20 pages later my questions finally were answered. I think I should win something for knowing that there was going to be this requirement. @gracechen you should give me one for free.
May I ask what were your questions?

The cotton test is unimportant. It's just a test to show that the mod can read and control the temperature of the coil - whatever it is. On that front, the Asolo fails. But I'm happy to believe they read it another way that relies on the wick being wet.

That still doesn't convince me it doesn't overheat the juice when the wick is wet. A wet wick can withstand a lot of heat. And you should be worried when you see a video of a wet wick being visible singed after the mod hits the protection feature. The wick on a DNA40 mod never singes, even after the board hits TC dozens of times.
The DNA40 isn't doing it with kanthal wire only nickel wire. DNA40 would set the cotton on fire because it can't even stay in TC mode with kanthal wire. Until a full review is done using all the different wires we should not be so hard in our comments. The reviewer was trying to show that there is s certain amount of control with kanthal that the other TC mods don't have.

This is dry hit prevention. Not temp control. Very different. This may be appealing if you weren't constricted to 29+ awg kanthal.

Sure? But I quoted my questions in the post that you quoted.
Idk how I missed that! Yes the PWM was just recently addressed. No idea on frequency. But the kanthal wire restrictions were posted a while back. Not many people build with 29+ gauge kanthal anymore...

I know... my point is that I asked those questions 20 pages ago because I was speculating on how a device could provide temperature control using Kanthal when everyone else was saying that it is not possible. It is in fact possible. And this device appears to at least employ that technology at some level. Personally, I hope this catches on. I am really very tired of misusing the word coil, just because I vape. A world where a coil provides inductance and a resistor provides impedance would be wonderful.

Well, you doubtless know the old adage, 'Never wrestle with a pig - you'll both get shitty, but the pig will enjoy it"

This thread has been filled with your carping, your gloating, your mocking, and your obnoxious comments. You have exhibited a peculiar hostility to this product from the very beginning, characterised by your incessant whining - "It's a marketing scam", "It's vendor spam", etc, etc.

You have spouted so much verbal diarrhoea that, clearly, you have forgotten much of what you have posted, so allow me to refresh your memory.

Your own definition of temperature control was the dry cotton test - you said that passing such a test,
(quote) "proves that at the most basic level, temp control is actually working" (/quote)

You said that (quote) ""Being able to detect a dry wick is kinda the whole point of temp control" (/quote)

You said (quote) "If the temp control is working though then the cotton won't burnThat's...the whole point, and why people value the cotton test" (/quote)

And so on, and so forth....

Yet, when a video is posted that demonstrates the Asolo satisfying *your* definition of a TC mod, you cannot bring yourself to admit that you judged the product too hastily and that you were, in fact, wrong.

At the very least, you owe Grace an apology for your childish and boorish behaviour.

Finally, you also posted (quote) "If kanthol was viable for TC, Evolve would have done it" (/quote)

Well it clearly *is* viable* - and Evolve didn't do it.

iJoy did.

So try and deal with it like an adult, eh?......

I'm so glad you spent all that time digging through my past quotes to try and make a point regarding the cotton burn test, when we're referring to a device that failed the cotton burn test anyway, bravo.

Please show me how to select my desired temp limit in degrees with this device and I'll agree on the viability of its temp control with kanthal.

Please be sure to make your armour super nice and shiny though, nobody wants a scruffy white knight.

That is an absolute deal breaker then. Limiting the diameter of the resistance wire to one specific gauge in order to make the anti-dry hit programing work is just lazy and uninspired engineering.
.

More bollox from Evolve groupie set ;) - it's asinine to complain about being 'limited' to a single kanthol choice when the video reviewer clearly states that, "I have tried temperature control with three different gauges of kanthol wire, and it is working"

So, someone who kisses Eolves arse because he can use one type of wire for TC calls iJoy "lazy and uninspired" because they have the cheek to build a mod thatoffers the choice of three types of wire utilising (as yet unspecified) different gauges!

Fan Boys, eh? - what can you do with 'em?

Speaking of bluster, feel free to prove me wrong instead of just throwing insults like a petulant child.

I'll be waiting.

Huuuuuuuge Sigh!!!!

Who was it who said that the hallmark of TC was the cotton test? - yes, that's right, it was you.

Who claimed that iJoy could never successfully perform that test using kanthal wire? - yep, you again.

Who is it that, after seeing a video that proved him spectacularly wrong on both counts, stubbornly refuses to admit his mistake, and frantically nit-picks to justify his childish stubbornness? - why!, bless me!, it's you....

Who is apparently too blind to see the burnt cotton in the video in question?

And you're making the same mistake iJoy are making in assuming burnt hit protection is temp control.

But hey, feel free to continue.

'18'? - really? from the playground gang bullying that is so rampant here, I assumed that merely the ability to stand and toddle was sufficient for admittance.

Grace's problem, imo, is that she *has* to be polite (and, actually, China is intrinsically a very polite society) so a combination of career professionalism and cultural influences doubtless hinders her responses to the cretins who delight in baiting her.

I, however, am extremely rude, completely culturally insensitive, and am free to say what I think.

So piss off.

So are you saying that since Ms. Chen's upbringing embraces all the best features of Chinese polite society, then it must be that outright lying to prospective customers, changing the parameters and rules of a contest after it starts, not honoring deals offered to online and B&M vape shops to sell the Asolo at half price so they could evaluate the device to see if they wanted to order in quantity to sell is actually the epitome of the best of the best of Chinese culture and business practices?

I sure hope not!

I've watched the first look.
My first thought, his into reminds me of Harry Potter, great for the asholo. Lol.
In all seriousness. This mod is not temperature control/limit. It's dry hit prevention. Case closed.
And no that IS NOT what temperature control is all about. The dry cotton test was a means of proving it does limit temperature, not that that's what temperature control was designed for. Right now I have a temp control device set at 520°F. This will burn cotton.
Temperature control is about maintaining a specific temperature to give you what you consider a CONSISTENT GREAT TASTE, based on your preference.
This mod doesn't do that it stops working to avoid a dry hit. Not maintain a consistent temperature.
This is dry hit prevention. Not temp control.
There is a difference. If you believe this is why people are into temp control and what it's about then here you go, mods for you. Dry hit prevention isn't why tc came about. It just so happens it can also prevent a dry hit at a low enough temp. But if temp control was just avoiding a dry hit it wouldn't go up to 600°F
Reposting for the flamer
And really praying for ass cancer. I hope you remove the poll lodged in your rectum.

[...]phil speak to us, he do one review on Asolo until this one sell in the market. i will post it here once it is available.

If I understand correctly here, Busardo's gonna get one for review. Short of getting any meaningful answers from Gracechen, I guess that's the next best thing. If Busardo does a real review (as opposed to glossing over the defects to plug his buddies' products, which he does on occasions), he'll tear apart the Asolo and work out roughly what it does with his scope. Hopefully...

I guess I'll just wait for the review then. There's nothing of value to be had from this trainwreck of a thread...

I see. I lost the thread of this tapestry of bull I guess...

Oh well. One of these days, this device will be sold, and the early adopters will get burnt, as always. I'm sure they won't fail to report their findings. So we'll know the truth about the Asolo, it's just a matter of time. All I know is, it won't be with my money :)

Not at 90$ I mean if someone just wanted a higher wattage mod and IF it at least fired accurately I could see 40-50$ but as of right now, that's where it stops........
I know that's just mean of me. :(

The kanthal needs to be 29 gauge or higher and at least 0.5ohms.

What's the point of 200 glorious watts when you cant build any lower than 0.5 resistance? OMG, a 0.5 coil at 200 watts could steam the wallpaper off a nearby wall lol.
