Meant to tell you, I got my new glasses the other day (ordered from eyebuydirect). My script changed a little bit, and I knew it needed to because I was having a time seeing some things. My right eye needed more correction for distance vision, and both eyes needed more correction for close-up.

I know a lot of folks would never order glasses over the Internet, but this is my third pair from this company. The other two pair I ordered in 2016, and they have held up exceptionally well. A lot of companies sell Chinese-made specs, but these are made in the US.

It has taken me a few days to get used to the new ones (with progressives, I think it always does take some getting used to when the prescription changes) but I am loving them.

Cost me $80 and some change. I'll be ordering another pair next week, because now I have a coupon for 50% off designer frames and 20% off lenses. Might make them sunglasses - I enjoy having prescription sunglasses.

@SteveS45 I am cheap as well, usually. What sucks even worse is I have only had about 3 cups of coffee in the last month or so. Not sure why to be honest.

@nadalama I have been putting off getting glasses for years although I probably (most likely) do need them. I guess I am just lazy. Well there is no guessing to that actually. If I should decide to take the plunge into better vision I should go to an optometrist at first, right? It feels like I should know the answer to this, but I probably do not.

I am not cheap I just can't pay for a cup of coffee at a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. $4 or so and even at a Deli these days they charge like $2~!

If you've never had an eye exam at all, I'd recommend you go to an ophthalmologist for your first visit, especially if you're over 50 years old. Bad thing is that it costs a lot more than an optometrist, unless you have vision insurance.

A good optometrist will test you for glaucoma and will examine your eyes for cataracts and such, but an ophthalmologist goes beyond that. In the last few years ours has found me with a condition called epithelial basement membrane dystrophy and my husband with cataracts. He's having two surgeries, one in late April and one in early May. Thankfully, I just have to use drops in my eyes several times a day to keep them from drying out.

Don't mean to scare you off, but with age sometimes come eye problems beyond just the typical things that can be corrected with glasses. Better to be proactive, in my opinion.

I wouldn't pay $4.00 for a cup of Dunkin Donuts' or Starbucks' coffee if it was the last coffee on earth. Stuff tastes like sludge to me.

you are correct , but it has shown to reduce the effects of the virus....I was replying to white wolves who was complaining about establishments requiring proof of vax..... if those that congregate after vax the risk is greatly reduced...
Complaining...huh
My concern is the draconian overreach of the powers at be. Just think of all those who may not be able to get the jab; what happens to those people? Do they not eat, no home to live in, go blind 'cause they couldn't get in to get a cataract surgery, won't be allowed to see their doctor, go to a hospital in an emergency?...get my drift? Where does it end?
It is a human right to have a choice whether to get the jab or not. Is it not our bodies? Our bodies are not ours but the government's?
The lockdowns, wearing masks, social distancing was not enough to stop the sickness, people dieing...and apparently the jab is still not enough to stop the sickness or people dieing. So what's the point of getting the jab? Where there is still the possibility of getting sick or dieing. We all should have the choice to make of getting the jab or not and still be able to be Free regardless of having the jab or not.
Our bodies...but not our bodies... because the government wants to do what ever they like to our bodies???
Again...Where will it end?

So had an Eye Exam like never before if I remember right~! So I am Officially Old now since I need Reading Glasses~! I didn't need an Optometrist to tell me that though. LMFAO~! I had tried the Thin Optics but although they work was a PITA keeping them on.

Plus the first cup from a new glass percolator~! Mom burned the old one and it didn't taste as good as this~!

I just bought a new French Press. It’s a Bodum glass one. Plus I ordered some Chock Full Of Nuts bold coffee to use in it.

I agree with you! But most people think the shot is going to protect them or give them back the “old normal”. The jab is gene therapy, it’s not even a true vaccine. Plus, unless you’ve got serious co-morbidities, your chance of survival from covid is like 95+%.

Had eye doc visit Tuesday with my wife. Her new job allows us access to vision insurance. She wanted me checked out. Last I could recall was an eye doc visit 5, maybe 10 years ago.

I use "cheaters" to read. The doc told me that was kind of naturally "expected". He also said my eyes were boring compared to my wife's one eye. The only interesting thing about my eyes was I saw at near perfect.

Got a far sight and near sight deficiency, they work in compliment of each other he explained to "normalize: my sight. He was interested because my optic nerves were double sized from normal and not from dilation but normally.

He was impressed my wife could see at all. He took time, was patient, firm but not nasty with her. I overheard them in the next room through the wall. He had very good bedside manner as it's called. He was explaining to her that due to all the surgeries she's had her right eye is simply "along for the ride".

He then drove home what he felt important. She has to protect her left eye. Yes, they can do a lot to help people's eyes but once gone they kind of run out of options. He was very polite but really stressed the urgency, importance to her.

The only other thing he mentioned regarding my eyes, come back in ten years and see where cataracts are at. He did see signs they had only just started. There was nothing to do at the time(now) to fix, treat them. He explained "no, you can't get a head start to fix them away or stop them from happening. If they come or not is always 50/50, you get 'em or not. We can't explain it."

So yeah, stab my eyes there's our Tuesday. Her dad drove us after the eye doc. She had to get her car insurance changed. Yep, she got a new to us Jeep Patriot. Funnily enough she didn't argue when I said it was white. It's listed as bright pearl smoke or something, ... to me, white.

And yes, I thanked him for how he spoke with her. I really appreciated him not scaring her but making sure she understood where she stands.

Boy it sure has been quiet on the forum lately~! I wonder what the reason is? Spring Fever?
Started to quieten a bit when Cromwell left, he generated a fair bit of banter. Now it seems we have lost Caff who did the same.
Few others seem to have gone quiet too.

It has been so nice and civil or peaceful since the Crommie left. I think he got mad and took his keyboard home when he got reprimanded. Just a guess though.

So took Mom to the Cemetery and we put a Cross for my Father and my Sister. I can't believe how well the cone is standing up after the winter. Still waiting on the Headstone since May. We went to the Monument Place and the gentleman was apologizing and explaining during the Pandemic the Quarries were closed and deemed not essential.

Those flowers look nice. I’m so sorry that the gravestone isn’t “essential”.

Since Dad was buried in December there is no grass and even though I have been doing the lawns for years bare spots bothered him. I feel like planting seed on his grave for him~!

Why was my reply funny? You gave it an lol.

Because the Crommie was a Dick and he Stalked me trying to start flaming wars. IMO he is a waste of Flesh and now the VU is much better without him. Since I know he is still viewing the threads pretty much a good bet he will come in here and try to stir the pot.

Sorry if I'm seeming reticent of late. Gotten back into the swing of working. Also there's not seemingly much "new" going on with vaping relevant to me.

Yes, I know vaping is under dire attack. Yes, that may seem relevant, to a point it is. Rather not focus on a negative though. There's nothing positive though which holds interest.

That's why I've not been present here much. Probably won't be either save for weekends. Kind of being a lurker.

Reckon we'll wind up meeting in the middle then. I understand what you're driving at. Like I tell my wife, "some people talk all day and night, not say a thing." She smiles, nods.

Early morning here, 2 AM. Had to let Shrek go potty. My head is reeling a bit. Yeah, going back to the rack.
