Hi there,
I hope this message finds you well.
I just wanted to ask you... Have you noticed any of these four warning signs that your liver might be overworked?
  1. Feeling tired more often than usual
  2. Stubborn extra pounds that won't budge
  3. Trouble remembering things
  4. Unexpected mood swings

Actually, number 2 is particularly concerning.
Research shows that stubborn extra pounds, especially around the belly, can be a sign of a struggling liver. When your liver is overworked, it fails to metabolize fats effectively, leading to weight gain.
But here's the exciting news I wanted to share with you...
A time-tested method, trusted for over 2,500 years, is now scientifically recognized to help support liver health!
So imagine yourself enjoying:
  • Easier weight management
  • Sharper memory
  • All-day energy
  • And so much more!
You can do it!
Don't wait until your body's subtle signals become too loud to ignore.
Take the first step towards feeling your best today!

Fertile Soil Yields Best Results for Fibromyalgia

Several years ago, my family and I moved into a beautiful 80-year-old house with a large, but barren, backyard.
Like a good, urban yuppie gardener, I went to Home Depot and purchased the essential tools of the trade – shiny new shovels, rakes, hoes, rubber gardening shoes, and heavy leather gloves.
Wanting to make my backyard a garden paradise, I enlisted the help of Master Gardner William Keith. The following Saturday, William showed up with a truckload of dirt.

“Healthy soil yields a healthy garden,” he said.

Over the next several days, he unloaded and redistributed rich, dark dirt throughout my backyard. Day after day I’d come home ready to plant some roses, jasmine, or maybe a maple tree, and I’d find William in the backyard spreading more dirt. Finally, after a week of daily dirt deliveries, William declared the yard ready for planting.
And plant we did – roses, Carolina jasmine, Confederate jasmine, wisteria, Japanese maples, peach trees, plum trees, Oakleaf hydrangeas, cone flowers, lilies, salvia, rosemary, sage, thyme, and all sorts of perennials.

The result of taking the time to use nutrient-rich soil was easy to see. Simply plant something – anything – and it grew like crazy.

Like a healthy garden, our body is dependent on having the essential nutrients it needs for optimal health. Unfortunately, the typical Western diet falls short of providing the essential nutrients our bodies need to be healthy.
A U.S. Food and Drug Administration study which analyzed over 234 foods over two years found the average American diet to have less than 80 percent of the RDA of one or more of the following: calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, and manganese. Other studies have demonstrated magnesium deficiency in well over 50 percent of the population.
The only way to be sure you’re nutritionally sound is to supplement your diet with the essential nutrients your body needs for optimal health.
Traditional medical doctors often scoff at the notion of taking vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to improve your health, but does anyone suffer from a drug deficiency? Well, of course not. And yet, those with fibromyalgia often end up on a medical merry-go-round, seeing one doctor after another – taking an endless concoction of life-draining, potentially dangerous drugs: drugs to put you to sleep, drugs to wake you up, pain pills, mood-altering drugs (for the side effects of the sleep drugs), sedatives, and muscle relaxants. It just never ends. Drug therapy can be useful; however, merely covering symptoms with drugs often leads to further problems.
Nutrients – not drugs – are what make the hormones that regulate your body. Every essential chemical in your body, including thyroid hormones, testosterone, estrogen, neurotransmitters (serotonin, norepinephrine, etc.), antibodies, adrenaline, cortisol, and white blood cells, are made from vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and amino acids.

Understanding the Financial Burden of Cancer Treatment
Cancer treatment is not only a physical and emotional journey but a significant financial one as well. From diagnostic tests and surgeries to chemotherapy and radiation, the costs can quickly escalate. Many patients find themselves facing immense financial stress, which can be as daunting as the illness itself.

Exploring Complementary Treatments
Integrative, holistic, and functional medicine offer promising pathways to support traditional cancer treatments. These approaches focus on treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and can help reduce side effects, enhance overall well-being, and potentially lower healthcare costs.
  1. Integrative Medicine: Combines conventional treatments with complementary therapies such as acupuncture, yoga, and meditation to improve quality of life and reduce side effects.
  2. Holistic Medicine: Focuses on physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being through lifestyle changes, nutritional support, and stress management techniques.
  3. Functional Medicine: Addresses the root causes of disease with personalized treatment plans, promoting long-term health and reducing the need for ongoing treatments.
The Financial Benefits
While the initial costs of these complementary treatments might seem high, the long-term savings can be substantial. By reducing side effects, decreasing hospital visits, and enhancing overall health, these treatments can help manage costs effectively. Insurance coverage for these treatments is growing, and we recommend checking with your provider to see what options are available.

Can Dental Infections Prevent Your Healing?

The breast-dental connection is so strong that I can confidently say about 90% of my clients have had adverse health effects from mercury-filled amalgams, root canals, infections, cavitations, and other dental toxicities.
This is because your teeth directly connect to your breasts via the meridian system (learn more here), and lymphatic System. They are not disconnected organs that can be drilled, poked, and stuffed with toxic poisons without having an effect on the rest of your body. Teeth, tongue, and gum problems are “hidden culprits.” This is because often they don’t hurt, can’t be seen, and aren’t always accompanied by other sources of infection. Therefore, nontoxic products and dental practices, such as working with biological dentists, are critical to healing breast cancer.
Researchers have found that the risk of breast cancer was 14% higher in those who had periodontal disease. Among women who had quit smoking within the past 20 years, those with periodontal disease had a 36% higher risk of breast cancer. (Please read the full study here.) In a different study with 73,737 postmenopausal women who had breast cancer, 26.1% also had periodontal disease. There is a definite link between breast cancer and oral health, and it is finally getting the research that it deserves.

to facing a colon cancer diagnosis.

In this episode, Jim talks about the family history of cancer on both his mom and dad's side, while coming to the understanding of how "genes load the gun, and lifestyle pulls the trigger". Reflecting back, Jim mentioned that his wife would comment, "You need to watch your diet" and how he'd respond with that he was working out, so he thought he could eat whatever. After years of fast food, chewing tobacco for decades, having worked 7 days a week during 2020-2021 time period, and all that work causing possible hidden stress... Jim see's the truth in how lifestyle matters.

Jim's first colonoscopy of March 2023, and through genetic testing, doctors concluded that Jim had Colon Cancer with signs of Lynch Syndrome and a PALB2 mutation. Through his journey, Jim discusses the practicalities of dietary changes, the emotional highs and lows of medical check-ups, and the role of a supportive family system, specifically the encouragement from a spouse. Prayer and community support are also discussed as pivotal during the healing phase, and HealingStrong's invaluable resources are highlighted as well.

WITH THE WIND WITH DR. PAUL - SHOW 151; Dr. Christine White - Founder of Freedom Pediatrics

Wednesday, 7/10, our 151st episode of With the Wind will be live on DoctorsandScience.com/Shows at 11:30 a.m. PT.

JUL 10
20240710-Show-150-THB
Click to watch the show at 11:30 am Wed!
In his From the Heart segment, Dr. Paul shares a heartfelt message about integrity, inspired by Dr. Christine's courageous journey of questioning long-held beliefs in pediatrics, featured on this week’s show. He commends those who, when faced with new information, choose to do the right – and brave – thing with love and kindness, standing up for a better world for our children and ourselves.

"The most important thing going forward is to know what you believe and to be willing to stand up for what you believe. Because what happened the last four years is not an isolated event. COVID was a dress rehearsal. And you need to know your values and your beliefs and what you want for your children. And you need to start building a group of people that you trust to learn from, to get help from. And you need to do that now. So that when it is needed, you have it"
— Dr. Christine White

In this week’s show, Dr. Paul and DeeDee Hoover interview pediatrician Dr. Christine White. Recently, Dr. Christine transitioned from a big group practice to founding Freedom Pediatrics. She talks about her awakening to the truth of what truly keeps kids healthy. This episode examines the realities of medicine today and what a healthy lifestyle really looks like for children. Don't miss out on valuable advice for both parents and doctors!
In closing, DeeDee emphasizes the importance of compassion, describing it as a deep connection within us that allows us to understand and support others. She highlights that true compassion comes from being fully present and having faith over fear, as demonstrated by Dr. Christine in her approach to pediatric care. This practice of compassion can enable us to rise above the chaos of our circumstances and truly connect with one another.

What is appropriate thyroid "treatment" in the "order of operations"?

Once you identify "hidden hypothyrodism", or if you already knew you had low thyroid system function (low thyroid hormone signaling at the receptors) ...

... what next?

Should you "treat" it?

And if so, how?

First, it's important to keep in mind that there is usually something "upstream" that is causing low thyroid system function and low thyroid hormone signaling.

And "treating" thyroid system function and thyroid hormone signaling is mainly a temporary measure to help in the process of resolving the upstream cause(s).

Once the causes are resolved, thyroid function can normalize, unless the thyroid gland has become too damaged (e.g. by autoimmune disease).

In the context of complex illness when there are other hormonal challenges besides low thyroid system function, it can be tricky to do anything to support thyroid system function, at least in the beginning.

For example, if adrenal hormones and/or sex hormones are low, then increasing thyroid signaling could make symptoms associated with low adrenal and sex hormones worse because thyroid signaling increases metabolic rate and increases the rate at which adrenal and sex hormones are cleared.

So fatigue might increase. Hot flashes might increase.

On the other hand, adrenal and sex hormone production could be low because thyroid signaling and metabolic rate are low.

So it can be challenging to know which move to make ... support thyroid signaling now, or support it later after first supporting adrenal hormone and/or perhaps sex hormone signaling?

Assuming that we have decided to try supporting thyroid system function and thyroid hormone singaling, what are appropriate treatments?

This depends
in part on whether the dysfunction is related to pituitary gland signaling, thyroid gland health, autoimmune thyroid disease, gastrointestinal issues, nutrient deficiencies, toxicities, current life stress, past trauma, or other factors.

Ways of supporting thyroid system function and signaling could include ...

  1. Nervous system regulation (e,g, increasing ventral vagal tone)
  2. Homeopathics targeting the pituitary gland and/or thyroid gland
  3. Botanicals that support thyroid gland function, increase thyroid hormone conversion enzymes (e.g. for conversion of T4 to T3), or reduce thyroid autoimmune antibody production
  4. Pituitary and/or thyroid glandulars
  5. Synthetic thyroid hormones
  6. Taking more of certtain nutrients needed for proper thyroid hormone function
  7. Sometimes restrcting the intake of certain nutrients involved in thyroid hormone production
  8. Bioenergetic treatments
The key is to have enough information about the whole of what is happening in the body and in the thyroid system.

Exploring the Potential of Peptide Therapy in
Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment
Peptides have demonstrated a wide range of potential applications in addressing various aspects of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). While the exact cause of ASD remains unknown, it's believed to involve a complex interplay of genetic, environmental, and potentially infectious factors.

Regardless of the underlying cause, many individuals with ASD may benefit from therapies that modulate the immune system and reduce inflammation. Additionally, more targeted approaches using antimicrobial and neuro-related peptides show promise in addressing specific symptoms or associated conditions.
Impediments & Roadblocks to Successful Detoxification
with Dr. Eric Gordon
It feels like everywhere you look, there is another detox program promoting amazing results for a vibrant, healthy lifestyle. Yet, for our patients with chronic illness, detoxing is not a simple undertaking. It can create more problems than it solves if the protocol is not adapted to the patient’s specific needs.

Maybe you’ve tried detoxing in the past, either on your own or with the guidance of a practitioner, and found that you were only met with roadblocks. You may feel the same or worse after the effort. There are many reasons why your body could be resistant to releasing these toxins.
When creating a detox plan for patients, we look at the whole system for potential blockages. For example, problems in the gut, like constipation, keep toxins from leaving the body and then recirculating. Parasites, SIBO, and other factors can also contribute. This, in turn, stresses out the liver and the problem becomes increasingly systemic. We have to look at all organs and connective tissue with the same comprehensive network approach to our diagnostic process.

Helping the body ease into removing the toxic burden is just one of many challenges we face when it comes to healing from chronic illness.

This is why Dr. Eric Gordon chose to participate in Rebel Health Tribe’s Toxicity & Detoxification Masterclass, kicking off Friday, July 19th. They have brought together the world’s leading experts to empower you with the knowledge and action steps you need in order to protect yourself (and your family) from daily exposure to unavoidable toxins.

The WHO states that about 1 in 5 people develop cancer in their lifetime worldwide, and those numbers are almost at 1 in 2 people in the US.

Without mincing words, cancer is that one menace that nearly everyone has had to battle or see up close in their own lives or with their family members.

But what if you don’t have to lose this battle? What if a powerful ingredient from nature could potentially help you stand a winning chance? What if there was something that could tip the scales in your favor?

Introducing beta-glucan - The powerhouse in the fight against Cancer!

Beta Glucan has been shown to help empower people’s immune systems so their bodies are more able to fight against cancer.

This supplement modulates the immune system by enhancing its ability to respond to various challenges. It works by stimulating the activity of macrophages, neutrophils, and natural killer cells, which are crucial for fighting off infections and diseases, including cancer.

Additionally, beta-glucan can help in slowing down the aging process and maintaining a healthy immune response…

For those battling cancer, a strong immune system is crucial, and Beta Glucan can be a powerful ally in this fight.

Seeing how effective Beta-glucan can be, I had an exclusive interview with AJ Lanigan, an expert in immune health, where we delved deep into the role Beta-glucan may play in preventing cancer and helping the body fight it.

What You'll Learn and Why This Matters:

  • The Science Behind Beta Glucan: Understand how these complex carbohydrates, derived from highly purified fibers, can slow aging and maintain a healthy immune response.
  • Real Results: Hear firsthand how individuals, myself included, have transformed their health with Beta Glucan.
  • Empowering Your Health: Learn how to take control of your health by strengthening your immune system.
If you’re interested in a natural way to support your body’s defenses and complement traditional cancer treatments, then you should watch this interview.

Yours in health,

Dear Jimi ,

When it comes to managing cancer and chronic diseases, early detection is critical. Recognizing the symptoms and seeking timely medical advice can significantly improve treatment outcomes and quality of life.

In this newsletter, we delve into the most important symptoms to watch for and the latest research on early detection methods.

The Importance of Early Detection
Early detection of cancer and chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and autoimmune disorders can lead to more effective treatments, less aggressive therapies, and higher survival rates. According to the American Cancer Society, early-stage detection of certain cancers can have a five-year survival rate of over 90% (Cancer Info Hub).

Common Symptoms to Watch For
Cancer Symptoms:
  1. Unexplained Weight Loss: Losing 10 pounds or more without trying can be an early sign of cancer, especially cancers of the pancreas, stomach, esophagus, or lung.
  2. Fever: Persistent fever can indicate an infection but is also common in cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma.
  3. Fatigue: Extreme tiredness that doesn’t improve with rest can be an early symptom of leukemia or colon and stomach cancers.
  4. Pain: Persistent pain, particularly in the bones or other areas, can be a sign of various types of cancer.
Chronic Disease Symptoms:
  1. Persistent Cough or Shortness of Breath: This can be a symptom of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or heart disease.
  2. Chest Pain: A warning sign of heart disease, which can also manifest as pressure, tightness, or discomfort in the chest.
  3. Frequent Infections: Common in diabetes, where high blood sugar levels can weaken the immune system.
  4. Chronic Pain: Ongoing pain can be a symptom of diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or fibromyalgia.
  5. Changes in Skin: Such as darkening, yellowing, or persistent itching, which can indicate liver disease or other chronic conditions.
Early Detection Strategies
Cancer:
  • Screening Tests: Regular screenings such as mammograms, colonoscopies, and Pap tests are crucial. The American Cancer Society recommends starting these tests at age 45 for average-risk individuals (Cancer Info Hub).
  • Genetic Testing: For those with a family history of cancer, genetic testing can identify mutations that increase risk.
Chronic Diseases:
  • Regular Check-Ups: Routine blood tests can help detect conditions like diabetes and high cholesterol early.
  • Lifestyle Monitoring: Keeping track of symptoms and lifestyle changes can provide early clues to chronic disease development.

To dive deeper into this critical topic, we invite you to watch an excerpt from one of our Live Q&A Ask the Experts interview with Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy.

Dr. Connealy shares invaluable insights on how early cancer detection and prevention strategies can save lives.

Watch the YouTube video here.

Stay Informed and Proactive
Staying informed about the symptoms and early detection methods for cancer and chronic diseases can make a significant difference. Make sure to consult with healthcare professionals regularly and consider participating in recommended screenings.

Dr. Crandall: Start This Diet Now to Reverse Heart Disease

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. for both men and women.

And this deadly disease can strike anyone. With no family history and no warning signs, at age 48, world-famous cardiologist Chauncey Crandall, M.D., suffered a heart attack.

Editor’s Note: Unlock the Secrets to a Stronger Heart: The Simple Heart Cure Diet

It was then that the New York Times bestselling author — and director of preventive medicine at the Palm Beach Cardiovascular Clinic in Florida — began his journey to cure his heart disease.

Crandall’s most recent book, “The Simple Heart Cure Diet & Meal Plan,” describes the diet that he personally adopted that allowed him to lose weight and reverse his heart disease.

“What I have found over my 30 years of practice is we can simplify the diet a little bit … we can be more realistic … a diet that people can have compliance with,” Crandall tells Newsmax’s “Newsline.”

“This diet is really the Mediterranean diet,” explains Crandall, editor of the popular "Dr. Crandall's Heart Health Report" newsletter.

Special: Transform Your Heart Health with Dr. Crandall's Proven Plan

The Mediterranean diet emphasizes minimally processed, plant-based foods including fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, whole grains, olive oil, and fish. Plus, smaller amounts of eggs, dairy, and lean meats.

Research has shown that following the Mediterranean diet lowers the risk for heart disease and diabetes. One 12-year study, published in JAMA Network Open, found that people who most closely followed the Mediterranean diet had a 25% reduced risk for cardiovascular events, including heart attack and stroke, compared to those who did not adhere to the diet.

“The Simple Heart Cure Diet & Meal Plan” provides food lists you can buy in your grocery store and recipes for the whole family. “If you follow the diet, you will have success in losing weight … and the important thing is we can actually reverse heart disease,” says Crandall.

Editor’s Note: Top Cardiologist Reveals Secret for a Healthy Heart

“If you follow the principles in this book and you exercise, sleep well, lower stress, you can have a long life,” explains Crandall.

“It is possible, but we need to begin, just like I did when I was 48.”

Hey Jimi,
Taste the rainbow! While spring rolls are typically deep-fried, summer rolls are lighter and fresher, allowing the filling to really shine. You'll love these fresh & healthy vegan rainbow summer rolls.
Chewy noodles, aromatic herbs, and loads of colorful veggies join forces to make a deeply satisfying appetizer or entrée, no matter the season.
If you want to go all out and make blue noodles to include the full color spectrum, a touch of butterfly pea tea powder offers natural food coloring without any off-flavors, but is highly optional.
No matter what it looks like, everything is delicious when you dip it in the sweet & spicy peanut sauce anyway!

Why Some “Forever Chemicals” Slip Through Our Skin
Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often referred to as “forever chemicals,” are found in many products that touch our skin, from cosmetics to clothing. Now, for a recent study published in Environmental International, scientists have determined why our skin “drinks in” some chemicals more easily than others.
For this study, researchers exposed artificial human skin models to 17 different PFAS dissolved in methanol, at a concentration of 500 nanograms per square centimeter, for 24 to 36 hours. Then, they measured where these PFAS ended up: whether they were absorbed into the skin, remained on the skin's surface, or stayed within the skin tissue.
The study also showed that the ability of PFAS to pass through the skin depended on their chemical properties, like how fat-soluble they were. There was a clear relationship: the more fat-soluble the PFAS, the less that was absorbed into the skin. Plus, they found that PFAS chemicals made up of longer chain molecules were less likely to penetrate the skin, yet a significant portion was found within the skin tissue after exposure.
This study underscores the importance of looking at the ingredients in any product that touches your skin, including skin creams, cosmetics, waterproof clothing, stain-resistant fabrics, and more. If you’re uncertain if a product contains PFAS, it’s important to contact the manufacturer.

9 Powerful Ways Cinnamon Can Improve Your Health
Cinnamon is more than a tasty spice—it contains a powerhouse of health benefits. Extracted from the bark of Cinnamomum trees, it’s packed with potent plant compounds like cinnamaldehyde, which has anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic effects. Plus, consuming cinnamon regularly can benefit your heart and brain health.
One of the most powerful benefits of cinnamon is its ability to help lower blood sugar. Research shows it helps to slow the breakdown of carbohydrates after a meal, which helps to reduce post-meal blood sugar spikes. Plus, several studies have shown it may reduce fasting blood sugar levels and even mimic insulin, making it especially helpful for people with Type 2 diabetes.
This potent spice has also been well-studied for its heart health benefits. Just half a teaspoon daily may reduce total cholesterol and “bad” LDL cholesterol levels, as well as potentially helping to raise “good” HDL cholesterol. Plus, studies suggest that just two grams daily (about one teaspoon) of this potent spice can help to lower blood pressure.
Research even suggests that cinnamon oil, which is found in some kinds of toothpaste and mouthwashes, could reduce the bacteria that cause dental plaque. Here’s what you need to know about the many health benefits of cinnamon.

Following a Planetary Health Diet May Extend Your Life
Sustainable eating habits not only benefit the planet but may extend human lifespans. Dear Jimi ,

Making informed choices about your diet and daily habits can significantly impact your health and well-being.

Today let's explore how lifestyle and dietary changes can help you manage and even prevent chronic diseases.

The Impact of Lifestyle on Health
Research has shown that lifestyle factors such as diet, physical activity, and stress management play a critical role in the prevention and management of chronic diseases and cancer.

According to the World Health Organization, up to 80% of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes cases, and over 40% of cancer cases, could be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices (American Medical Association).
Dietary Changes for Better Health

Anti-Inflammatory Diet:
Chronic inflammation is a common underlying factor in many chronic diseases, including cancer. An anti-inflammatory diet focuses on consuming foods that reduce inflammation in the body. This includes:
  • Fruits and Vegetables: Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Whole Grains: Such as oats, brown rice, and quinoa.
  • Healthy Fats: Found in avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil.
  • Lean Proteins: Including fish, poultry, and legumes.
  • Herbs and Spices: Like turmeric, ginger, and garlic, known for their anti-inflammatory properties (Cancer Hub) (American Medical Association).
Plant-Based Diet:
A plant-based diet emphasizes whole, unprocessed plant foods, and has been linked to lower risks of cancer and chronic diseases. It includes:
  • Vegetables: A variety of colors and types.
  • Fruits: Especially berries, which are high in antioxidants.
  • Legumes: Beans, lentils, and peas.
  • Nuts and Seeds: For healthy fats and protein.
  • Whole Grains: Like brown rice, barley, and quinoa (American Medical Association).
Lifestyle Changes for Disease Management
Regular Physical Activity:
Engaging in regular physical activity helps to maintain a healthy weight, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise per week (Cancer Hub).

Stress Management:
Chronic stress can exacerbate chronic diseases and impact cancer progression. Incorporate stress-reducing practices such as:
  • Meditation: Daily mindfulness or meditation sessions.
  • Yoga: Combining physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation.
  • Adequate Sleep: Ensuring 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night.
