Oh man I hate thieves. Id put a dye bomb in it to ruin everything in their houses and dye them head to foot.

Does no good. We had a guy dyed orange for four years, rob us blind. So even if people see a thief dyed up, thieves still thieve. Some thieves have the audacity to thieve in plain sight on a clear day.

There's leadership by example for you. Although that is a tool the same as technology and it isn't the fault of the tool but the intention of the user. I still believe leadership by example is a proper means to an ends.

I think people like this deserve being dropped in a deep hole. We might recall to feed them by dropping food waste in every now and then, or maybe not. Doesn't matter, they can be forgotten as long as what they did isn't.

Took advantage of a few hours of sunshine to move a shrub on the side of the garage and turn over the garden. Now off to the Market for a couple of things.

So I had an interesting morning. Filled up with gas and I am paying 80¢ more per Gallon since that A-Hole canceled the XL Pipeline. Then at the Bank I find a shitload of money in my Checking Account so I have to come home and make sure I paid my bills~! Turns out the US Treasury did a Direct Deposit which I never Authorized?? WTF? Found Tire and Wheel cleaner at the 99¢ Store for $1.49 and bought 4 bottles.

A) the majority of it was to be shipped over seas any way
B) it was to ship Tar sand which ends up much more expensive
C) supply and demand... Saudi and russia reduced the supply
D) some texass refineries were damaged during the storms further reducing the supply

covid shutdowns reduced demand....prices drop.....returning to normal increases demand , prices rise
E) greed
it happened in '73 and again in'77

Russia recently threatened to bleed OPEC by selling oil for $5 a barrel. Yes, they can/could do that. Considering we (globally) reached peak oil five years ago, we (globally) can continue seeing a volatile oil/gas market.

Im going to start riding my bike. Problem solved! :D

I've never driven, at least not cars/pickups. Still there's a lot else in life that relies on petrol for me. For example the keyboard here has a lot of plastic made from petrol/oil.

Not sure if we're on the WV hydro-electric. If not well that probably requires petrol at some point. We often eat from restaurants, that requires petrol based stuff.

I use petrol made silicone bottles in my mods. The mods require some too. Takes energy to create chemicals for vaping juice and that likely in part if not all comes from petrol.

So, am aware there's much we rely on petrol for here. Would really love to start using hemp based plastics, fuels, textiles. insulation. For now using hemp comes at an extra expense.

Oil is on its way out though. I've no delusions it is staying around. People will have to transition to an oil-less future.

Got to appreciate Henry Ford. Then you also need good insulated houses. Of course, you'll want to dress well.

Hope those can help maybe open eyes to the value of hemp. Maybe it can also convey the fact that hemp could possibly fill the void of oil in many aspects of living. Will not go so far to say it can but there's a strong possibility it could.

Hemp can also be used for paper that lasts far longer than regular pulp wood paper. It can be used for ropes, ship sails. Hemp very well could also replace tobacco as the king of cash crops.

I have looked into growing it here. There's still far too much room for error and too much regulation and seeming trigger happy Federal agents waiting on slight errors.

You can read that as if the D.E.A catches you having over 0.030 THC content they'll bust you instantly, seize your land and use it for government revenue. You can grow outside but bless your soul should someone's illicit crop blow over to your legal one. That will not excuse you.

You also need to buy seed only from D.E.A authorized co-ops. So while it is legal in WV to grow hemp, it's a very restrictive and gambling process. You also need to have been growing a commercial crop seven years before starting out.

Ultimately it is still a seeming game of haves versus have not/s. It doesn't "level" the field at all despite being a good "sound byte" to say the government is "working" to "level" the economy. This is why I lost interest in making an attempt to start growing hemp in our 2.5 acre bottom land. Even that if grown and rotated out each season would bring in a fair source of income.

No, not worth it when you need to walk a tight rope covered with razors. Sure I could just go on ahead and pull a DIY but there's still a risk, more so as I'm sure the D.E.A would show up just the seed were being put in. And since I'd not be abiding the "laws", well you get the picture I'm sure. Can we all say Whiskey Rebellion?

Been going out in short spurts running the weed eater, this week. All in I may have gotten about four hours work. That's fine though. I got more still to do. That's fine too. It's an ongoing process until about mid October. Once I get it all done, have to go back and start all over.

Yes I probably could get started about 10 AM and go until about 6 PM. I might get it all done in a day that way. There's no point doing it that way because doing so would put a person down for three days after. We got hillside here that in places gets to be about an 80 degree incline.

You go up such hills as though you're drunk even if your not. There's no thinking about it, you just go and do it. If you think about it you risk falling. You learn the hill and its footholds but those unfortunately can change and yes sometimes day to day.

This is why we all agree it's better to not "go at it" hard doing the weed clearing. There's no point "killing yourself" over it. And it's been suggested we could spray with Round Up. That isn't a good solution for us either. Burning off hills really isn't either. In fact it more likely would make growth worse.

Been out this early this year because I figured on getting ahead of it. Ha! Some luck I've had. It's already taken a good start. Ought to start when it's still Winter proper, but then that really doesn't work out either. Oh well, be what'll be. :)

So I scraped, sanded and painted the railing on the Front Porch. Then I put Turf Builder with Crabgrass and Weed Preventer on the Lawns. Went to see what my neighbor was doing and he spent all day replacing the gasket on the bottom of his garage door. He says to me here do you want this and it was a whole box of the gasket material that he said he bought for his but it was too wide and he is throwing it out~! I took it and checked mine and it was the right size. So 2 hours of work and now I have a new gasket on the bottom of the door which was on my To Do list~!

Tired and a little sore but got lots of fresh air and sunshine so life is good. After 3 Heineken's and a Glass of Red Wine even better~!

How is your back feeling @Don29palms ?
My back is doing much better. Thanks. Had to wait another week to get the staples out and that happened yesterday. The biggest problem now is I can feel my knees again where the nerves were pinched off. Arthritis is back and it's looking like they might be next to be replaced. We will see.

Finally got a semi break in the weather, unfortunately the only 'weather' I've had around here the past 3 weeks is rain. When your ground is majority clay makes for a nice sloppy slip and slide mud pit. Started cutting wood I picked up for garden planters at the beginning of the month. Working on a strawberry tower, so far so good mostly. The bigger pain in the ass is realizing at some point I tossed out part of my combination square with compass so using the more crude angle marks on the speed square working out compound miter joints. Oh well, close enough should work. Got the base pieces cut and temporarily fixed to the 4 uprights of the pyramid, need to get the shelves/baskets made and slip over top. Will finish securing the bottom when I get it more level than the ground I'm currently working on.

Still have to get some other pieces cut and get the posts and top sunk in for a raised tomato trellis. The stakes I used last year weren't really tall enough or sturdy enough. Think I'll have enough cedar left over to build another raised bed. Need to grab a cattle panel yet so I can extend the garden and make room to try melons again. Didn't have enough room last year and melons take up a lot of ground space. On the bright side where I plan to put them is hard clay, too hard to dig in and plant direct anyway so may as well use it for floor space to let the melons roam.

Need to get some teepees built for beans and refigure a trellis for the cucumbers. The one last year was 'meh'. Might even dig up another patch and grow some corn, see how that turns out. Not like I need a whole lot of it but having worked on a corn farm when I was younger and just having a small patch of stalks is going to feel ridiculous. Like growing a single radish. lol. Oh well, I like sweet corn but not only don't have the room, wouldn't know what to do with hundreds of acres of the stuff.
