have been composting for over 40 years.
Thermophilic or hot composting is complicated and without the proper amount of greens and browns and moisture it often doesn’t work. Then a few decades ago I found worm composting and was excited about the ease of using them to compost…until it came time to harvest. Separating the worms from their castings can be an arduous process.
Then I found the Urban Worm Bag - it is a flow through worm composting bin that looks and acts like a funnel. You add your compost on top and over the months the worms eat and move up the funnel. Then periodically you open the bottom end of the funnel and let the worm castings fall out. YES it is that easy!
In my decades of composting The Urban Worm Bag is the simplest way I have found to Turn compost Into Food for the Soil by Recycling Your Food Waste. What Steve Churchill the Urban Worm Bag inventor is up to is revolutionary. I convinced him to join us this month for a worm composting class.
Please join me for Introduction to Worm Composting where you can learn the ins and outs of the process and how easy it is. Join us Wednesday, May 17th at 4pm AZ&Pacific / 7pm Eastern. If you can't make it live we will send out the recording. Click HERE to register.

Here's my onions, didn't put in as many as I wanted but got some bad seed and was too late to order more. :(

Jimi you can re-grow onions from the bulb ends with the roots left on. I can chase down an article for you if you need it, but it's pretty self explanatory. Leave on enough length to stand them in small cups of water, and when a bunch more roots are on, transfer them into the ground.

I'm not saying you could or would do that every year. It's a lot of work, but just to catch up this time, after getting the bad batch of seeds, it comes from the part of the onions you don't eat anyway. To avoid wasting the edible part you use very small shallow cups to re-root them, like egg cups or small ramekins.

Have you been searching for a model of herbalism that heals all aspects of your being - body, mind, and spirit? 💃 🧠 🧘

There’s a ton of information in the realm of herbalism, but often there’s a separation - some focus on the physical properties of herbs, while others go into their psycho-spiritual effects.

What people need right now is to heal every part of themselves, not just use herbs to patch up their symptoms. You can learn from this ancient system of medicine & spirituality that encompasses not just plant medicine, but also astrology! Even though that might sound like some far out there new age stuff, this is actually incredibly grounded information that’s been in practice for thousands of years.

Our friend Sajah Popham from The School of Evolutionary Herbalism has been studying and practicing Alchemy for a long time now and he’s generously sharing a complementary video series all about it right now. 🎉

The first lesson in the Herbal Alchemy Training Sessions just came out today and it’s all about how you can use the principles of Alchemy to enhance your work with plants and people.

>>> If you want to get in at no cost, just click this link here and you’ll get access to the classes and can download the 50 page workbook he’s also giving away right now.

This will change the way you see plants, people, and the world around you. 🌱 🤝 🌏

Enjoy!

P.S. This training is only available to the public for a brief window, so jump on it if you’re interested in learning Alchemy.

I'm listening to the best music right now with my coffee. The symphony of chirping birds outside my window. I wasn't the only one in this building who likes cats, but became annoyed with all the strays. We think people were dumping them here. They ate up the birds and squirrels, filled our front garden with cat crap, and had loud catfights late at night. We put down dead sago palm fronds on the soil because they have sharp points and edges, which deterred the cats from using the garden as their litter box. Even the landlady helped with that project. I think someone called animal control. The stray cats are gone except for one. Slowly the birds and squirrels are returning. After the yard crew comes each time, I scatter a whole bag of raw unsalted unshelled peanuts for the squirrels. To me, urban wildlife is a part of the charm of gardens.

Fluoride Elevates Heart Disease Risk

Dr. David Brownstein, M.D., writes:

Fluoride is associated with many adverse health outcomes. This is not surprising, as fluoride concentrates in arteries and can attract calcium.

These days, doctors can order coronary calcium scores to evaluate the level of calcium in coronary arteries. They have found that there is a direct correlation between elevated coronary calcium and an increased risk for heart disease. In fact, coronary calcium score is now the single-best test to determine your risk of developing coronary artery disease.

Special: Top Cardiologist Reveals Secret for a Healthy Heart

Aluminum salts are also added to public water supplies to bind contaminants. Aluminum and fluoride can bind together to form aluminum-fluoride. This molecule is very similar to the naturally occurring phosphate ion that is found in DNA and RNA.

Phosphate is also part of the energy storage molecule ATP (the “P” stands for phosphate). Because they are so similar to phosphate ions, aluminum-fluoride ions can interfere with the body’s production and utilization of ATP, and can negatively alter the body’s DNA.

Aluminum-fluoride ions also disrupt communication within the body.

Thousands of scientific studies have shown that aluminum-fluoride ions interfere with multiple signals across cell walls.

Fluorine is also one of the most electronegative elements in the periodic table. That means it is a highly reactive substance — which is one of the reasons it’s used in bomb making, including nuclear bombs.

In addition, because fluoride is such a small molecule, it can easily cross the blood-brain barrier or enter other tissues and organs with little difficulty. So, if fluoride bonds with aluminum or lead, it can cause those metals to accumulate in the body and the brain.
