How useful would an AC unit be if there was no way to specify the temperature?

Would you buy one?

More like an educated guess based on details provided here and facts provided by an individual with a sample. He stated specifically that the rattlesnake noise frequency changes based on how the mod is used with kanthal. When air passes over the coil the frequency changes slightly. When no air passed, the frequency went up substantially during use. As he doesn't have an oscilloscope I asked him to tape a microphone on the mod and record it with his pc in use. Inductive reactance increases with heat naturally and then frequency is varied to maintain that desired level. Simple temperature regulation even though the mod nor the user knows what that temperature is. He said it will all be in his youtube video when it is ready and that the audio files he made supports this speculation of how the mod operates.

I fully understand that the lack of a calibrated temperature scale to set the device will limit it's appeal. But the failure of many to understand that temperature can be regulated without knowing what that temperature is getting really old. Just because it doesn't meet your needs doesn't mean that it isn't happening. Worthless to some, absolutely. Worthless to all, absolutely not.

Umm, homie, you don't need to direct those comments at me, I asked because I'm curious. I wasn't asking to be a douchebag.
Ive also been asking for numbers form the same reason; in addition to saying I didn't get m electronics education from Google or YouTube.

Not arguing.....
But isnt that what they ALL do ?
Control power applied to somewhat maintain a temp that is measured.... how ?
How dose a device know what the ACTUAL temp is with out a physical thermometer ?
( Math and using the data expected by electrical equations.)
A best guess so to speak, right ?

Just because a device does not provide you with the eye candy of a degrees thermostat like setting, does not mean it cant do the above.
Maybe,,, just maybe it does it in a way we fail to understand ATM ?
Its obviously able to do "Something" to control the power applied when using kanthal coil..... kinda what it does with a nickle coil only without a Temp read out.

IMHO its only a matter of time before this happens....
Will Ijoy be the one who makes it happen.... I dunno, but to deny it can happen would be a bad assumption
Theres new features coming fast and furious as on mod tries to top the others.
In fact this looks kinda cool ....
http://www.vaporcube.com/h-wrecker-hohm-wrecker-151w-temperature-control-box-mod.html

  • Integrated proprietary Intellichips that execute a multitude of tasks
+ Supports variable output banding on wattage & voltage adjustments so chip does not fluctuate in wide variations

*Result: increased battery life, coil builds, and reduces battery stress

*Result: diminishes power spiking & demand on batteries

+ Runs a self-diagnostic & component initialization during power up

*Result: verifies it is ready for safe operation

+ Executes patent pending TruDegreeTM technology (while using Ni200 wire)

*Result: displays real-world coil temperatures

  • Double poled circuitry like a multi meter

A TC mod still applies power only at a lesser amount as it's closer to temp. It doesn't discontinue firing.
I wouldn't consider it a guess. Using an algorithm to figure out approximate temperature isn't a guess imo. Depending on the chip determines how accurate it is. I will admit it's not 100% accurate in any case but it's damn close within 5°F on some mods.

It wasn't very long ago that AC units didn't have a way to specify the temperature. How old are you?

Does your microwave allow you to specify a temperature even though it still allows you to cook food? What about the cook top that a chef uses in a restaurant? Still useful tools though.

The first paragraph was for you... the second for many others.

I know you were asking him, but from a user perspective I'm thinking its like the 'jellyfish ' of TC.
Probably at its root a good device(via build quality) but ut has its own settings that you have to get accustomed to. you know like it has its own set of variables.
Gonna have to se what else maverick has found and if it'll stabilize close to its setting like a nickel coil does.

Can a lamp be controlled by it's power switch or does control require a dimmer?

This semantic argument is tiring. Remember there's a language barrier after all... I don't feel deceived in the least but there are still outstanding questions.
I'd take the language barrier into account if this marketer didn't say it was temp control then say it was taste control. Obviously they knew what temperature control was and changed their mind about referring to what this mod does.

Go re-read the first post. The claims didn't change just the speculations and assumptions of other participants changed.

Does the this device Stop firing.... I dunno, did I miss that part ?
Or does it scale down ?
Apparently neither. The frequency changes to change the ratio of power transformed to heat and emf by the coil.

This bit? " This mod temp control with any kind of wire !"
In all fairness it does mention taste control as well.

I would say in the case of Kanthal it indirectly controls the temperature... kinda. The early video of flaming cotton was interesting... I guess it may have evolved since then or they had the taste set too high. Time and investigation/testing via reviews will eventually bring things to light and answer questions... I hope!

No matter where you go, take your Vape!

If you know anything about metrology, it's very easy to know: it's impossible to achieve that kind of precision outside of a temperature controlled lab equiped with very high quality, very expensive calibrated measuring equipment.

Just look at the DNA40: it's trying to be precise to 2 decimal places (using tricks such as measuring its own onboard temperature and averaging many measurements to increase its precision) and it struggles: it drifts very easily if your atomizer's connectors aren't perfect, if it's hot outside... Forget about reading down to 3 decimal places with any precision, let alone 4 or 5.

That's why we keep saying here that the Asolo doesn't do temperature control with kanthal: it does *something* obviously, but not TC.

if somebody can speak both English and chinese, does it means he can't speak both.:D
it is like this item use several technology, both working principle of radio signal detector and TC in mod. so it is not a pure TC mod, it is not a TC mod. am i right?

this item have put three mode, one mode is for all wires, one mode is for Ti, one mode is for Ni. Ti/Ni can operate the temperature, same as evic-vt,
we finally add it is for some people feel our mod is not TC, them they can try three mode at the same time and make some comparing.
the mode for all wires is the most easy operate mode and work best.

Little more interested after reading Maverik X's take.

I will and have spent top dollar for quality, but c'mon though. $150 for an off brand device/chip is still way too expensive imo. If Ijoy really wants this to take off they need to up their market recognition game.

I am very happy to have pre-ordered this device a few weeks ago at half the current rate. Day after the prices doubled, no real need for new device so who know when it will stock. Reguardless of TC debate, size and power made me comfortable at the price point. Current rate would need to see much more to spend and be confident in the advertised features. The IPV D2 is ideal for my needs, small and kicking ass. Interested in something larger that might be a desk or driving mod with longer life.

Oh, of that i have no doubt. The 34 people over on Efun who actually put up that money for a preorder on this are going to end up rather disappointed in short order. The Vaporshark days of slapping TC (or whatever you are calling it) on a device and charging whatever you want are long gone. With all due respect....you guys are pretty much pissing away a small window of opportunity being the first at offering something a bit different then everybody else can create.

Sadly i'm left guessing that is probably the goal though. At $150 the Asolo won't play out to be much more then one time cash grab before people drift back to our regularly scheduled programming. Which consists of better and more dependable chips at (dramatically) lower prices. This thread will eventually die, and with it any real regular talk or online community attention being paid to your company.

Least this thread will probably make the VU Hall of Fame though :)

The colon sensor wires are connected to the sphincter cable which in turn forms a heat gas and is then measured by the human sensory protection override or (HSPO for short) to compensate for the lack of an evolve sensor like material...All you electrical engineer wanna be's and you couldnt understand all that?...All along i have been trying to hint of the amp meter which is there..that meter is the key component...smh...losers.

Eating Crow
I'm posting this recipe for anyone who does or says anything whereby they have to eat crow as a result. If you have to eat crow, it is best if you prepare it properly. Eating crow though is NOT recommended under any circumstances. Only very young ones are edible at all. Fully grown crows are too fiberous to be digestable by humans.

An alternative recipe would be to place the cleaned crow in a dutch oven. Cover with water. Boil for 2 weeks. Discard the crow and eat the pan!

Ingredients

  • 2-3 VERY young crows
  • 1/2 cup carrots
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tbs corn starch
  • 2 pie crusts
Preparation

  • Kill, clean, remove head, feet, and feathers from crows.
  • Sear skin over open flame.

Preparing "Pie"
  • Cover with water and boil 5-6 hours, adding water as needed.
  • Cool
  • Remove meat from bones, and chop finely. Place in bowl.
  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Mix cornstarch with milk, and stir until smooth.
  • Add carrots, peas, celery, and onion.
  • Mix well.
  • Add chopped crow, and mix well.
  • Put 1 pie crust in pie plate, piercing pie crust for ventilation.
  • Pour crow mixture into pie shell.
  • Cover with second pie shell. Seal edges with small amount of water, pierce for ventilation.
Cooking
  • Bake 50 minutes until pie crust is golden brown.
Yield: As many as need to eat crow.

Serving
  • Serve hot.

hi
the first stock will be ship out to different wholesaler before next weekend.
i don't know where did you pre-order, but it will be in customer's stock soon.

more test video is coming, so you would see how it work and have more confident with this item. it is truly able to support TC on all exsiting wires includes kanthal.

i heard one customer talk to me it is even suppport 0.12ohm kanthal wires.

let's waiting for more video coming.

@gracechen, you really need to address your contest thread please. You've promised 20 winners and have not responded to that thread!!
that's ONLY on facebook, i think i didn't make it clear, so in the morning, i response that thread, to make it clear. that topic is same as what in our facebook.

ok, understand
@gracechen As a member perspective not a staff perspective, if you are running a contest for the VU members here, that contest should take place here and winners chosen here as well, why would you post a contest here and tell members to go elsewhere in order to participate and learn the winners? It is both an insult and draw away from our community here.

At this point, I'm just curious if it works. that way if it does i'll buy one from a reputable company when they duplicate and refine it.

On Reddit ECR, they don't allow you to post givaway links to any other forum. You either give it away on Reddit, or not at all. If you do post outside links, it gets deleted. I believe this is one of the few policies VU should take up. It helps keep the vendor honest, as this thread has not demonstrated.

totally agree... i dislike facebook...so i don't use it...so in other words i don't get to participate. too bad so sad for me and others who expected to participate HERE.

BUT...it IS an insult that draws me away from the product company...NOT VU!!
