Perhaps she is trying to tell us that it will come apart and only works with badly wrapped batteries?
They can't help it, they're Panasonics

In all sincerity, I'm curious if the battery door may contribute to that with the push down and slide on installation method. Was watching a video from another reviewer (it was more of an unboxing) and thought it might cause some long term wrap shred. I could be wrong though. Look forward to seeing what @Maverik_X and others experienced with the device.

The rails on the mod where the battery door slides are always a weak point from what I've seen on a lot of other electronic equipment. A slight drop, and the mass of the spring assisted batts is pushed against those rails and the rails often crack. More so if you live in a cold climate. In a hot climate, or left in a hot car again springs pushing the batts against the rails isn't good.

Even if the box is made out of some super plastic, a battery door that detatches is one more thing to lose between the car seats trying to change the batts because there is no pass through USB charging port.

It would have been nice to see the other side of the battery door, are the contacts a strip of plated metal that will rear worn over time, or solid? Also, to see how the metal contact is attatched. I've seel them melted into the plastic, and also glued. Either way is inelegant. I'm of the opinion that on many devices the sliding battery door is a weak link. More so on parellel batts than batts in series, because on a parellel setup, the door has to make a good electrical contact.
I hope we get our review soon.

At the current price point it would've been nice to see a brighter display and an all aluminum mod. Just my opinion. would like to see that plastic face plate get scrapped for a bit better material. I've been known to be picky. lol

It is def a nice size though. (please no thats what she said jokes hahaha.)

She would have had to say that to make the joke applicable. Hahaha

Babahahaha!!!!!
Btw, I broke down and preordered the cloudmaker sx
Probably gonna decide on that other one Friday.

Yeah I preordered the DNA way before I bought the custom DNA200 I have now. I was gonna cancel it and get the SX version but Smog was doing a deal for an RDA and free juice and would charge for the promo items if the preorder was cancelled which I get since I've already gotten some of the promo stuff in advance. So I plan on keeping the DNA and just buying the SX kit and swap it out as soon as it's available.

Ok

I think they may be on to something.

I have just started experimenting with TC. Im not even sure I like it yet. Its kinda frustrating me actually to figure it out

To me TC does 3 things
1. Let me dial in a specific temp to set a specific taste to the vape.
2. Not get dry hits or burnt taste
3. Vape a tank bone dry.

It seems whatever you want to call it that this device does it fulfills #2 and possibly #3. And to some degree #1.

It seems you take a hit get it to where you want that Kanthal coil to taste all the time and switch to TC mode. Then it trys to regulate the power to make the hit stay that way all the time and if it cant it cuts the power. You can up the factor by 5% or 10% to adjust it a bit. Then I would assume that the vape will be the same from the start of a draw till the end and from draw to draw. Now if you can vape the tank bone dry was not demonstrated in the video but everything else suggests that is a possibility.

SO maybe it shouldnt be called Temp control any more but Taste control. I am actually NOW interested in trying this device out, because nickel and titanium just dont do much for me yet, Im stilll experimenting. Maybe whne I figure TC out more, my opinion will change. But if I could just stick a kanger occ coil on and set it so that i dont get a dry hit, possibly vape a tank bone dry and dial it in to some degree to make the vape consistent I might be a very happy camper.

But based on that video, there may be some bugs to still work out to PERFECT it. but the dna TC boards were not perfect the first try, and it took a while to get it perfected.

It does seem to me though iJoy is on to something.

@Maverik_X

Thanks for the vid.
If You had never heard of Ijoy, and walked into a vape shop and saw this mod, would you buy one?

Good stuff @Maverik_X . Really informative as always. Very interesting tech going on there at the very least. Couple tweaks here and there aesthetically and a price adjustment and they may sell a boat load of these things.

I'm still not seeing any temp control on kanthal. "100%" is not a temperature.

Also many thanks to Maverick_X for risking his life with that near death choking experience halfway through the video. :D

st0nedpenguin's greatest hits.

Except if kanthal was a viable wire for temp control Evolv wouldn't have bothered using nickel in the first place.

It's the same kind of China marketing that brought us the "temp control" Smok M80, and we all know how that turned out.

Unless the composition of kanthal and/or nichrome has magically been changed, there is no breakthrough to be made.

Also what's the deal with the Chinese vendor spam?

The video proves literally nothing, the same thing could have been done with the Smok M80 if it was programmed differently.

ust sit back and relax and wait for the mod that can't/can do temp control and can't/can pass a dry cotton test

"Fuck my ass"

Assholio Illuminati.

Anyone who actually pre-ordered one of these is going to need lube.

PS: If women want equality then I think they should probably be able to handle a few jokes on the internet.

Speaking of bluster, feel free to prove me wrong

Examples of her blatant lying have been posted, quoted, reposted, and requoted, ad infinitum at this point, the fact that you don't want to actually read them doesn't mean they aren't there.

It's not a case of different algorithms, the issue is the TCR, which for many alloys like kanthal is so minute that monitoring it effectively is a giant pain in the butthole.
Still waiting for the video of that non scorched kanthal cotton burn test.

there's all the other shady marketing, lies, and treating everyone like idiots but that's par for the course

Actually, if I remember correctly, Ms. Chen, or Phil Goldstein or whoever has not done much with defending themselves.

The found a shill or shills to do that as well as some regular members of the Vu Peanut Gallery to dust off their shining armour and leap to her defence.

She did ask me to "Be Nice To Me" once.

And I was.

Until she started with the lies and BS.

Uhh, okay?

Not entirely sure what you were trying to accomplish with that other than wasting your own time and showing that you're terrible at copy paste.

Thanx Mav !

Appreciate your efforts here.
Now its just a matter of time for release, a little more for the price drop......
Then I'll consider picking one up.

Good on you Sir !

That I wouldn't know. maybe over time. it's a tight fit. you really need two hands to close it up.

hard to say, need to see final production unit. the sample for the $140 I wouldn't. I gave my 2 cents to @gracechen on what needs improving hopefully she will follow through.

Sooooo after catching up on the last 20 pages:

1 the Asholo does some kind of limiting with Kanthal, but it's far from being temperature controlled
2 IJoy marketing tactics are shady at best
3 a lot of poor arguments had the "racist grenade" thrown
4 Kay Upton on a horse is much easier on the eyes than the aliens dude

But the question I have that remains....Were those coming in picking fights with the skeptics in this thread doing so to be Ms Chen's knight in shining armor, trying to score a free or cheap mod, or simply being first class internet trolls?

I'm a sceptic, and I didn't pick any fights. I just fkn can't stand xenophobic ignorant bullies, although you RubberGopher seem to identify with them.

Did you mean remarks like these? And these were just from one member here.

I won't believe this device works with Kanthal as a combined heating/sensing

element until I see a video - and then Iwon't believe it anyway

Not a skeptical remark, a clearly biased ignorant one.

Look, some of us know electronics. There is no way in hell you can read the temperature of a kanthal wire with any degree of reliability by measuring the change of resistance in the uncontrolled conditions of a consumer electronics product.

But I'd love to eat my words and be proven wrong...

Please DON'T send me one for review - I have better things to waste my time on

But, you heard him, he'd "love to eat me words and be proven wrong"

What's going on Gracechen? Superduper kanthal temp sensing technology not working

so well after all, and you need foreign talents to make it work, perhaps?

@gracechen: thanks a buncharoony: I was so hot for you and your product, now I'm totally flaccid.

One of his statements is true, I'll give him that.

I have a shiny 124.15 yuan bill here that says it won't be anything more than more marketing rah-rah :)

And his word is worth what?

if she really was that confident that the product is great, she'd have sent it for review for free to the biggest doubters among us: they'd have "seen the light" and changed their opinion spectacularly and publicly. Naysayers who get convinced otherwise are usually the best advertisement for any product.

You still want more?

Well, they needed a reviewer who could be bought, or at least briefed on what to say and what not to say, and who would play ball. I don't think any of us here qualifies

I think Mav was a gentleman actually...

you don't even need to get that one to check: it's totally obvious it doesn't do what it claims.

That's the problem with Gracechen and her stupid company: if they actually said what their goddamn mod does exactly, people could make an informed decision on whether to spend their hard-earned dollars on it.

Instead, they claim it does temperature control (which it doesn't), and you can bet your sweet ass someone somewhere will try to vape their wick dry to change flavor,

bet you anything the Asolo and its half-assed TC thing doesn't prevent juice overheating at all - unless Gracechen proves me otherwise, and she won't, because she can't.

The language barrier is a convenient excusesometimes...

I have no doubt Gracechen understood the question perfectly

Grace's English is so good, they picked such an unfortunate name...

. What you said just goes to show that science education in America doesn't work anymore.

Most of the posts in this here thread show an appalling ignorance of basic scientific concepts. Yet ignorant posters keep flapping their trap
(Italics added for ironic emphasis).

Giraut

There once was a poster named Giraut

Whose brain was made of soft dough.

The words that he spewed, were hurtful and rude,

just shows how low some guys will go.
