Scientist Says We Should Treat COVID-19 as an Acute Inflammatory Disease

Yep it is with many.
And several have long term complications.
It is not "just the flu".

the medical experts are still learning about covid but are sure it is far more than the flu.
And I suspect that once cold weather arrives we will learn just how well it is transmitted by airborne means.

Hey everyone. Happy Sunday.

Today I'm going to tell you about a few things I'm into these days.

1. Micronutrient I'm digging into: Boron.

Boron, I'm realizing, is a really important nutrient that most people aren't getting. There are trace amounts of some foods and moderate amounts in others, particularly plants and fermented adult beverages, but little to none in meat and dairy. It also used to be present in certain regions' drinking water, but it's removed now.

Boron improves wound healing, bone formation and health, increases free testosterone and normalizes estrogen, reduces inflammatory biomarkers like IL-6 and CRP, and increases endogenous antioxidant activity (glutathione and superoxide dismutase). It even protects against pesticide toxicity and potentially increases NAD+, which if borne out should improve longevity and reduce aging.

There's a great liquid supplement from Trace Minerals. Some people use very small amounts of borax. I haven't tried that internally so I can't comment, but you can absorb a good amount through your skin by soaking your feet in warm water mixed with a spoonful or two of borax.

2. Activity I've been loving: Floating in the waves.

I've been spending some time in LA lately, and I gotta say: it's really, really nice just floating out there in the waves. You get in that sweet spot where you ride the crest of the wave up high into the air and avoid the break, letting the waves take you up so it's like you're looking down on the beach. The waves in Miami aren't quite the same, but it's still nice there too.

It's a nice break from constantly having to "do" something out on the water. Sometimes you just need to be there. Plus, great way to get low level cold exposure and a salty mineral bath.

3. Other activity I've been loving: Lying in the hot sand right after swimming.

Every kid loves to do this and every parent hates when their kids does it. You get out of the freezing cold water, dripping wet, and flop down on the hot dry sand. The sand gets everywhere but it's so warm. There's nothing better and more infuriating. Cause even when you'd get hosed down before going in the house you'd still end up depositing a quarter cup of sand on the bathroom floor or your bed. Oh well, it's just a little sand. You'll live. And luxuriating in hot sand is truly living.

Just be prepared to find sand in your hair a week later.

Okay, what about you? What are you into? Any cool TV shows, books, or movies? Any new activities you've been liking?

Hi Jimi,

Have you ever noticed that the happiest, most successful people have one major thing in common? I’m talking about high energy.

The people I know with the most energy seem to get the most enjoyment out of life.

But most of us can relate to feeling depleted, tired, moody, and having a hard time getting going in the morning. It’s not a lack of willpower or motivation that leads to low-energy. It's because we’re up against energy thieves that are hiding everywhere from our immune system to the air we breathe, the food we eat, even our microbiome.

When I had mercury toxicity many years ago, I was completely drained of energy and it impacted every other aspect of my health, including my gut.

When we don’t have the right balance of gut flora to create a healthy microbiome, we’re going to feel fatigued and mentally "off." That’s because our microbiome strongly influences our mitochondria—the body's energy factories. When they’re depleted, we feel depleted.

Dealing with our energy thieves is the first step towards getting that vitality we’re after. That means pinpointing toxicity and nurturing a healthy microbiome, but there’s so much more we can do, too.

My friends Dr. Pedram Shojai and Nick Polizzi tell us how in their new documentary EXHAUSTED!: How To Regain, Restore and Replenish The "Endless Energy" You Thought Had Been Lost Forever. I was honored to be a part of it and share my own story, along with many other experts who have personally beat their own energy thieves.

In it, you’ll learn:

  • 10 ways you may be unknowingly depleting your energy reserves
  • Why your gut holds the key to vitality and how to balance your microbes
  • The best and worst times to eat for optimal fat burning and energy production
  • Which foods flush out toxins, defend against chronic disease, and boost energy
  • How to balance hormones for stress management and weight loss
  • Everything you need to know about testing, plus overcoming energy obstacles with natural at-home remedies
  • And so much more!
The 9-part series premieres on August 18 at 9 pm EST and it’s completely free to watch for a limited time. Just register right here to join!

I know how awful it feels to be completely lacking in energy. It impacts your entire life and stops you from doing the things you love. There is so much we can do to change that at any age—I hope you’ll join me to learn how.

Heart Attacks Drop by One-Third
A groundbreaking new study holds heartening news for older Americans.

Since the mid-1990s, the number of seniors who suffered a heart attack or died from one dropped dramatically — evidence that campaigns to prevent heart attacks and improve patient care are paying off, Yale University researchers said.

The efforts have focused on lifestyle changes, including adoption of healthy eating habits and getting more exercise. They have also helped patients reduce their blood pressure and cholesterol, two key contributors to heart attacks.

Special: 4 Signs Your Heart Is Quietly Failing

In-hospital care is also better now than it was in the 1990s, said lead researcher Dr. Harlan Krumholz, a professor of cardiology. Patients who arrive at the hospital with a heart attack are now treated within minutes, using procedures to open blocked arteries, rather than the hour it used to take, he noted.

And more patients are leaving the hospital with prescriptions for blood pressure drugs, aspirin, and statins, which help prevent a repeat heart attack.

Dear Jimi,

You’re likely pretty aware of the skyrocketing rates of obesity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases in adults.

BUT – what’s even more alarming is what is happening to children.

Kids in America are in serious trouble.

Even if you personally don’t have kids of your own – maybe your little ones have grown up, or you have a nephew or niece, or friends with kids – this issue is becoming a matter of urgent concern for the future of life on Earth.

The CDC estimates over 25% of kids now have a chronic disease.

Many experts believe this number is actually much closer to 50%!

The junk food industry, and our dependence on pharmaceutical approaches for conditions that are better addressed through diet and lifestyle changes...is leading our population quite literally to the cliff’s edge.

Many parents are recognizing it is time to turn to nutritional, naturopathic, holistic, herbal, or integrative medicine is the best approach to address the root causes of what’s plaguing our children.

To learn more about this approach, here is an event I want you to sign up for:

The Integrative Pediatrics Summit, starting August 12th!

The event is hosted by pediatrician, Dr. Joel “Gator” Warsh and award-winning filmmaker Rob Herring.

Their combined passion for health, nutrition, and environmental activism, powered by their open-minded approach to integrative modalities, offers you one of the most diverse and thorough perspectives on pediatric wellness from a multitude of approaches.

Dozens of wellness experts, doctors and best-selling authors will chat with celebrity parents on diet, nutrition, exercise, gut health, autoimmunity, sleep, mental wellness and much more. Tune in to learn more about:

  • How to avoid common mistakes that lead to illness and chronic disease...
  • Pediatric Immune and Viral Support
  • Tools you need to improve your family's health.
  • Setting your children up for success as early in their lives as possible…
  • Integrative approaches to anxiety and stress…
  • Avoiding toxins in child products…
  • What you need to know about pediatric gut health…
  • Healing foods for kids…
  • Teaching children to cook…

...and so many more topics!

You don’t want to miss this event! (Don’t forget. It’s 100% FREE.)

Join the movement Aug 12th, 2020 and learn how to provide optimal health to your children and family.

LUCK
There is SO MUCH I feel lucky for in my life. My relationship, my family, my friends, that I survived cancer, that I caught it when I did, that I am able to feel the way about my experience with cancer that I do, without resentment or anger and with gratitude for what I've learned from it.

But, I know that a lot of what I feel lucky for, other people don't have or aren't able to feel the same way about. Why me and not them? Why does someone else get diagnosed with stage four breast cancer where others catch it much earlier? It doesn't seem fair.

I am lucky and privileged that I am able to feel about cancer the way that I do, and I often think about how I would feel if I did have a later stage diagnosis instead. Would I still feel gratitude? Would I still feel it had taught me a lot and would they be things I still felt happy to have learned? Would I be as easily able to find the "gifts" of cancer, to call them gifts while it also took so much more? I have lost a lot to cancer: my dad, my aunt, my life in the "before times". But I am also acutely aware that I could have lost so much more. Why didn't I?

Is it all luck, or is it something more? Is there a reason that I am still here and healthy while so many others are not? I don't know, and I don't know that it's something we can ever be certain about. All I am certain of is that I never want to lose sight of how lucky I am. Regardless of why, I am lucky enough to be here right now, and so are you. We must make the absolute most of that, because whether or not there is a bigger reason for why, we are here and so we can.

Luck can be awful when you feel like you don’t have it. Appreciate it when you feel it’s on your side, never stop listing those things for which you feel lucky for, and find ways, however small, to make use of the luck you have where others don't. Lend a hand, make a meal for someone who needs it, thank that store clerk behind the plexiglass and a mask who has been working their butt off since the beginning of all of this. Spread the love and spread the good; you never know when something you can offer easily may just change someone else's luck.

Happy Healing ❤️

Inspiration
We fear the unknown not because it is an inherently scary place, but because we are creatures of comfort and routine and we project our fears into it. But the thing about comfort and routine is that neither pushes us to challenge the ruts we may have been living in, and if we don't challenge the ruts, how can we ever hope to get out of them?

Cancer was just about the scariest unknown I have ever encountered, but one thing it made me realize is that I was a bit of an unknown to myself. I didn't know who and all I could be until I found myself in the midst of an unpredictable storm that forced me to find the strengths, skills, and determination I needed to heal, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. In finding them, I found myself.

It's still a process, that's for sure, an acquainting that will continue all my life. But there's something really exciting in that, in knowing there will always be more to know.

Happy Healing ❤️

Of the 100 TRILLION cells in your gut...

An astonishing 70-80% are immune-related.

The problem is, everyone talks about immunity like it’s some big mystery.

Immunity is most improved through the gut. And it’s most damaged by toxins that make their way into the gut...

That’s why you’re going to LOVE this new detox webclass with the legendary David "Avocado" Wolfe, the Godfather of the modern superfoods movement...

David has been preaching a message of detox, super nutrition, and gut health for 2 decades now—and his talks have been seen by millions all over the world.

Now he’s teaching a time-sensitive webclass with another leading detox authority, Warren P. Phillips, M.S.—and you don’t want to miss it:

>> Boost Immunity, Metabolism and Beauty—By Detoxifying Your Microbiome [new webinar]

David’s research reveals that most people have scary levels of toxins in their microbiome.

And study after study is now showing that the presence of environmental toxins HEAVILY influences your gut bacteria (and entire microbiome).

The good news: you can get these toxins OUT of your gut rapidly... upgrade your microbiome health... and positively transform every visible (and invisible) part of your body, from head to toe...

You’ll discover how to do this and so much more in this exclusive webclass with living health legend, David Wolfe right here.

Dear Jimi,
In Biological Medicine - the topic of my upcoming (very unique) speaker series - we look at the body as a system of ...systems - rather than a set of symptoms to be interrupted or hammered away at.
It may amaze you to learn that many of the systems - and what influences them to inspire rejuvenation and health - are actually still being discovered.
Your extracellular matrix (aka the ECM) is part of your “fascia” - the connective tissues in your body. The ECM is more widely thought of as the space between cells. This “space” moves the cell secretions of hormones, nutrients and waste products around the body.
Together, your fascia and extracellular matrix are how the body connects systems, communicates and self-regulates between your immune system, endocrine system, nervous system and lymphatic system.
And it is KEY to keeping the organism that you are working in symphony. The extracellular matrix and fascia not only transports materials in and out of the cell, but also acts as a storage area and buffer between cells and toxins in the body.
This is a key part of the body fluid balance, as well as immunological surveillance of the lymphatic system. Based on decades of research, Sophia Flow™ Cream is designed to be used transdermally, to support this “symphony of systems”, remove lymphatic congestion and create detoxification pathways.
Developed to maximize the effects of the microbiologically-enhanced molecules*, Sopha Flow Cream™ contains vegetable oil that is naturally rich in oleic acid (the active principle of olive oil whose benefits have been known for millennia) and sunflower phospholipids rich in phosphatidylcholine, the most abundant phospholipid in the cell membrane, where it plays a key role in cellular signaling.

Papaya Packed Full of Nutrients

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

Papayas, a tropical fruit that originated in Central America, are packed full of nutrients, including vitamin C, folate, potassium, fiber, and vitamins A, E, and K, along with antioxidant flavonoids.

Papaya promotes good digestion and helps prevent colon cancer. Its fiber helps bind with and rid your body of cancer-causing toxins in the colon.

Special: The Shocking Truth About Magnesium

Papaya is also rich in lycopene, known to prevent damage to DNA and fight prostate cancer. Studies have shown that men who eat the most lycopene-rich fruit and vegetables were an incredible 82% less likely to develop prostate cancer.

The nutrients in papaya also help prevent the oxidation of cholesterol in your body — important because when cholesterol is oxidized it can stick to the walls of blood vessels and cause arterial plaque.

The enzymes in papaya also help lower inflammation in the body, beneficial for people with asthma, osteoarthritis, or rheumatoid arthritis.

Papaya is rich in vitamins A and C that help keep your immune system functioning at its optimum level.

Eating papaya helps prevent macular degeneration, the most common cause of vision loss among the elderly. The lungs also receive protection against secondhand smoke.

Dr. Crandall's Heart Health Report

Do Healthy Seniors Benefit From Aspirin?
By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

Daily low-dose aspirin is recommended for heart attack survivors or people at increased risk, but up to now experts have discouraged the practice for aging individuals in good health.
A recent review suggests that some healthy seniors and middle-aged adults might gain a bit of benefit from taking daily aspirin.
Special: 4 Medical Doctors Made a Surprising Discovery
Low-dose aspirin decreases the risk of heart attack and stroke even in those without any heart health problems, British researchers report. However, the protective effect is "quite small," and carries with it an increased risk of serious bleeding, said lead researcher Dr. Sean Zheng.
To see whether daily aspirin might benefit a broader range of people, Zheng and his colleagues gathered data from 13 clinical trials involving more than 164,000 people. Half were younger than 62, and half older.
The trial data showed that aspirin decreased the absolute risk of heart attack, stroke, or death from heart disease by 0.38%, which is a statistically significant finding. At the same time, aspirin increased the absolute risk of major bleeding by 0.47%.
"In those without cardiovascular disease, this study shows that really it is an individual decision regarding whether to take aspirin or not," Zheng said. "It all depends on how the patient values prevention of cardiovascular events [heart attacks and strokes] over potentially serious bleeding [including intracranial]."
Zheng emphasized that this analysis focused on healthy people who've never had a heart attack or stroke.
